Am I kidding? Yes, and no. The Supreme Court precedent here doesn’t involve illegal immigrants and you can make a good argument that in adopting this rule the President is acting in a foreign affairs capaicty — since he’s trying to discourage people abroad from coming here — and that gets a lot of judicial deference. Here’s some quick discussion of the law. I can certainly imagine a Supreme Court opinion holding that the core purpose of the birthright citizenry provision was to guarantee the citizenship of freed slaves, something not applicable here, and that the destabilizing effect of mass migration (see Europe), along with the foreign affairs component, demonstrates that the issue is best dealt with by the political branches.
I think the end game is to destroy the left through outrage exhaustion.

This will be fun. Only two countries with advanced economies even apply this concept (US and Canada). The entire EU does not allow automatic citizenship attached to birth. Latitude is correct….the 14th Amendment was instilled back in 1868 as part of reconstruction.

I actually don’t have a problem with the elimination of the loophole that ‘anchor’ babies provide.

I don’t believe The US Constitution was written to be a DEATH pact. And a foreign invasion of anchor babies followed by full extended family citizenship will surely KILL America as a sovereign country. Sneak into America (easy as peasy) in your 9th month of pregnancy, give birth in a state of the art birthing center at your local hospital … for FREE! And voila! You are on your way to “naturalizing” yourself and 25 members of your extended family.
Here’s another idea … STOP all LEGAL immigration. Trim the number of 1-million+ LEGAL immigrants admitted per year to America to ZERO. How’s THAT for “comprehensive immigration reform” (the most insincere statement in the history of American politics). None. Zip, Nada! On the basis that ILLEGAL border crossings, and anchor babies have utterly destroyed any semblance of an organized, tactical, intelligent immigration policy. That the INABILITY of America to CONTROL illegal immigration has overwhelmed the system … and provides ALL the immigration necessary and reasonable for America to absorb.
How’s THAT? If the Republicans maintain control of the House and Senate … the Congress should make that move … as a temporary MORATORIUM … until The SCOTUS authorizes the POTUS to change birthright citizenship by EMERGENCY Executive Order.
And, no … I am not kidding.
This is badly, badly needed. Birthright citizenship along with it’s inevitable follower, chain migration, is a boat anchor to this country’s finances.

The thought process of the Left on this is going to be nothing short of amusing. I guarantee the David Hogg’s of the Left are now thinking that a President can automatically use and Executive Order to rip amendments from the Constitution. So, they think this can be just as easily done with the 2nd Amendment. They don’t understand the concept of intent of the founders…or intent of the author (relative to the 14th amendment).
So, right now, there is massive euphoria, confusion and bat shit craziness engulfing the Left. The fight against pulling the 14th will be half-assed. And, the necessity to secure a Liberal Supreme Court is now imperative….but wait. That RBG Justice is getting long in the tooth. Ahhhhhh…. the Karma.

