July 10, 2019: Reader Tips

Thread’s open.

Note: Please refrain from posting comments with multiple links. They trip the spam filter and I tend to delete instead of publishing them. The same thing goes for off topic and creative spelling of profanity. I’ve been cracking down on that too. Thanks.

    1. One could reply that, “you wanted the Dairy Lobby, you have them.” Or, “you wanted to court the mindless mushy middle, kick out Max, ban the Rebel, suck up to Muslims, conserve every piece of leftist legislation enacted, suck up to the CBC, exclude any policy input from the ridings, and follow the lead of a leaderless party, you got it.” Despite its efforts in trying to lose the support of its base, the CPC has actually gained a little popular support since the last election while the Liberals have lost more. That must have come from the mindless mushy middle that seems so important to Scheer and co. Too bad the base has shifted towards Max. Very few people voting for Max seriously think that his nonparty is electable, those are called protest votes.

I live in an NDP held riding and it will be interesting to see if that support shifts to the Greens as it is elsewhere. If that happens, we either get a Conservative or a Green depending on volume.

      1. Exactly. Scheer inspires NOBODY. Not the left, not the centre, not the right. He’s got the charisma of a wet sock, an intellect barely a few points above Shiny Pony himself, and only seems to get really worked up when he’s hit FROM THE RIGHT. He’s far more aggressive battling anyone to his right than to his left. He can’t seem to try & ingratiate himself to the latter fast enough. A government led by him isn’t going to accomplish squat that will matter in the long run; it’ll just mark time until the next Liberal unseats him.

I’ll probably vote for whatever CPC sacrificial lamb runs in my riding (I live in Geoff Regan’s riding; it’s his by supermajority as long as he wants it) but if there’s a PPC candidate, what the hell.

        1. I agree with all the comments about Andrew Scheer being “Trudeau-lite”, except that he’s not a narcissist, is more intelligent, and has the interests of all of Canada in mind. Max Bernier was not my first choice, but he could have been good. That said, Scheer is the only option CPC has. So I will vote for him. Bernier hasn’t got a chance, other than to split the vote and have the petty satisfaction of poking a stick in Scheer’s eye. Spitefulness is not a quality I admire in a politician.

I miss Stephen Harper. Just finished reading his book “Right Here, Right Now”. Now there’s an intelligent guy.

          1. Harper was a loser regardless what his book claims! Intelligent people don’t let the village idiot Turdeau beat them.

          2. You see Harper wasn’t a real conservative. Neither is Bernier, but that seems lost on many.
At 1% Bernier was no threat, at 4-5%, unless tactically directed (QC for example), statist hegemony is guaranteed.
A second Trudeau term is all they need to put an end to this nation.
I know many, duly frustrated, want an end to our nation, but I would like not lose the election before it starts.
As for the real conservatives, aka racist pigs in CBCspeak, here’s a nibble of what’s in store for Herr Bernier.
Canada is under threat from member of, gasp, alleged, hate group. Or is it described?
Anyway, those racists are all the same. The evidence you ask?
A researcher who makes a living studying alleged hate thinks it might be true.
Then Bernier took a photo with them. Connect the dots folks.
The CBC scribbler is on side with the alleged hand signals, as described by US anti-defamation Marxists.
The problem with those phonies and haters is well – they’re just not their kind of collectivists.
Of course Bernier retreated to the excuse that all Canadians were actually welcome at his events. Clear fascism.
Maybe it will happen anyway (hint: BC NOT SEPARATING so mega economic fallout), but why guarantee it?
The article is too ridiculous to quote. Imho at 2% Bernier is hopeless, double that, AB & SK inside the sandwich.

          3. “has the interests of Canada at heart”..?? Seriously.?
Then I Guess you too are:

Pro CO2 Climate change – Pro CO2 Taxation – Pro the BS of renewables etc.
Pro Islamification of Canada – Scheer is deathly afraid of being considered “islamophobic”
Pro MONOPOLIES – Telcomm – Airlines – Dairy: the three that continually & Daily bone Canadians up the (_i_).
Anti Free Speech (see MP Cooper)
Pro UN – Open borders etc.
            Pro CBC

And he’d likely initiate some extra form of gun control just to kiss the Butt of the GTA.

