  1. Yep – funny thing, that… But that’s okay – we’ll JUST BORROW MORE to make-up the shortfalls! What could possibly go wrong?

“NEWS FLASH – while tabling Canada’s new “Guaranteed Annual Income” Bill, Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Shiny Potato, acting on advice from the Auditor General, has introduced a new Bill outlawing unforeseeable adverse consequences resulting from government actions taken to buy votes in the upcoming 2019 general election.”

  2. Yes, it will. The plan is to ensure that it stops on Trump’s watch, so Trump can be blamed.

All that really needs to be done to set this right is to restore the right to issue money and regulate its value to Congress. A sovereign nation worthy of the name has no need to be indebted to banks.

  3. You mean like Zimbabwe and Venezuela did? Or Weimar Germany? Sorry, garbage idea, never, ever works. Try to imagine something like the Department of Motor Vehicles, or a Democratic Socialist Congress in control of the money supply …

We need a couple of advanced Western countries to default on their debts, to smarten these idiots up who keep lending socialists money.

  4. All welfare states are bankrupt. The US is just the biggest welfare state. Trump promised to eliminate the deficit but has only managed to grow it. Democratic socialism (modern politics) will not allow the debt to be reduced through the required levels of taxation and the debt overhang will retard real growth so it will likely have to be accomplished covertly through a future major inflation.

Trump should bring the troops home from Afghanistan and put them where the wall was to be built. It would save money and would more safely accomplish something.

  5. Who cares about the “imaginary” National Debt? It will all be moot, if we fail to accelerate our spending to defeat climate change by at least another $1T … because we’ll all be dead anyway. The “imaginary” National Debt can be completely erased by raising taxes on ALL carbon fuels, automobiles, lawnmowers, bbq’s, chainsaws, farm equipment … everything still operated by “fossil” fuels.

  6. I have been yelling out Stein’s law for years when it comes to Canada’s debt. This is a law that is trite at first glance until you think about it. As simple a reason for not going into endless debt as you will find.
