  1. “‘The National Microbiology Laboratory [in Winnipeg] would have some pretty sensitive biological research material that … could be shared either with or without authorization with foreign countries,’ said Gordon Houlden, director of the University of Alberta’s China Institute.”

Which, of course, is why a Chinese spy has been permitted to work in Canada with viruses like Ebola ideal for use in biological warfare for over TWENTY YEARS, by governments of both major parties.

She and her “students” (other spies) have only been locked out of her lab in the last few days at the insistence of the Mounties. Not one has been arrested.

    1. Our petite pomme de terre is no match for China, we need to be very concerned, it’s a crisis.

      1. I figured the fix was in when what’s-her-name was chosen to play Doctor Who.

Then again, the last actor in that role that I actually liked as Tom Baker.

    1. Apparently she’s not playing “Jane Bond” per se. The premise seems to be that Bond has retired and so she has received his 007 number.

The question is whether this plot device will work with Bond fans. I really liked Daniel Craig and I suspect not a few female fans did too; he was popular precisely because he knocked down all the silly accretions that had built up over the years in the franchise and offered the “hard man” Bond originally created by Fleming.

Who knows? This twist might work. Or it could just go kaput like those all-female Ghostbusters and Ocean’s Whatever remakes.

      1. Replacing characters on the fly, whether it’s a TV series or a movie franchise, doesn’t always work. Just ask AMC about what it did to Fear the Walking Dead. Ratings for that show have dropped, apparently.

      2. There are some things that are sacred and Bond is (James) Bond. There’s nothing else like it. It is what it is.

The beauty of ‘Bond’ will be ruined with this change, I fear. If ticket sales or TV ratings plummet, they can always revert to the old formula. The fact that they don’t release a flick every year gives them a chance to remedy the situation.

I never was a big Bond fan until I binge watched the shows one snowy Sunday a few years ago. They were a revelation. A true mixtutre of everything yet with some innocence included. Should everything be ruined with tinny fake music, I’m out of there. Again.

For the record, “Spectre” was somewhat of a disappointment but Adele’s song saved it. I liked the short scene when Her Majesty plunged from a plane. That was a genuine get! Good for the franchise.

Broccoli will be rolling over, if the child and spouse ruin it!
Let us hope for boffo box-office certainty.

        1. Correction: Her Majesty was never in a Bond Movie, rather Bond was featured in the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympic Games. My bad.

        2. Broccoli will be rolling over, if the child and spouse ruin it!

It wouldn’t surprise me if Ian Fleming’s been rotating for a while.

The movies started going downhill after he died, starting with You Only Live Twice. I thought Lazenby was OK in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and probably would have been good in the role had he made more movies, but he never got the chance to prove it.

Moore was an odd choice and I didn’t particularly like his Bond flicks. (Moonraker, anyone?) Brosnan was supposed to take over, but he was under contract to NBC due to his TV series Remington Steele, so Dalton got the job instead.

I thought Dalton did pretty good, but due to horsing around on the part of studio executives, the next movie after License to Kill got held up for several years. Dalton wanted to work, so he quit. By then, Brosnan was available. The story I heard was that he wanted more money after making Die Another Day and got punted as a result.

I only saw the first two Craig movies, but, by then, I stopped caring.

          1. “It wouldn’t surprise me if Ian Fleming’s been rotating for a while.”

            Zing!! Ha, Ha!

I know he was a Bond villain in Spectre and Skyfall, but if they could write him to be in to play the lead role, somehow, as in a double agent or something, I would love it if Waltz could be the new 007, instead.
He is a favourite with many, a wonderful actor and has a charismatic way about him. Not English, but who cares. He was great in “Inglorious Basterds” and “Django Unchained” which were more like my kind of movie.

    1. Thanks, I cleaned up as best I could in the time available.

It seems I need to focus again on policing comments, as though I have nothing better to do.

Not happy about it, but the hammer is about to come down.

