  1. I am reminded of the weird fashions and make-up worn by those who live in the Capital in The Hunger Games series. The election of Donald Trump was the first volley from the deplorables in fly–over country (AKA the regions). I truly believe that there will be a second American civil war after the Presidential election in November 2020. I wonder what will happen in western Canada when the federal Liberal party wins in October of this year?

    1. My first thought was that putting them through a literal Hunger Games would be far more entertaining for everyone than just a famine that affects solely these idiots, but I’m OK either way. 🙂

    2. Yep, that’s where my thoughts went to as well – The Capitol in the Hunger Games.

IMO, it is not the decadence, the bizarre outfits or the tacky display of wealth that is the main issue. Celebrities, aristocrats and the rich have always had their Versailles and Grand Balls. No, it is that the uber privileged have taken to scolding the less wealthy, less privileged to reduce their ecological footprint and become “woke”. The pretentious peacocks use their influence to get the political class to force socially and economically damaging legislation upon regular people. An arrogance and hypocrisy almost beyond comprehension. That’s how populism gains traction.

    1. I see that … Canadian … Celine Dion went dressed as an aging scarecrow. Huh? I didn’t know she was from the Praire Provinces?

    2. Whack jobs. Every. Last. One. What I find astonishing is that there are people – and I use the word loosely – out there who actually like/appreciate this crap.

    1. My first thought when I saw the picture. When they’re not carrying her ridiculous train, they stand on her front lawn wearing jockey togs and holding lanterns. No racism in the celebrity world. No no no.

  2. I’d like to parachute all who attended and ‘performed’ into an Indian slum.

  3. The decadence* of the rich socialists is something to behold.

It used to be in earlier times when decadence was looked at as something to avoid, something bad manners, something not done in decent society.

Today, it is ok as long as it’s wrapped up in doing something warm and fuzzy for the “benefit” of the downtrodden and the starving of the Costume Institute.

This is how rich socialists operate and they will probably win before all hell breaks lose.

  4. maybe not a famine but a really big bomb. that crap doesn’t even come close to being entertainment.

    1. Many of the participants have apparently already imposed a famine upon themselves. For ex. Canadian singer Celine Dion went dressed as a Buchanvald survivor.

  5. It’s not Al Gore’s fault that suckers will pay for him to fly on private jets, to lecture them about how they need to live with less.

It’s not Trudeau’s fault an entire country is going to elect him to 89 straight majorities.

    1. But there WAS one contestant who went dressed as half-man, half-woman … err, as one-third man, one-third woman, one-third “transitioning woman” (the “woman-half” was sporting a beard)

  6. In total, millions must have been spent on the outfits in that event.

    1. “…very ripe prey for someone or something…”

It costs money to show off that you have money.

    2. “You, you peasants. You can always eat cake. You know? Cake? That yummy stuff?”

  7. 2 factoids I was previously unawares:
the gaga has a backup career as a stripper, and
    celine is anorexic.
the decadence thing takes 3rd place.
waaaaaaaay more money than brains. this behaviour will backlash real real hard when it happens.
the swirling masses have it all on their ipods unlike ever before and will know who to target and why.

funny how the old USSR kept harping about western decadence, but look what happened to them.
I guess the decadence thing is just another cost of doing business.
it seems they also have waaaaaaaay to much time on their hands.
“those who refuse to learn the lessons of history” etc.

  8. And did they buy “carbon offsets” for this one, or was that particular brand of virtue signaling not on this event’s menu?

  9. And these are the people who think we don’t pay high enough taxes. Naturally, they have lawyers to see to it they don’t pay a cent of taxes themselves.

  10. Anything goes…this spectacle …is de limit…
    it’s delightful
    and simply de-lovely!

  11. I have to confess I got a kick out of Seven Eye Chick. If you got drunk out on a date with her, she’d become Twenty One Eye Chick before you passed out.

    1. This is just our rulers rubbing our noses in it. I am reminded of those exaggerated 18th century “pompadore” hairstyles, that put beehgives to shame.

    2. I believe that was inspired by a between-war surrealist painting.
