Does it really stand?
It is unclear how Wilson-Raybould can claim privilege in this case given that in matters of criminal prosecution the attorney general represents the Crown and not the Government of Canada or the PMO. Lawyers I spoke to, including past attorneys general, had differing opinions on the matter.
Yet a compelling case can be made that in a prosecution, any outside political interference would not be covered by privilege because the government and its officials are not the AG’s clients in this case.

I predict the Liberal committee members will block the officials from testifying. The only question is what names they will call the conservatives and NDP.
C’mon, Raybould….time to really speak truth to power, eh?
She may as well spill the beans. They are done with her.
Do you think she is smart enough to understand that she is DONE… They will move her office beside the garbage Bin and avoid her completely…..She stands up NOW, or fades into the dust…..Her choice
That’s right Michael; it appears as though Justin Trudeau has found himself in yet another scandal.
And this one looks to be his most damning yet.
It was reported yesterday that Justin Trudeau’s office attempted to press Jody Wilson-Raybould, when she was justice minister, to intervene in the corruption and fraud prosecution of Montreal engineering and construction giant SNC-Lavalin Group Inc.
Michael, this is wrong on so many levels.
First, this suggests the Prime Minister’s Office was attempting to interfere in a criminal prosecution – which is disturbing on its own.
But what’s worse, it appears that Jody Wilson-Raybould was FIRED for refusing to bow to Trudeau’s unethical demands.
We all know that Trudeau and his inner circle have had MASSIVE ethics issues, but this just took it to a whole new level.
We have seen this elsewhere on the world stage – when leaders dismiss their Attorneys General for defying their orders.
And it’s never a good sign…
Justin Trudeau has responded to these allegations with carefully crafted and legally vetted answers that were far from convincing.
We should all remember that this is the same Prime Minister who said that there was nothing wrong with:
His illegal vacation to the Bahamas;
His Finance Minister having a secret villa in the south of France;
The Mark Norman case; and
His Fisheries Minister giving government contracts to his relatives.
As long as Justin Trudeau is in office, Canadians are going to keep paying for his mistakes.
It’s clear – we must end this behaviour by defeating Justin Trudeau in the next election.
And to do that, we need your help.
Conservative Party of Canada
yes, vote Justin Scheep!!!
I predict that, as so many other scandals involving Shiny Pony, by the end of February this one will be gone and he will get away with it. When you have the bulk of the media in your pocket you are untouchable.
So, I guess he won’t need to stock up on hair gel, will he?
The fact of the matter, the average Canadian voter won’t notice what’s going on and, if they did, they couldn’t care less. They have a defeatist attitude which is displayed by statement such as “What can you do about it?” and “They all do it. They’re all crooked.”
Yet, these people are entitled to cast a ballot.
It’s clear – we must end this behaviour by defeating Justin Trudeau in the next election.
Will this be enough to persuade voters to punt the Lieberals in the next election? I think we all know the answer to that one.
It only takes no more than 10% of electors to swing away from the LIEBrawls to defeat them, and likely less. Given how the votes swayed last election between the EndieCommies, the LIEBrawls and Watermelons, it is conceivable that soft left votes will swing to the Endies or Watermelons, resulting in a CPC majority. It is well within reach, and this massive lapse of ethics , if the Media is indeed seeing blood, and truly going after it, will be the downfall of the vapid Sunny ways movement!
The CPC is a solid 35% plus, it will only take another 5-7% to run the table.
Personally,I will be shocked if Wilson-Raybould says anything else on this case. She has given Trudeau notice that she is pissed off about the demotion, now I expect she will come into line like the good Liberal she is.
Butts will be reminding her that without Trudeau and the LPC she would never have gone very far in politics, probably an NDP backbencher,so she DOES owe the Liberal machine. She should have been outright fired for her remarks in the Bouchie case, so she is indebted to Trudeau on that one.
Very few politicians have any sense of duty or integrity, most of ’em are confused by those concepts, I will be very surprised if W-R is an exception to the rule.
Let us not forget that Trudeau himself also weighed in on the Bouchie case, so he was in no position to drop her for her comments.
Your right she wont talk.
The people of Canada are the client not the LPC. She is not bound by solicitor/client privilege. She is independent of the government.
The libranos may not be quite as clever as they think they are. I’ve heard that bongo describes Katie Telford as ‘wickedly smart’. An odd description but maybe we will see some of her smarts at work here?
Bongo is the face of the LPC. Any damage to his brand will immediately impact them all. If he is damaged goods the long knives will be out. We can only hope.
Bongo’s brand was damaged long ago; now its just a case of making SNC-Lavalin pimps look like paragons of moral rectitude. For a large retirement donation all this can be made to just ‘go away’.
Isn’t that how corruption at the highest level works anyway?

I wonder how much money SNC has given to the Turdeau foundation?
It could be the company, it’s employees, and or their wives, making the donations.
Perhaps Wilson-Raybould is not talking to let this play out longer? Is her animosity towards Butts so great that she is trying to Marshall backbench support?
And I wonder if Judy has any tapes? Get Turdeau denying, denying, denying and then spring the tape. The lie is sometimes a bigger problem than the actual event.
Pretty sure the claim of Solicitor-Client Privilege on the case is an admission of guilt. How could they have consulted to establish that relationship if they never consulted?
What the hey – she stood-up to him. You go, girl!
Tell me, just how many Canadians actually give a damn?
The stealing started immediately with bongo’s government. This isnt some 2nd or 3rd term long in the tooth crowd. These guys got right to it.
JWR could have said no and walked when asked to play ball with SNC-L. She didn’t and then accepted a demotion to a lesser cabinet position. This is telling.
If she was so affronted by the suggestion she play ball with the rules that she refused why then was she okay with being demoted? Something isn’t adding up?
They threw her out because she wouldn’t play their games. Then they shuffle her off to another portfolio where she’ll have to really tell fibs:
” You Veterans are asking for too much money. Right now the Government doesn’t have the money.”
Yeah right, O.K.
ab… furthermore…
It is all about the paycheque and the pension … amounts to millions if she lives a long life. There are a lot of Mall Lawyers eeking out a living, paying GST and the rest. There’s no GST as a politician. That too could amount to a hefty amount.
The pensions kick in at the 6 year mark. The newly minted MPs really really NEED a second term to be on the Government gravy train. This is an important election. We need to boot these extortionists out. Fast.
Nancy, there are currently three vacancies in the Senate Trudeau can offer Wilson-Raybould, if the situation gets desperate.
W-R is not some innocent “gentle woman of aboriginal descent”,she is and always was a Native activist, as was her dad, Bill Wilson. They are members of the Indian Elite in Canada, very much familiar with the machinations of politics.
W-R can parlay this situation into whatever she wants, which is probably a position that would offer her security for the rest of her life. A nice safe Senate appointment complete with a speech extolling the virtues of “one of Canada’s leaders in the fight for Indigenous rights”, and maybe leading another money wasting “commission” on Aboriginal affairs at about $2000 per day for about two years while still a Senator, should fit the bill.

I agree Don.
I had read about her and will share this for others to read if they haven’t had a chance to learn a bit more about her. Connected she is. Royalty she is.
Nevertheless, she is new to this scene with Trudeau as P.M. Perhaps she will be rewarded a Senate seat someday. She is only 47, lots of time. Gotta have many lawyers around the Government, put them all together and Justin gets free advice! Everything comes up roses for these guys. They can make it rain.
Wilson-Raybould should be called before the Canadian Bar Association and unless she changes her position she should be disbarred. Her client is the people of Canada not Justin Trudeau. Surely she learned that much in law school.