If thats a “conservative” position..?? thats beyond laughable & I could give a shit if that splits the vote…another term of PM dipshit .?? and the WEST is GONE sunshine..BET on it.

            To hell with that.
#BernierNation …all 4 of us in this household.

      1. No, he’s not.

He has 10% of the charisma of Trudeau but about 90% of the same policies.

The true traitors in this country are the people in the CPC who worked to get Weak Andy the leadership.

        1. Prove it, policy by policy. Show us your data. If being traitor is surely handing us over to the collectivists, you are it.

        2. Kulak: The Paris Accord – It’s politics.

I’m not pumping Scheer’s tires all I’m saying is there is only one viable alternative to bongo and that’s the CPC.

In the last poll in AB the PPC didn’t even register. Not 1%. As a libertarian I am on board with Max but he’s got a snowballs chance of winning anything including his own seat.

I’ve been around politics long enough to hold no expectation of what a CPC government might do but I’d bet 10 cents right now they’d look favourably on the west.

    2. George -So Andy stand for nothing is our knight on a shining steed who will ride to our rescue. And by some miracle he overcomes the negative press, the labelling and that pesky Max and gets elected. So somehow by being Liberal like enough the 60% and their media cohorts love him( I am now suppressing laughter). Should by some twist of fate the unelectable is elected he has about 3 seconds before the media starts chewing him up and spitting him out. And in a short while we are back on the climate change -diversity- gender equality-irregular resident band wagon. ( if we get off for even a second with Andy – unlikely). The present agenda has been 50 years in the making. It has been successful for the most part in the quest for power. They are not going to stop. We need to get off the treadmill. And it isn’t Max and his supporters fault. Time for a new country.

    3. It really baffles me that the Liberals are polling as high as they are.

But the show is not over yet.

I wouldn’t count Scheer out. I have met him. I have talked to him. He is smart.

      The Conservatives are pacing themselves.

    4. 4.5%?
Thats 250% more than they were just last week, the CPC is doomed.
Scheer may as well quit right now and take out membership in the party that best fits him,Liberals.
At that rate of growth Max will have 72% of the vote in just six weeks.
Never mind that the summer polls are historically the most meaningless of this futile pastime.
To the Max,cause I am gonna have a new country, one with a massive reduction in freeloaders and institutional Parasites.

  1. In Theresa May’s Britain, the government packs your lunch, the foxes caper unmolested, and just like in the Commonwealth, French Canadians get to rip off the English.

Mindgeek, the Internet pornography empire based on Décarie Boulevard in Montreal, is charging British adults £4.99 each to verify their age before allowing them to access Mindgeek sites (viz. almost every porn website on Earth).

Anybody who pays up is cheated of his five quid, as any teenager with any computer savvy at all can use a VPN to fake a location outside the UK.

    1. Insane, ignorant people that have no concept of how air conditioning positively impacted economic development around the world, nor how many deaths in the aged and infant populations have been prevented over many decades.
This is beyond irresponsible. This is pure malevolence. Such a misinformation/indoctrination campaign has to be stopped, somehow.

    2. Hmm, must be the Legionnaires’ disease.. They should try sanitizing their evap. coils once in a while…

    3. Hahahaha … these empty-headed eco-zealots don’t even know what they’re proposing. They imagine AC being eliminated from “rich peoples” homes … from every “MacMansion” … yeah! Make those rich people sweat!

What these infantile adults don’t consider is that they will be turning off the AC in every business, supermarket, hospital, and animal shelter. Las Vegas, Phoenix, and the Southern half of the US would empty-out in about 2-years.

But wouldn’t THAT be a fantastic “optic” for the global Warmists? Allllll those people migrating north … to escape the heat of “global warming”?

    1. John has always put his Oriental fetish ahead of his country, and always will.

His priority now is being able to go back sooner rather than later to enjoy raping north Korean girls trafficked into China for immoral purposes. (The virtue of Han Chinese girls isn’t as cheap as it was in Mao’s day.)

