I listened to this yesterday when it was originally briefly posted by Kate. I remember being somewhat shocked that Tim Pool was being totally manipulated into censoring himself without seemingly even realizing it.
‘Ooooh, I don’t dare re-quote that…. or that…. or that…. or that… because my remarks will surely be taken out of context.’ Tim Pool is being denied the most basic of American rights, freedom of speech… by Tim Pool. He is actively surrendering to the fascists’ demands and allowing a particular ideology to control his speech. That’s how I saw it, anyways.
Yes he is. In order to avoid getting banned. It is a criticism of the platforms he works on but a reality he works with. Do you self censor yourself ever? At your mother’s house, for instance? At work? C’mon man. Kate wouldn’t ban you if you crossed her lines?

And no, I don’t think Kate would ban me on her platform because I was falsely accused of stating something instead of quoting it in a blog interview somewhere else, but you would have to ask HER about that.
I know my mother would have understood.
However, that’s not what I said or at least not what I meant. Whether Kate would or wouldn’t ban you, I was trying to make the point that it would be out of your control. Maybe that was a bridge too far.
I don’t know who Pool is but I’m assuming he makes his living this way and does not want to get banned for life from one of these sites. Remember Mark Steyn was dragged through a couple of years of hell for quoting a Danish imam in a MacCleans’ article.
Anyway, it seems none of the other commenters actually listened to the the entire conversation but merely clamped on to something tangential that was said early on and decided to deride the people in it and ignore the content. Apparently, listening to the whole thing makes me a fan of Sanders. Who knew? The three hour conversation goes into some detail about social media, fake news, how things are monetized and a lot more about how these things work. I watch the odd Youtube video, have never used Twitter, have never heard of some of these other platforms and no longer use Facebook and I found it interesting and even educational.

Listening to Joe Rogan has made me cringe since his early MMA announcing days. He is a carnival barker.

What struck me as I watched him interact with Pool is that Rogan is as dumb as a box of rocks.
It may be the continuous use of weed or something else, but he comes over as an idiot.
Tim Pool comes off as an intelligent, thoughtful and fair handed in evaluating a lot of topics. But, here’s the thing I just can’t get past. He is a strong supporter of Bernie Sanders. In other words, he supports Socialism. So, I have a very difficult time accepting any of his premises when he fails on such an important and relevant issue to the times we live in. It makes me question his critical thinking on all issues.
My impression is that he comes off as a “reasonable” voice on the left only because his compatriots on that side of the aisle are so massively unhinged. Any other time in our history he would be consider radical leftist. But, they moved the bar so far to the Left, he comes off as moderate. Anyone who can stand behind Bernie Sanders’ platforms while watching him do the absolute opposite personally, or anyone who can pick up a newspaper and witness the turmoil in Venezuela as a result of Sanders type governing and still think he’s a valid, relevant leader with good ideas, is a dolt.
He is not uncritical of Sanders and actual socialism, however. If all those who identified as leftists were actually pretty close to being a classical liberal like this fellow, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in. These labels are so damn constricting. It’s apparent to me that, being a sane, sensible guy, Pool is becoming increasingly aware that the left is leaving him. Been there. Now leftists call me names.
When the premise is wrong all else is wrong.
Bernie Sanders candidacy made sense for ONE reason and ONE reason ONLY … he wasn’t HER. After that … he’s a fkcuing Communist.

Bernie Sanders is goddamned, mutha-fkcuing, communist! Communism has NO PLACE in America, hence, Bernie has NO PLACE in America. Now what did you want to discuss re: Bernie Sanders? His plans for “restraining” Capitalism? His plans for income and wealth re-distribution? His plans for jacking-up taxes on “the rich”? “on capital gains”? on “inter-generational inheritance (aka DEATH taxes)” Is that ad-hoc-enough for you, Twit?
