  1. The Altering of the Deal

Jer 17:5  Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

All the curses are listed in Deut. 28

It’s February which means it’s officially everyone’s favorite time of year: tax season! And while most of us will be putting off tracking down our W-2’s until early April, some people have already managed to file their taxes. And among those early birds, many in the middle class have been shocked to find that instead of the nice little chunk of change they were expecting with their return, they actually owe money to Uncle Sam.

What’s the reason for this financial switcheroo? It stems from President Trump’s tax reform, which was passed in 2017 and was touted by Trump and the GOP as a win for the middle class. However, with the new tax system now in place, Americans are discovering that most of the tax relief from the bill is actually being experienced by corporations.

Meanwhile, many people are seeing an increase in taxes due to the bill eliminating many of the deductions that were used by middle-class families in order to lower the amount of taxes they were required to pay. Most notably, the tax reform placed a cap on deductions for taxes on both state and local levels.

Unsurprisingly, people have not been happy to discover that what they expected to be a decrease in taxes paid is actually an increase. Those who had been supporters of Trump are especially infuriated, as many were under the assumption that he would provide financial relief for middle-class families, something that he consistently promised during his Presidential campaign.

    1. “Most notably, the tax reform placed a cap on deductions for taxes on both state and local levels.”
Yes indeed, “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s!”

And may all the intermediary tax collectors repent and follow the Lord.

    2. Buried lede.

      Must be a Canadian “journalist”.

Nice try but you left out the fact that the taxes were designed to target very specific Democrat constituencies.

      Job well done.

Another instance of Trump using Democrat tactics against their originators.

Too bad Canada’s Conservative Party is addicted to losing and apparently can only emulate Liberal incompetence.

    3. Is it, perchance, that most of those expecting refunds but now owing happen to live in very high-taxation states? Previously, they were allowed to deduct their state taxes from their federal tax owing. This meant that – in effect – states which taxed at lower rates were subsidizing those which taxed at higher rates. President Trump – in either capping or disallowing this deduction (I am not certain which) has – in effect – said to to the residents of higher taxed states that they can no longer offload some of their tax burden to the residents of the lower taxed states.

    1. Canada’s 4th Order of Unelected Government. They can raise a tax or a fee and create law at will, and it is not reviewed by any elected MP’s. Even after you throw the bastard’s out they hang around like a venereal disease. Only Canada retained the Privy Council outside of England all other Colonies abolished this unelected law making body. See the list of your Unelected Rulers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_members_of_the_Queen%27s_Privy_Council_for_Canada

      1. You do realize that the Privy Council doesn’t actually exist. The Cabinet functions as the Privy Council. Incidentally the Constitution doesn’t mention the Cabinet nor the Prime Minister and they do exist. Where does this stupid Privy Council thing keep coming from? Take Political Science 200. I did about 50 years ago and it has served me well.

        1. Extent of meetings of the Privy Council – 1947 to approve marriage of Princess Elizabeth; 1957 to meet with Queen Elizabeth; 1959 to again meet Queen Elizabeth; and 1981 to approve the marriage of Prince Charles. Sounds like an out of control 2nd government – if you are illiterate.

          1. I know you must have failed your course. Here is the Data Base for Orders in Council going back to 1867. When you see Order in Council it means a Law or Rule made without elected MP input. The Privy Council Canada’s Unelected Government. http://orders-in-council.canada.ca/

          1. Orders in Council can cover everything from administrations, rules, regulations even Capital Punishment. From Privy Council website. The Privy Council drafts the Order in Council and it immediately becomes Law when the Gov. Gen. signs it. It does not have to go through Parliament whatsoever. Canada’s 4th Order of Government. The Privy Council was created so the Sovereign did not have to sit in Parliament his Clerk did this for him. Equal to the power of the Sovereign and of Parliament. Canada the Fake Democracy……Orders-in-council address a wide range of administrative and legislative matters, from civil service staffing to capital punishment, and from the disposition of Aboriginal lands to the maintenance of the Parliamentary Library.”

          2. As I said the cabinet, all Privy Council members and all usually elected, perform the functions of the Privy Council. Every government in the world governs by regulation. The laws are a framework and the regulation much of the detail. Orders in council don’t come out of the blue. The legislation authorizing them was passed by Parliament and the cabinet enacting them was elected to administer the country. The non-cabinet members of the Privy Council have zero authority and the post is totally honourary. They are mostly past cabinet members and a few others granted the honour of being “Honourable.”

  2. ‘We Fled From Antisemitism’: French Jewish Woman Recalls Her Family’s 2017 Ordeal in Major TV Interview

“When she spoke with the police later on, Stella said that one officer had told her, “Listen, I’m speaking to you not as a cop, but as a father — you have to leave.” The family did just that, moving that same evening to Stella’s parents house. More than one year on, she said of their experience, “I cry less when I talk about what happened, but I can say that we fled from antisemitism in 2017.””

  3. The federal Liberals are set to block any House of Commons inquiry into the SNC Lavalin affair:
    https://www.thestar.com/politics/federal/2019/02/09/liberals-to-block-opposition-attempt-to-probe-snc-lavalin-affair.html

The fix is in, eh? And on Friday the federal liberals sent anonymous government-official flunkies to speak to our compliant media (Canada Press, CBC News, etc.) stating that interactions with former Attorney General W-R were simply “discussions”, and nothing more. So Saturday’s media just parroted these organized Liberal leaks. Gerald Butts and Katie Telford hold all of the cards on this.

