Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

How likely is it that CNN has that much money?
That depends on whether you mean the corporate entity, or the ownership. If they want to keep the corporate entity then they’ll have to raise any awarded costs. If this sinks CNN (or the WaPo) then that’s another form of victory – the folding of the company can forever be pointed to by him as his proof of innocence (and would be bigger news than the original case, ensuring that everyone knows his name is cleared).
I’m assuming WAPO is a money losing vanity project for Bezos. Maybe it depends on how much him and the ex want to continue to support it?
“I just talk about things I like”, combined with the earlier comments about “people on twitter did better reporting than CNN” (paraphrased) explains why the left is cracking down on independent media using mediums that can be controlled by their leftist owners. Are they publishers or pundits? Are the owners of the web systems (YouTube, Twitface, etc) liable for what is posted on them, or are they free to modify and silence the voices on those systems that they disagree with? I don’t know if that will be a factor in this case, most of the lies about what happened to the Covington boys were flying around on Twitter, but the truth that set them free was also posted on there. I don’t think that there will be a case filed against Twitter or YouTube for this news incident.
I think that the “I just talk about things I like” is a large part of why you have such a large following, Kate. Your interests are similar to ours, and your pithy wit (redundant?) cuts to the heart of where and why reporting is misleading.
This is assuming they do not have the friendly Clinton and Obama appointed judges in the right places to protect themselves.
9th circuit? Already decided. THAT is why, if I were Covington boy, I would make the assumption that Trump, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and a lot of other people were watching this, and INSIST that my lawyer take this to the ninth.
Given the guaranteed outcome of that, I would assume that both the executive, and the POTUS with (with judges on it that have personally been Covingtoned/Kavanaughed), would step in to take corrective action.
This lawsuit HAS to take a path through the ninth, if that part of the swamp is to feel any pain.
What the guy in the video is talking about, is called confirmation bias. It is what politicians use to get elected; they figure out what someone wants to hear, then they say that, then they get that vote. Next door, process is repeated.
Kathy Griffin, WaPo, CNN, they got told something they wanted to believe, so they believed it. End of story.
Obama was the queen of confirmation bias….
I couldn’t believe he got away with it….when he campaigned…he would say a different thing depending on where he was
we have a P.M. in Canada who does the same thing.
In two languages, albeit poorly.
Is “er…er..er..um..um..um” a language?
@Frances
He has a bigger vocabulary than that. You forgot ‘ahhh..ahh..ah ‘
He took credit for the increase in US oil production.
Well, if these legal actions succeed in sending the loathsome Kathy Griffin back to Oak Park, Illinois as a night clerk at the Madison Street 7-Eleven, I’ll be happy.
I know I already said this yesterday but….
It’s nice when bad things happen to bad people.
I second that motion.
Hopefully these two and other pending lawsuits are successful to the last dollar. Hurt fake news peddlers in their wallets.
No, what we actually need are martyrs. Remember the farmers in Canada in the 90’s, who loaded their grain trucks, drove to the US border, and got arrested and jailed? That was the beginning of the end of the CWB. If we want CNN to actually lose, people have to SEE the injustice being done. If you want the 9th circuit to end, the injustice that the 9th does MUST BE SEEN.
Justice, in order to actually exist, must be seen to be done; without fail and without exception. Injustice must be forever hidden from view in order to continue; if you want rule of law, you have to coax the doers of injustice out into the sunlight. And that is generally a years or decades long project. It is why Hillary will likely die a free person. It will take decades of slowly weeding out first the tiny shoots of the Clinton machine (the lowliest underlings are always the first to “take one for the team”). Then bigger ones, and bigger, and bigger, …. Years to get to the central root.
When or if they finally make it to the praetorian guard; when people like Abedin or Cheryl Mills or Sidney Blumenthal start to fall, only then will you be close to the end. Before that, there are about 10,000 bit player Ohrs to climb over first.
10,000 bit players, … So … insurmountable ? That’s kinda what your message is saying at the last paragraph. Most people do not wish to be martyrs because the sacrifice made is most often on behalf of ‘ingrates’ who will not appreciate the sacrifice made.