    2. Spencer says Johnny’s disloyal. I say he’s a drunken traitor. But at least he can blame the booze. There are far too many stone cold sober Canadians who will parcel up the once GWN and sell it for thirty pieces of gold.

    3. Well thats interesting.
John always was one to be a bit lackadaisical on keeping the inside baseball inside.
The subtext is that because the Chinese have been walking all over us its had the effect of depressing the liberal base.
      Translation.
The polls when done the “right way” by over sampling liberal respondents, will result in a statistical bump. But if taken accurately the real result is likely a decline in liberal voters feeling like they actually want to head to the polls in October.
So everyday that Meng stays under house arrest is bad for the liberals.
This should be analyzed further to dig down to uncover all the factors that influence the liberals base.
One likely factor is that as long as the situation continues it reveals how weak Trudeau is as a leader.
He seems unable to get this resolved.
No one will take his calls.
      No one takes him seriously.
      He is ineffectual.
If the idea takes hold, it can be capitalized on.
Just a matter of having an opposition party take the idea and running with it.
      Not holding my breath.

      1. “He is ineffectual.”
C’mon Joseph. I’m pretty sure he f**ked his wife three times.

  2. The Dominion of (West) Canada? Has a nice ring to it. I know this article dated December 2018, but is still worth seriously considering as the polls have PM Inept gaining rapidly.

According to University of Calgary political philosopher Barry Cooper, Laurentian Canada – that is, the Canada of the St. Lawrence River Valley — has sought to ensure its primacy over the west since before Confederation. Historical patterns have emerged, and we see clear parallels between Pierre Trudeau’s National Energy Program and the assault on the oil patch by the current Liberal government. To prevent the emergence of a strong and autonomous west, one which would pose a threat to the primacy of the Laurentians, the oil industry must be neutered. Prof. Cooper suggests that the abuses and injustices imposed by the Laurentians make the Dominion of West Canada a real possibility.

    1. Thank you for this post, I have copied and sent it to friends. The article sets out succinctly how the Federal Liberal party and Ontario/Quebec are killing the golden goose of Alberta. I am planning to spoil my ballot in October by writing “Western Separation” on it. I cannot vote for my MP, Andrew Scheer, as he has “underwhelmed” me with his performance of the past 4 years.

      1. Then why would you not Vote for Max..?
Try reading his platform – He’s the only true Conservative running…IMO.

        1. I agree with Max’s platform and am so disappointed in Sheer’s performance that I wanted to support Max. We went to his rally here in Calgary and spoke to him personally. That has changed my mind. He came across as egotistical and unbending. He wants Scheer to have a minority so he can hold the balance of power to steer the CPC from behind. However, looking at his past history in politics, he seems to have trouble getting influential people on his side. Politics requires playing political games to make things happen. Our summary of Max’s problems is that he “doesn’t play well with others.” I wish him well and hope he can wangle a balance of power situation, but he has lost our votes.

    2. I like the Dominion of Rupertsland better. I even like it’s flag – the old HBC Red Ensign.

  3. Thank goodness for global cooling. On this date in 1936, it was so hot in Toronto that people were dying of heat prostration. It was the third consecutive day of 105 F heat and 80 degree overnight “lows.” This was the worst of the various 1930s heat waves. Narrative busting? You bet, but the media won’t mention it to the sheeple (imagine if it happened now) … deeper doo-doo for climate change religionists can be found in this list of other days when Toronto exceeded 100 F — 1854, 1911, 1916, 1918, 1948 and 1953.

This is no phoney humidex heat either, real air temperatures measured in the same place more or less that they measure now for Toronto City (near Varsity stadium).

None of those people thought to pay a tax to get cooler weather, but we will are being to asked to do so. Can you see the logical disconnect there?

I’ll confess, I believe in climate change. Our climate appears to be changing for the better.

    1. One thing about the climate of the planet, it will change constantly whether or not the human species survives. It changed for millions of years before we were here and continues to do so.

    2. “None of those people thought to pay a tax to get cooler weather”

      Climate indulgences?