    1. JustPerhaps a different line of reasoning should be offered to those liberals willing to invoke plausible denial.
Let’s take it as true that the allegations are false, let’s also presume that the Globe and Mail took the allegations as true because it was a “trusted source”. For a liberal this escape hatch reasoning is the go to, but the trap is that once taken they have to accept that there are members within the government that are working to undermine the PM.
So then ….. this has all the ear marks of a civil war within the liberal party doesn’t it.
Now it’s just a matter of finding out who is anxious to bump Justin to get into the big chair?
Of course that contention holds water if they want to maintain that the allegations are false.
So who inside that caucus is that ambitious or believe it’s “her turn”?

      1. I think it may be more about wanting to get rid of Butts, Telford and Sockpuppet, rather than someone having personal ambitions. These people are ruining the Liberal brand. They are not competent and lots of insiders know that.

  4. With all the bad vibes from the Nazi opposition parties, Great Leader Kim Jung Trudeau is escaping Ottawa. Yes its time for another taxpayer funded election trip. Our environmentalist prime minister is burning jet to B.C. He will be addressing the most important issue facing Canadians, the Chinese New Year celebrations. Great chance for his adoring crowds and media to pose for selfies and tell him how wonderful he is for the media cameras. Everyone in Canada loves little Justin.

  5. In socialist Alberta everything gets a carbon tax. The media reports that in the communist commune of Edmonton, a man was given a thirteen thousand dollar bill to fight the fire at his house. The important thing is that the bill included a CARBON TAX.

      1. Those would be the ignorant Canadians. I’m not sure which we have more of although I’d bet the stupid/ignorant combo is the most prevalent.

      2. Yes, owg, your oft-repeated bleatings that ‘Canadians are stupid’ regularly pisses me off.

Do you even know what a ‘qualifier’ in grammar is? If you were at all interested in honesty over aggrandizement , you would specify, some, a few, many, most, etc, etc over your ignorant and bigoted insinuation that being Canadian defines you as stupid.

We could debate all day long, owg, about what the percentage of politically stupid Canadians actually is, but that discussion could not be intelligently had without recognizing the intense level of leftist propaganda and brainwashing that Canadians are subject to from birth. Intense brainwashing, propaganda and social-engineering affects smart people too, you know.

Ha, in the end, I don’t really know why your ignorance on that single point gets under my skin… after all… by YOUR own definition… you’re nothing but another stupid Canadian.

        1. You want a percentage. That would be 80% and they are all stupid socialists much like yourself, stupid.

    1. CBC calls Trump a racist today because he keeps bringing up that she lied about her indian heritage.

    1. When we were forced to move because of work in 2009, we figured out what we could afford for yet another mortgage as we start over once again. The bank said we could go $150,000 more than what we wanted. We said no thank you and bought the house we knew we could afford. Almost ten years later, with ever increasing prices on everything, it’s a good thing that we did.

  6. So, according to some here, anyone who disagrees with your viewpoint is “stupid”? That is incredibly arrogant and,um, stupid. Millions of Canadians are well served by their belief in the Liberal Party, or the NDP, or Greens. It’s almost narcissistic to believe anyone who doesn’t share your beliefs is stupid, by which I assume you mean,”of sub-normal intelligence”.

As I’ve said before, most people don’t pay much attention to politics, are NOT the political junkies we are here, and all of them I know are doing quite nicely financially, emotionally, socially, and are reasonably well off, own their own homes, take nice vacations, have good retirement portfolios, BUT they’re “STUPID”?

Ironically, that is the same attitude academics and members of the media have toward the rest of us, we don’t know their field very well,so we’re stupid, same attitude as many lawyers I’ve met.

Btw,IF we are so brilliant, why is it that we LOSE so often?

    https://www.nationalnewswatch.com/2019/02/10/strategic-messaging-russian-fighters-in-arctic-spark-debate-on-canadas-place/#.XGBIvFVKiUl

My Reader tip: the Russians have started doing overflights of the North Pole for the first time in thirty years, perhaps testing the capabilities of Canada’s response. We DO have the Northern rangers up there, and those second hand Aussie F-18’s are on the way.

    1. Well Don Morris,I am unclear to whom you speak, but George Carlin Famously stated the obvious,as in 50% are of below average intelligence,so that covers most of us.
We have been sitting back counting on elected politicians to “save us”.
      Naturally they fail.
What have Canadians done to ensure a better future for our children and their children in an uncertain world?
Besides vote for the “lesser evil” and pay endless taxes, what is it we do here?
Do we have a society that looks forward, intent on protecting its own and building more?
Looks more like a dope smoking couch surfer, living in daddies basement to me, but there again,I really am too stupid to comprehend how

spending on welfare is “Investing in the Future”. “Do not discriminate”,baffles my logic circuits.
“Diversity is Strength”, is so implausible to me,that all I see is Moe.

So from Pierre the Idiot to the Hair Apparent,Canadians have elected these creatures and the henchmen.
Evidence is pretty strong ,Canadians are stupid.

I blame the USA,Trumps fault of course,.for the obvious reasons .
If intelligence has a genetic component, then the top intellects of Canada over the decades have seen Canada as a lost cause and moved to the USA.
      Cold hard cash incentive.
The remaining Canadians are inbred, from the remainders and some losers, kicked out of other countries.
Consequently we come by our systemic stupidity naturally.
      Sarc?

    2. Well said don morris.

I see the Airforce is reporting a shortage of pilots. The ruskies are flying the friendly skies of the Canadian arctic.

    3. “…most people don’t pay much attention to politics, are NOT the political junkies we are here, and all of them I know are doing quite nicely financially, emotionally, socially, and are reasonably well off, own their own homes, take nice vacations, have good retirement portfolios, BUT they’re “STUPID”?”

I agree that they are not stupid. I would suggest rather that a large percentage of the population is woefully misinformed by a media that is in bed with the Liberals and the progressive agenda. A couple of generations of these same people have been and are currently also being brainwashed and lulled in our educational system to accept the radical progressive agenda.