That would be similar to the attitude many young Americans have toward their benefactors, namely the founding fathers and all those to died to protect America’s freedom and prosperity. Think of the civil war dead … thousands died to free the ingrates in the black lives matter community for example.
Perhaps if a few of the ‘bigs’ were toppled first, the bit players would surrender or at least disband due to lost leadership.
It would be funny to hear about Hillary starting a permanent speaking tour in non-extradtion countries…
For example, I am sure Maduro would give some of Venezuela’s wealth for the cause…
But but the Indian is always the VICTIM. The CBC says so, it must be so. The corrupted courts of Injustice say so, it must be so, the Human Rights Star Chambers say so, so it must be so. An Indian would never lie, as long as the grass grows and the rivers flow. I will lie no more forever. Like the big lie of the small pox blankets. The Whiteman should sue the Indians for tobacco addiction, and all the pain and suffering of millions who died of lung cancer. Guilty no more.
When the Lawyers (sharks) see Blood in the Water…..Civil Law suits will flood the plains…. CNN & WAPO will settle Real fast…. Nice to see Lawyers alive & engaged… When are they going to sue Gore & Soros?… “More likely than Not” is a LOW standard
Settle real fast? I’m not sure. Bezos May say “I’ve got more lawyers than you and a lot more money than you”.
Will WAPO launch counter suits? Perhaps some of our southern readers could comment on the likelihood of this.

I couldn’t watch that video to the end as it descended into lawyer speak, which is where it will go from now on. If we’re lucky we might see this case wrapped up by 2026.
The kid might get his legal Bills paid if he’s fortunate, unless his attorneys don’t mind pro bono for several years, but the Defendant’s strategy will be to drag it out for years. By this time next year, most people will only have a vague memory of this case, and the outrage will be long gone.
That’s the main reason why the phrase,”so sue me” has become a joke. A lawsuit means years of legal machinations followed by huge lawyer’s fees, followed by process exhaustion and a desperate desire to “just get on with my life”.
“The kid might get his legal Bills paid if he’s fortunate, unless his attorneys don’t mind pro bono for several years, but the Defendant’s strategy will be to drag it out for years.” Don Morris
You have your hat on backasswards… Fighting a case where the Jury has the discretionary powers to award HUGE damages is not advantages to an “obtuse” defendant… That is why they settle… If they want the Issue to disappear..
Uncle Ben – not the rice guy, but Peter Parker’s uncle – said with great power comes great responsibility.
The WAPO and CNN still have a lot of power as do many other MSM agents. As we see here in Bananada, the responsibility part has become some weird divisive objective to undermine democracy and simply cede all power to bellyachers.
Here’s the latest video from Sandmann’s lawyer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H48UX7k2F5M
The very FIRST legal argument AGAINST the kid will be that he MADE himself a “voluntary public figure” by participating in the Right to Life March … to which he doubled-down by wearing a polarizing Political icon on his head. If his legal team is able to overcome this argument … they will prevail, and he will become so $$RICH$$ that he won’t even need to spend a dime of his money bribing college officials to gain admittance. He will have no use for America’s brainwashing factories aka colleges.
And BTW … how is it that Fox News legal guru Judge Napolitano INSISTS that a 16yo can NEVER prove “damages” from this incident … because he’s a minor, and minor children cannot prove damages … yet … he believes a Climate Change Lawsuit brought by CHILDREN is going to cost the Fossil Fuel Industry $$ Billions in damages. Not to mention how claimants are awarded $Hundreds of Millions in damages against Talcom powder Mfr’s or RoundUp … based on fraudulent science.
Does it make any difference that he, i.e. the students, weren’t participating in the Right to Life March but were waiting for their school bus to pick them up?
Kenji,
So was General Westmorland VS CBS..(went to trial). He won after the CBS communists defamed him… The DARK era of Obama are over & normal justice MAY win again… How much Money is involved…..
legal arguments eh?
some 16 yr old standing around waiting for a friggin bus is NOT a ‘public figure’.
CNN MADE him a public figure. with their broadcasting equipment and personnel.
and they admit parroting other reporting.
looks to me like CNN is handing all sorts of ammunition to the plaintiff.
watch for an out of court, non disclosure settlement.
