“Nike’s bidding”? If they find the facts are consistent with a complaint they have a duty to act, even if it was Nike that brought the complaint.
DId I miss something in that report that suggests Avenatti didn’t do what they reported him doing? I don’t know any reason to like either side in this one but the authorities should act to enforce the law regardless of who is on either end of a complaint.

Avenatti is claiming he has dirt on a HUGE!!! Nike shoe / College Basketball scandal and was about to hold a press conference on it. This story sounds very plausible. Releasing it during the NCAA TOURNAMENT? Ratings gold and great free publicity. There could be some truth to it. Just like his Stormy Daniels fiasco initially sounded plausible too.
Is this a desperate lawyer drowning in debt making an outrageous extortion claim, or a lawyer with a blockbuster legal case against a huge athletic company involved in a sleazy business like college athletics?
