      2. The natives living on the Bruce Peninsula are a mixed bag. Some are descendants of Ojibways who killed off the Iroquois who had been living there (who had killed off whatever group that had lived there before). But also many are of other groups who were expelled from the USA after having fought for the crown during the war of 1812 holding off American invaders.
        Some further south were allied with the British during the American Revolution. Atrocities committed by British troops have been attributed to the Indians.
        Being allied to the British in both wars, the natives were forced off their traditional lands in the USA and resettled in Ontario. The crown made treaties, keeping them divided and dependent on handouts while ever changing the terms/treaties.
        The crown (hangers on) profited by colonizing the lands with starving Irish and displaced Scots and refugees from war torn Europe. The settlers worked and paid for the land and now their descendants and newcomers are being called on to pay for the mistakes of the past that they aren’t responsible for. Where is the justice in that???

  7. I so hate to do this, but just had to bring this up again here at the Supreme Court of SDA. Every small town has a park bench or two downtown or a small café where the cowboys and farmers gather to talk weather and argue politics. In the summer the Supreme Court often holds session on the Park Bench.
    When it’s -40 the Supreme Court is in Session in the nearest Café with the cheapest coffee, with lots of refills and no parking meters.
    It has come to me that SDA is like that Park Bench or Café. So I Declare the SDA Supreme Court in Session on this matter of Alberta’s Jurisdiction over its resources and the Legality of the Carbon Tax. I forwith present my facts. Again as no wags took my bait yesterday.
    For all the speculators on whether Alberta has the Constitutional Power to restrict its resources, Premier Lougheed already did that in 1980 and won. He also took the Federal Govt to the Supreme Court on Federal Tax on oil and gas and won that case as well. It did not used to be like that, read up on what a Confederation is, it is an agreement for Sovereign states or in our case Provinces to work together for mutual benefit.         Here is one fact, Albertans have paid in 1T dollars to Ottawa since 1961. That coming from a population of less than 4M people. Albertans have a legitimate beef here.
        It matters not what the drooling slack jawed idiot Chretien did, or what the SCOC ruled, or what the ROC wants what is going on now is criminal. If this continues and if the ROC and Ottawa do not backwater and pretty damn quick, it is going to happen anyway.
        Alberta can go UDI whether the UN or anybody else thinks it is right or wrong. Alberta has a Head of State, Alberta has a Parliament, Alberta has a Supreme Court, Alberta has a Prime Minister elected by a substantial majority to fight for the Alberta people. And Alberta has a clearly defined border.
        UDI is legal and will probably be what happens. Nobody likes UDI domestically or Internationally, the alternative to UDI is always Civil War. It immediately ends SCOC involvement, ends all Indian Treaty’s it ends all Federal Treaty’s.
        Albertans have the Right of Eminent Domain meaning we possess the land. Every blade of grass and drop of water and barrel of oil in Alberta belongs to the people of Alberta and no one else.
        When you get right down to it Albertans have no equal voice in Canada politically. The whole structure is rigged for vote buying by Ottawa of the voting block that supports their policies, their ideologies.
        So Criminal levels of taxation, no equal vote, no Triple E Senate to balance regional differences, and now the ROC and Ottawa want to take away our bread and butter. Not going to happen, just not going to happen.
        We are a Freedom loving bunch here in Alberta and we believe in fair play. Ottawa has been dealing off the bottom of the deck for years and the Whores of the ROC have been benefitting by the illegal ill gotten gains. Ottawa and all of the ROC can go to hell. Anyway my 2 cents.

    1. Ontario tried shooting some activists claiming land a few years back. That didn’t go over well.
      These land claim cases have been dragging on forever and along the way the SOC has ruled that the crown lawyers need to find a better way of proceeding. So the directive predates JWR.
      And its not just about the natives. There are plenty of examples of where the crown abuses the legal process against non-natives also at the expense of the taxpayer.

      1 — paying tax to more than one entity
      2 — the farther away the entity is, the worse it becomes

      Basically, you need to limit it to a single tax collector. And that tax collector has to live within walking distance of you. Any one else who wants money has to ask for it from your local guy.

      Imagine if all the taxes you currently paid were rolled into one big payment, and it was your next door neighbour, and ONLY your next door neighbour who came by every week to collect it.

      GST, PST, gas tax, income tax, corporate tax, excise tax, property tax, capital gains tax, death tax, inheritance tax, tax tax, tax tax tax tax, …

      When there are 25 people collecting different taxes, and they are all allowed to come up with different schemes to obscure how much they are taking, and they are allowed to levy taxes on the other guy’s taxes, …

      1. Exactly Kevin, some Canadian with the money should take it to the International Court, well on 2nd thought. One of the Constitutional Proposals that I put to Dannielle Smith was that Alberta end the Feudal Title system of In Fee Simple, and make land titles for home ownership Allodial Titles. In that way they could not be taxed. The with holding of tax monies is the difference between Freedom and Slavery. I am talking about homes or personal property here. I would make the Province #1 the Local Government #2 with the Proviso that the property owner would not be paying tax on his personal property. And the Feral Feds could have the crumbs. I would limit the total take to 20-25% as I stated above. Meaning a total tax of 25% and that would mean no death duties or capital gains either.

    When I read this I was stunned. Then I realized with an election coming up Team Turdeau has been cooking the books a la Kathleen Wynne. Some SDA readers are more astute than me re the federal books, so maybe others can figure out where the money “went”.

    I suspect a whole bunch of spending payments have been deferred to the next fiscal year which I believe started April 1 2019. And perhaps some credits were moved forward to March 2019.

    All this so Turdeau can say he “balanced” the budget.