    3. ah yes. good ol’ gaia.
she gonna cover up and have a snooze under a mile of ice in another 400,000 years,
or mebbe switch off the magnetic field for fun and see what those pesky parasites do about it.
or mebbe cook them all like her sister Venus and start over in 250 million years.

gawd some people are so stooooopid when it comes to the Big Picture.

cawwwwbum tax. tax and squander, and spend a teensy bit of the cash buying the media.
kinda like a mobster a la Al Capone or the teflon don. yessiree!!! no vandalism in THEIR neighborhood eh?
‘cost of doin business, ALL a tax writeoff to boot. WHEEEEEE !!!!!

today’s skill testing Q: who gets the pointy end when the whole bumpkin country b’longs to da lieberals?
(put yer hand up if youse secretly hopes pm sockpotato winds up on the receiving end of a bomb put tagedder
by the terrorist he just gave back his passport)

      1. It is not about Gaia or saving the planet. It is about imposing people control and imposing a Marxist socialist agenda. Taking over where the Soviet Union left off. No doubt this time they will get it right.

    1. I think it is time to get over the we were here first nonsense. Those who were here first is different every 110 years or so. I have been here much longer than anyone younger than me and that list grows longer everyday. We cannot ever keep anything forever.

      1. My ancestors came to this planet at the same time everyone else’s did.

Twenty thousand years ago no one lived in North and South America. Along came climate change, the ice melted, and some humans (hu-people for all the Trudeau fans), gradually moved in and killed all the large mammals.

They settled perhaps the richest of all continents…and did nothing (except wipe out all the large mammals).

        1. Exactly. First Nations referring to “everyone else” is as racist as it gets.
It is no different than saying I’m better than someone because of the colour of my skin.
The word race is a misnomer anyway. Biologists, zoologists and anthropologists don’t even recognize it.

    1. What an incredible over reach by authoritarian US prosecutors as usual and a really disingenuous headline.

Whatever the financing arrangements for the vessel are, it is operated and de facto owned by MSC. They are a multinational shipping line with hundreds of vessels. Smuggling and trafficking by insiders (usually low paid crew) will happen and does happen every week. MSC and all the other main carriers have systems in place to try and prevent this. Crafty criminals will always find a way around their security. It’s as stupid as seizing an Air Canada plane because CBSA found someone on board the plane with 10 condoms of cocaine shoved upside their arse.

There are 10s of thousands of containers onboard that vessel. Literally billions of dollars worth of companies and peoples goods. They are now going to be delayed, large fees will have to be paid and the goods possibly ruined by the actions of an overzealous prosecutor. Peoples livelihoods are at stake.

Trust me, I am in this industry. This kind of nanny state over reach makes my blood boil. Massive collateral damage so some peacock in the Philly states attorney office can make a name for himself in the news.

      1. it all started with the INFAMOUS ‘little rascals’ day care case.
apparently yarns about sharks jumping over the boat trumped the
        utter
        complete
        ABSENCE
        of
        convincing
        forensic
evidence. thus the ‘deal making’ kicked in big time.
aka ‘fess up or its gonna gits wurse fer youse, and we can arrange a jail house snitch along the way’.

  4. Why is Weather Analysis so Corrupt?

Posted Jul 10, 2019 by Martin Armstrong

QUESTION: Your correlations about the weather have been very interesting. What I understand is that as the climate has shifted into solar minimum, the weather gets more volatile with colder winters and spike heat waves in summer that decline in duration. Then for some reason, this is also the same period when volcanoes become more common. Do you have any idea why there seems to be such stubbornness in viewing history and correlating the data for what it simply is?
    MF
ANSWER: I believe the problem stems from this idea of linear thinking which so many use in these fields to the exclusion of just looking at the data. As I have explained before, Chaos Theory emerged from studying weather. The Father of Chaos Theory is Edward Norton Lorenz (1917–2008) who was an American mathematician and meteorologist. Lorenz was certainly THE pioneer in Chaos Theory. A professor at MIT, Lorenz was the first to recognize what is now called chaotic behavior in the mathematical modeling of weather systems.

