  1. Three Canadian Pacific Rail Crew Members Killed In Derailment

    Three CP Rail crew members have died after a freight train derailed near the Alberta-B.C. border.

    The accident happened close to Field, B.C., around 1 am.

    The train fell about 200 feet off the bridge at the Upper & Lower Spiral Tunnels.

    According to the union, the three deceased individuals are a conductor, a locomotive engineer, and a trainee conductor.

      Seems it was travelling over twice the recommended speed in a dangerous stretch. Preliminary speculation points toward brake or other equipment failure.

      1. I’m not sure about how this works, but the last I heard is that for some reason the train was parked for three hours after a crew change and lost the air and the train started to move with no way to stop it.

    2. This is OT and unrelated to the sad story of 3 dead CPR rail roaders but the railway should never have been built through Kicking Horse Pass. Howse pass just to the north would have been the correct route over the mountains but for inexplicable reasons Howse Pass was overlooked.

    3. Was saddened to hear this news. My condolences to the families.
      I just travelled through this area (on bus) a few days ago. Going west from Alberta from the top of the Kicking Horse pass to the bottom at Field BC is about a 400 meter descent in about 5 Km. The spiral tunnels are about halfway down this big hill. I looked out and saw the railway tracks and thought about the brave men who drive the trains through here.

    What the tax supporters are not talking about is how you go from paying 37% tax at $500,001 income to 70% tax at $10 million. We’re going to need a lot of tax brackets. A billionaires tax will eventually turn into a millionaires tax which will … we all know … turn into a tax increase for the middle class who pay most of the taxes anyway.

    The 37% to 70% tax rates are federal only. If you live in California add an extra 12.3% to get 49.3% currently and potentially over 80% of the money you earn is taken away as tax.

      The memorial ball carton reminds me of a tourist information centre I stopped at when I made some road trips to my house two years ago. The staff put a metal bowl filled with water near the entrance with a reminder that dogs get thirsty, too.

    1. Ezra is a gem. I once shook his hand and squeezed it, telling him how much I missed his TV Show on the now defunct Sun News Channel. He was very gracious. I support him totally.

      1. I remember reading his long letters and commentaries in the University of Alberta student newspaper The Gateway during the early and mid-1990s. He was much the same back then like he is now.

      2. The house I inherited from my father is located in NE B. C., a region of the country which the leftist elite, particularly that in Lotusland, regards as flyover country because many of the people there would be considered members of the deplorables. During the course of my work there in the last two years, I’ve dealt with a variety of people, including contractors who come by the house to buy some of my father’s tools.

        I’ve yet to meet anyone who has anything good to say about Prinz Dummkopf and his merry gang of bunglers. Then again, since that region is in a remote part of the country and the riding covers a large geographical area, what anybody thinks there won’t matter in an election. Unless voters there elect a Lieberal MP, whoever represents them in Ottawa will most certainly be ignored by the government.

          Just saw tonight’s SOTU Address by President Trump. IMO it was the best speech by any U.S.President. I cried when he introduced Soldiers & Camp Survivors from WWII. Bravo, Mr President.

          On the contrary, the Democrats in the House were miserable looking people, running on hate. It will be interesting to hear what the body language experts have to say about them, especially Nancy Pelosi. That cow was distracting the viewers by chewing on her regurgitated dinner and munching on the left side of her silly mouth. She spent a lot of time shuffling papers behind Trump. What a mental case! The Dems who did not applaud President Trump this evening should be ashamed of themselves because he knocked it out of the park. The accomplishments that he has made for that country are phenomenal. He casual demeanor listing those, was very moving. Trump was masterful and relaxed giving this speech and that will go far for him in 2020.

          One of the highlights was when Trump said that America will never become a Socialist country! I could not believe my eyes when Pelosi, Schumer and other Democrats stood up to applaud this comment. Miss Occasional-Kortex did not. The stone faces were priceless. Ha…and Bernie Saunders looked defeated and slumped in his seat! Miserable old galoot!

    Apparently the world needs more from Canada. Things to ponder…….

    Here is a short list to remind Canada why we should have never elected a cute rich kid who has never really worked in his life:
    At the G7 he pledged $400 Million to Education around the world along with another $180 Million to the Global Partnership for Education in Europe. None of it is going to fix our messed up school systems here at home. Meanwhile education costs are skyrocketing for our youth, making university a mountain too high for many to climb.
    He pledged $241 Million to Family Planning around the world including a $20 Million donation to the Bill and Hillary Clinton Foundation (cause they have integrity!). This all happened while he told vets that they were asking for too much.
    He pledged $2.65 Billion to climate change at the Commonwealth Leaders Summit and now he is trying to bully the provinces into new taxes to pay for this pledge.
    He pledged $300 Million to the Rohingya Refugee crisis while we have a refugee crisis of our own flooding into the provinces that he won’t address.
    He pledged $125 Million to Caribbean Reconstruction while our own infrastructure in cities is falling apart.
    He pledged $650 million to Sexual and Reproductive health in Haiti and around the globe wanting safer abortions for women, while many women in our own country are left without a family doctor.
    He has pledged $50 million to Palestine for flood relief when NB had some of the worst flooding in decades this past spring.
    He pledged $840 million to Syria for Humanitarian Assistance when half the native reserves in our country don’t have clean drinking water.
    He gave $10.5 Million to a convicted… CONVICTED terrorist in a backroom deal that has led to another $30.8 Million paid out for three other terrorists who say they were wrongfully detained.
    And just recently he spent $4.5 Billion on a pipeline. And now the courts have ruled it shut down. Good investment for Canada he said.
    THAT IS OVER $10 BILLION DOLLARS… and none of it stays in our country… None!!!
    Excuse me… except the 4.5 Billion dollar pipeline that cannot be built.

    REMEMBER THIS WHEN VOTING DAY COMES AROUND.

The National Post reports that Great Leader Groper spent 12 million dollars on car rentals for the G7 meeting. This is in addition to the 23 million dollars the RCMP spent on new cars for the meeting. Cars which they then sold at auction a month later.

    1. It seems that whenever the Alberta provincial government gets involved with business, it doesn’t end good. This goes even as far back as when Getty decided to diversify the economy by supporting all sorts of companies, many of which were mired in controversy and were close to going belly up. Does the name NovAtel ring a bell? How about that magnesium plant in–where was it–High River.

      This venture by Red Rachel is a stinker and the citizens will be paying through the nose for it.

    And Canada has gone out of its way to advise the USA that we are not allied with their goals.

    Even an emotional retard should understand that dissing a man and then demanding he respect you, might not work out as you plan..