      1. That was a great dialogue

  3. If you live outside of Ontario your vote doesn’t count. Trudeau’s loyal media know that the seats in Ontario will decide the next prime minister. Trudeau’s Toronto Star has new Ford is Hitler stories including a poll that shows most people in the province think Ford is evil, and that most people won’t vote for Hitler Scheer because of Ford. That population replacement policy of Groper is working out well.

    1. Not so sure it will work this time around. Ford could have waited until after the election to lay the hammer down. he has lots of time ahead in his mandate. People are reminded of Liberal taxes affecting all commodities from the gas pumps to the grocery store.

    2. The only important parts of Canada are those within the loving arms of the Liberal Party where maple trees grow. That’s what our national flag says.

    3. If you live outside -Toronto- your vote doesn’t count.

You think the media cares what people out in Simcoe or Chatham think? As if. We’re the ones that elected Ford.

So far our biggest problem with Douggie is that he’s a little bit squishy. We need more Trump around here.

  4. Great Leader Kim Sung Trudeau is holding a media event at a military base in Ontario today. He will be posing for selfies with the head of NATO. We can expect Groper to spend a lot of time in Ontario in the coming weeks, as he knows that Ontario voters will decide the next election.

    1. How did we get here?

      https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/opinion-steven-zhou-antifa-alt-right-1.4302851

“””We may all be troubled by the offensively violent aspects of anti-fascist tactics, but until someone can come up with a program that actually diminishes organized fascism in the real world, they should think twice before conflating the problem with those who are trying to solve it.”””

  5. Lorne Gunter has a nasty story about poor little Justin today at the Toronto Sun website.

  6. I look forward to the new chinese male actor that will play Wonder Woman.

What.. it doesn’t work that way ??!!

migawd, why why why is it SOOOOO ‘necessary’ to shoot such a beautiful animal like a full grown lion? hmmm?

here’s a hint: it ISN’T the same times as mr e hemingway, m’kay? nothing ‘manly man’ about THIS.

killing because you can and meet all the ‘requirements’.

kill kill kill kill kill. oh look how smart and successful we are.

  8. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the election. The Globe and Mail reports that Trudeau has given a major contract to Davie Shipyards in Quebec just before the election. Just because our Great Leader wants to do well in that province, we should not be judgemental.

PPC’s leader Bernier visits Cochrane – Cochrane This Week

Like a snowball rolling down a hill, the People’s Party of Canada is gaining momentum and growing bigger as time goes on. The PPC’s leader, Maxime Bernier, the only leader of a major political party to address town residents, spent the better part of the day in Cochrane, July 13, 2019, meeting and talking with people while explaining his party’s platform.

“80% of our platform is in the Reform Party’s Blue Book,” Bernier stated. “Too bad (Preston) Manning didn’t learn French and wasn’t successful in Quebec.”

Mark Zuckerberg just banned a St Augustine quote as “hate speech”…

I wonder if certain sections from the Koran or, heck, the Talmud would receive similar treatment

    The quote that was banned

Let us never assume that if we live good lives we will be without sin; our lives should be praised only when we continue to beg for pardon. But men are hopeless creatures, and the less they concentrate on their own sins, the more interested they become in the sins of others. They seek to criticize, not to correct. Unable to excuse themselves, they are ready to accuse others.

  11. Conservatives Against Liberty

    Guest Post by Ron Paul

Recently several prominent social and populist conservatives have attacked libertarianism. These conservatives, some of whom are allies in the fight against our hyper-interventionist foreign policy, blame libertarianism for a variety of social and economic ills. The conservative attack on libertarianism — like the attack on the freedom philosophy launched by leftists — is rooted in factual, economic, and philosophical errors.

The @peoplespca is the most talked about political party in Canada & according to researchers likely shows a “higher level of support intensity than other parties.” In my video on “How the PPC is Gathering the Vote” I said this would happen:

We all watch the #Liberals and #Conservatives at the top of the Canadian polls, but what’s happening with the #NDP, #PPC, and #GPC?

We took a look and found some interesting activity surrounding PPC.