During the 1950s, Lorenz observed that there was a cyclical non-linear nature to weather, yet the field relied upon linear statistical models in meteorology for weather forecasting. It was like trying to measure the circumference of a circle with a straight-edge ruler. His work on the topic culminated in the publication of his 1963 paper Deterministic Non-periodic Flow in the Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, and with it, the foundation of Chaos Theory. During the early 1960s, Lorenz had access to early computers. He was running what he thought would be random numbers and began to observe a duality of a hidden repetitive nature. He graphed the numbers that were derived from his study of convection rolls in the atmosphere. What emerged has been perhaps one of the most important discoveries in modern time.

  5. Maxime Bernier
    @MaximeBernier

Bernier slams Scheer, appeals to Kenney on Alberta tour: ‘You picked the wrong leader’

On Tuesday, Bernier criticized Scheer’s response to St. Albert Conservative MP Michael Cooper’s reading an excerpt of the Christchurch shooter’s manifesto into a parliamentary hearing. Cooper apologized and Scheer removed him from the Justice Committee last month.

    https://edmontonjournal.com/news/politics/bernier-slams-scheer-appeals-to-kenney-on-alberta-tour-you-picked-the-wrong-leader

      1. The CPC are the traitors to all conservatives since they are now a center left party with a leader that’s too afraid to stand up for anything conservative even free speech for Cooper but they sure love the Liberal ideals it’s in The CPC Platforms.

Who in the CPC thought having two Liberal parties was a great idea.

        Fools

    1. If the leaked memos are any indication of his Diplomatic capabilities and expertise I can only assume his Knighthood was earned for good attendance. Theresa`s effusive support for this pillock only confirms she is, and always has been, unfit for any leadership position. Inept, to use Sir Kimberleys word.

  6. Can’t wait for the day….but I’m not holding my breath.

    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/07/what_it_will_take_for_the_wind_and_solar_industries_to_collapse.html

“My own best guess, after considerable technical study, is that it is near a sure thing that the threat of global warming is imaginary and largely invented by the people who benefit….At some point, the governments will wake up to the waste and foolishness involved.”

PS: I wouldn’t put any money on the Dairy Queen.

    1. “At some point, the governments will wake up to the waste and foolishness involved”.

An intensely naive comment as the governments are in on this. They benefit from the increase in taxes. The world has been warming since the 1850s. While it continues to warm the 90% carbon tax returned to us with be reduced to 0% and eventually the tax will increase. The government has already “awoken” to this opportunity. The foolishness is on the part of the tax payer who puts up with a tax that cannot lower the earth’s temperature.

  8. Breaking news from the CBC. The Trudeau is blaming someone else besides Harper. The Liberal government is blaming Doug Ford for the layoffs at the Bombardier plant in Thunder Bay. Just ignore that Groper recently pledged billions for Montreal’s subway and has ignored Ontario’s request for money for transit projects.

  9. The libranos have seats in northern Ontario. They have an inept minister Cowpatti Hagdue in Thunder Bay to protect.

To be fair tho the Ford government has been a train wreck.

      1. So I gather the Liberals are hoping the paper Canadians burn down our parks so they can blame it on global warming so we really need that Carbon Tax.

    1. I have not seen anything particularly outrageous being done by the Ford government — just the usual whining from the public service and teachers. I’m pretty happy with Ford.

      1. Me too Ford is better than a liberal or NDP government.

It’s just the Presstitute Media blowing their Leftists tripe.

  10. Trudeau’s loyal UNIFOR media continues to ramp up that Doug Ford caused the layoffs in Thunder Bay. And CTV won’t be outdone. They had comrade Horwath of the NDP crazies on denouncing Ford. Nothing to do with the election of course. We need to pump more billions of taxpayer dollars into Bombardier.

    1. What did Ford do? Not give the company enough taxpayer dollars? That won’t stick. Most Canadians do not favour taxpayer bail outs of private companies — especially those who have already benefited greatly from government hand outs. Ford should turn the tables on these guys.

