    BTW, I have a solution to the pipeline conundrum. We all know there is a huge scarcity of “legal” pot in Ontario. We also know that there are hundreds of startup grow ops planned for Alberta, right? So what we do is build a 36″ marijuana pipeline from Hardisty, AB, to Ottawa. None of the usual suspects would object to a pipeline for the wonderful herb, would they?

    So we build the pipeline, and pack tons of wacky weed into our end of it, and then get Juthtin to put a lip lock on the Ottawa end and suck for all he’s worth. Puzzlement ensues. The MJ fails to move. Ontario weed consumers are getting antsy. Have no fear, there is a solution! We will transport the pot in capsules, using a a carrier fluid. And here in Alberta, we just happen to have a surplus of ethically produced, natural source, organic carrier fluid – crude oil. So we put the pot in pipeline pigs, and shoot them down the line with a flow of crude oil. And when the crude oil gets to Ottawa, we can dispose of it by selling it to refineries, or putting it on tankers, and shipping it overseas.

    All I want out of the deal is a 0.25% royalty.

  9. Rumour has it that P.M. Justin Trudeau ordered the RCAF (F-18s) to shoot down Santa Claus’s sleigh, after he heard Santa was distributing coal.

    Fortunately, Pres. Trump and General Mattis anticipated this and ordered an escort of F-35s to keep Santa safe.

    Interviewed in flight, Santa quipped, after checking his list twice for who has been naughty or nice. “Dropping off coal to the deserving Liberal caucus required a B-train back-up sleigh. “

    2. Actually found, at the local Co-op, “coal” for sale. As far as I could figure it, was a black plastic chunk with cool treats inside. So the male grandbrats got that in their stockings this year.

      Back in the day, there was a nice orange liquor in a mandarin orange shaped bottle. Then one year, mini mandarins appeared with the same liquor. Was shopping with Mum and mentioned them, so she promptly snapped up enough minis to replace the regular oranges in the stocking toes of the adults. This went on for several years. Gradually, as her grands got older, the regular orange in that grand’s stocking would be replaced by the “adult” one.

    His name was Isaac Newton, the greatest scientist who ever lived.

    If I remember correctly, the crew even paid homage to Sir Isaac, giving him credit for making the mission possible through his laws of motion and gravitation.

            Newton’s words have ‘gravitas’ and his contributions to society, specifically the scientific world were numerous. He had a long and interesting life, in which to figure things out. He must have been in deep thought at all times, for he was never married.

            Who knew that he was Master of the Mint for the last thirty years of his life and that he caught counterfeiters? Or that his famous expression was “hypothesis non-fingo” i.e. ‘not a pretend idea’. He was ahead of his time! Today the term would be something like “not a lie” or “not fake news” or theory, in his case.

            The beveled mirror in my space when i was a child provided ‘rainbows’ in the bedroom at a certain time of day,…it was magical! I had no idea about the thoughts on natural light and that they were published several centuries ago. God said: ” Let Newton be, and all was light.”

            His Laws of Gravitation and his contribution to Mathematics were amazing for the times. Newton would be astonished at ouŕ modern lives and use of computers today.

They are needed. They will save you from eating the wrong food or smoking the wrong plants (tobacco bad, marijuana good, or vice versa), or having the wrong attitudes toward people of different colors or habits from yourself. Just as society must become ever more regulated at home – if not always regulated by government, then regulated by enlightened authority in the private sphere, even the enlightened Twitter mob – so the world must benefit from our enlightened regulation as well. Within a nation, civil society and government can act with a minimum of violence to secure compliance, because most compliance is based on habit and the desire for social acceptance (or the fear of ostracism, at any rate).”

    But outside of a nation, legal and cultural controls fail, which leaves only the control that can be established by force. And the work is never-ending – just as the administrative state and social conscience must be present everywhere and always wakeful, in foreign lands it is military force that must always be at hand and whenever possible expand. There is a profound truth in the recollection that the Vietnam War was the Great Society pursued in the paddies of Vietnam. Each of the post-Cold War presidents before Trump has likewise had a domestic vision of benevolent technocracy that runs parallel with an interventionist foreign policy. Not coincidentally, Trump is a peace president just as he is a disruptor and contemner of bureaucratic rationality and rules – as well as of the ‘norms’ of polite and politically correct society. As far as the elite is concerned, Trump is pure irrationality, and that is bane to a class that exists for the very purpose of making life rational (as the best credentialed authorities define rationality).”

  45. The United Church Observer celebrates Christmas with two heart warming stories. One by Michael Coren as he rants against conservative Bible believing Christians for their stance on abortion, homosexuality, etc. And another story on how the United Church in Elmira Ont. had two Marys in their Christmas pageant to celebrate lesbians in the church. Merry Christmas from the church that has atheist ministers.

  47. From Vancouver Island I wish blessings, health, happiness and prosperity (though the latter is becoming increasingly difficult in Canada) to all of my SDA friends.

    As most will know, VI is located geographically, socially and politically to the left of the ROC and for a conservative, it can get mighty lonely here. Nonetheless, we’ll continue the good fight, working to have our friends be more inquiring and sceptical towards the deluge of propaganda in which we are immersed.

    Case in point: The social worker/lesbian (not that there’s anything wrong with that) mayor of Victoria has announced that every city flower bed will be torn out and replaced with ‘indigenous plants’ – salal, Oregon grape and sword ferns – exactly what we see everywhere outside the city. Never mind that Victoria has built it’s tourism reputation as the city of flowers, Gaia demands ‘natural’. Let’s see how that affects their multi-million visitor cruise ship industry in the years ahead!

    If you disagree, you’re a denier and earth-hater of course. Progressives = emotion while conservatives demand evidence.