    2. “We need to pump more billions of taxpayer dollars into Bombardier.”
What? The Bombardier family needs another $30 million in bonuses. Somebody tell them they can wash their Ferraris instead of buying new ones.

  11. I feel driven to share this with you folks.
having some coffee with a couple blokes, and it occurred to me, my life is like an acorn.
that has a huge pile of steaming shit dumped on it.
the apparent humiliation and disaster is actually a good thing.
the nutrients surging into the little acorn from the steaming pile of shit give it a head start, and soon the acorn pops up thru the shit
into a big wonderful world full of promise, opportunity, and refuge.
    its just gonna take time.
but the little acorn has a head start because of the humiliation of getting shit dumped on it.
fast forward 68 years, the little acorn is a big imposing very healthy oak tree, giving refuge to the birdies and critters,
shade for others, and the shit has long, long all washed away.
the Good Lord can bring benefit from the utter worst possible situations, but you need to trust and be patient.
be patient. be patient, and let that unyielding trust see you thru until the payoff.
and curiously, the ones who piled on the shit? well, a lot of them, ummmm, not doing too good.
68 and still get by without eyeglasses, DROPPED 30 pounds since the turn of the century whereas 95% of the rest of the guys
have ADDED to their girth in stereotypical fashion.
    etc etc.
be persistent, dont take crap from anyone, be vigilant, work ethic etc etc.
and a salute to Kate for providing this forum.

    1. So Max will end the farce that sees Quebec make $1.7 billion a year from Churchill Falls, while Newfoundland gets…$65 million?

      Well Max?

      1. The decision is the latest round in a battle that reached the Supreme Court of Canada, which ruled last year that Hydro-Québec had no obligation to modify its 1969 Churchill Falls deal, which has provided much more financial benefit to Quebec than to Newfoundland and Labrador.

The deal has yielded close to $28 billion in profits to Quebec, compared to just $2 billion for Newfoundland and Labrador.

Under the agreement, which is valid until 2041, Hydro-Québec can purchase the majority of electricity from the central Labrador facility. The utility had argued successfully the deal was valid because it had assumed all the costs and risks that came with the project when the contract was signed.

        https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/quebec-churchill-falls-hydro-1.5183162

        1. I am well aware of the supreme court decision. It is another example of how Quebec feeds at the Canadian trough)

And Quebec will not allow any new power (i.e. muskrat falls) to cross their province, unless they get very favorable terms.

I’ve lost the link, but i remember reading that a majority of Quebecers thought Quebec made equalization payments to the rest of Canada.

          1. Joe

Froggy labors under the delusion that he’s paying the freight here in Canada. All evidence to the contrary be damned.

The Newfies got sold down the river on Churchill Falls by Small…wood (howz that for a name?). The same tribute will be extracted on any future deal involving quebekkie.

How dumb are newfs – to keep voting librano? When are they going to wake up?

  12. Great Leader Groper is having a discussion at the National Teachers Conference tomorrow. Expect our little dictator to trash Ford. This will go well with the tons of money teachers are spending on anti-Ford ads. Nothing to do with the election of course.

    1. “As the article was being readied for publication, Epstein made a visit to the office of Vanity Fair’s then-editor, Graydon Carter, and suddenly the women and their allegations were removed from the article. “He’s sensitive about the young women,” Carter told me at the time. (Editor’s Note: Carter has previously denied this allegation.) He also mentioned he’d finagled a photograph of Epstein in a swimsuit out of the encounter. And there was also some feeble excuse about the article “being stronger as a business story.” (Epstein had also leaned heavily on my ex-husband’s uncle, Conrad Black, to try to exert his influence on me, which was particularly unwelcome, given that Black happened to be my ex-husband’s boss at the time.)”

  13. Next time you gaze upon your lofty Rogers’ cellphone bill, try to placate your anger in the knowledge that Rogers Communications apparently needs a lot of dough-ray-me for a new ballpark for their baseball team.

There are hints that Rogers might actually be coming cap-in-hand to the taxpayers for yet further stadium subsidization. And looky here: the guy sitting in the Mayor’s chair down at City Hall just happens to be the same guy who is still very well-connected with – you guessed it — Rogers.