Since the media has failed so miserably at reporting the truth about Trump, I decided to put together some of the acts of kindness he’s committed over three decades which has gone virtually unnoticed or fallen on deaf ears.
In 1986, Trump prevented the foreclosure of Annabell Hill’s family farm after her husband committed suicide. Trump personally phoned down to the auction to stop the sale of her home and offered the widow money. Trump decided to take action after he saw Hill’s pleas for help in news reports.
In 1988, a commercial airline refused to fly Andrew Ten, a sick Orthodox Jewish child with a rare illness, across the country to get medical care because he had to travel with an elaborate life-support system. His grief stricken parents contacted Trump for help and he didn’t hesitate to send his own plane to take the child from Los Angeles to New York so he could get his treatment.
In 1991, 200 Marines who served in Operation Desert Storm spent time at Camp Lejune in North Carolina before they were scheduled to return home to their families. However, the Marines were told that a mistake had been made and an aircraft would not be able to take them home on their scheduled departure date. When Trump got wind of this, he sent his plane to make two trips from North Carolina to Miami to safely return the Gulf War Marines to their loved ones.
In 1995, a motorist stopped to help Trump after the limo he was traveling in got a flat tire. Trump asked the Good Samaritan how he could repay him for his help. All the man asked for was a bouquet of flowers for his wife. A few weeks later Trump sent the flowers with a note that read: We’ve paid off your mortgage.
In 1996, Trump filed a lawsuit against the city of Palm Beach, Florida, accusing the town of discriminating against his Mar-a-Lago resort club because it allowed Jews and blacks. Abraham Foxman, who was the Anti-Defamation League Director at the time, said Trump put the light on Palm Beach not on the beauty and the glitter, but on its seamier side of discrimination. Foxman also noted that Trump’s charge had a trickle-down effect because other clubs followed his lead and began admitting Jews and blacks.
In 2000, Maury Povich featured a little girl named Megan who struggled with Brittle Bone Disease on his show and Trump happened to be watching. Trump said the little girl’s story and positive attitude touched his heart. So he contacted Maury and gifted the little girl and her family with a very generous check.
In 2008, after Jennifer Hudson’s family members were tragically murdered in Chicago, Trump put the Oscar-winning actress and her family up at his Windy City hotel for free. In addition to that, Trump’s security took extra measures to ensure Hudson and her family members were safe during such a difficult time.
In 2013, New York bus driver Darnell Barton spotted a woman close to the edge of a bridge staring at traffic below as he drove by. He stopped the bus, got out and put his arm around the woman and saved her life by convincing her to not jump. When Trump heard about this story, he sent the hero bus driver a check simply because he believed his good deed deserved to be rewarded.
In 2014, Trump gave $25,000 to Sgt. Andrew Tamoressi after he spent seven months in a Mexican jail for accidentally crossing the US-Mexico border. President Barack Obama couldn’t even be bothered to make one phone call to assist with the United States Marine’s release; however, Trump opened his pocketbook to help this serviceman get back on his feet.
In 2016, Melissa Consin Young attended a Trump rally and tearfully thanked Trump for changing her life. She said she proudly stood on stage with Trump as Miss Wisconsin USA in 2005. However, years later she found herself struggling with an incurable illness and during her darkest days she explained that she received a handwritten letter from Trump telling her she’s the bravest woman, I know She said the opportunities that she got from Trump and his organizations ultimately provided her Mexican-American son with a full-ride to college.
Lynne Patton, a black female executive for the Trump Organization, released a statement in 2016 defending her boss against accusations that he’s a racist and a bigot. She tearfully revealed how she’s struggled with substance abuse and addiction for years. Instead of kicking her to the curb, she said the Trump Organization and his entire family loyally stood by her through immensely difficult times.
Donald Trump’s kindness knows no bounds and his generosity has and continues to touch the lives of people from every sex, race and religion. When Trump sees someone in need, he wants to help.
Two decades ago, Oprah asked Trump in a TV interview if he’d ever run for president. He said: “If it got so bad, I would never want to rule it out totally because I really am tired of seeing what’s happening with this country.'”
That day has come. Trump sees that America is in need and he wants to help. How unthinkable! On the other hand. have you ever heard of Hillary or Obama ever doing such things with their own resources?

Dirt is not magic, but maybe it is, kind of.
Where you are born does not instantly make you a citizen of that dirt and it’s borders and culture.
Culture is taught by the people who live on the dirt, who share their food, water and lives with each other and those whom they come into contact with. Their values and customs and laws are taught and grasped and lived out daily.
But dirt has a very important part of the lives of the individual. We are formed by the clay of the earth, we are a mixture of the water, minerals and dare I say the spiritual DNA of the land. It shapes us and makes us who we are.
It is a mystery how it completely works, fascinating and thrilling to think about and learn about.
A Mexican, giving birth on American soil does not make that child an American. Nor any other national being born on another nations soil making them that nations citizen. But a person can become a national, if they leave their culture and heritage and customs and fully embrace and live within all that their new nation offers and is.
I believe this is what is known as integration. Easily said, much harder to do.
May I suggest that even giving citizenship to the blacks was a catastrophic blunder.
It was only done to help prop up Reconstruction-era southern governments (controlled by Radical Republicans) who depended on black votes to stay in power (tempting them with promises of land confiscated from whites, and turning a blind eye to acts of black terror) and to make deportation of the blacks to Liberia a legal impossibility.
Citizenship is a privilege, not a right. Not everybody is worthy of that privilege, frankly, and on the contrary, it should be revocable at any time. Determining grounds for stripping a good-for-nothing of citizenship should be the privilege of the sovereign.
Asking Cuba and Venezuela to name their price to take our leftists after they’ve served their time in Canadian prisons should be routine.
You can suggest it, but you’d be wrong.
The freed slaves were stateless without citizenship. They were generations within the US. Having a stateless people like that would not lead to any positive outcome. If you want them to have a vested interest in the country, they need to benefit from it. Citizenship is a necessary part of that.

It wasn’t citizenship that caused the upheavals in the immediate post civil war. No, it was voting rights.
There were several schools of thought about how to proceed with the black population after the war. Citizenship wasn’t particularly a sticking point although there were proposals to (1) re-establish them in Africa (Liberia), (2) Buy the land which is now the Dominican Republic, make it a state, relocate the blacks there (yes, at the time it was actually a viable proposition).
But about the voting…. and keep in mind that in the south I believe the blacks averaged 40% of the total population (55% and 57% in Mississippi & S. Carolina). Clearly, a black voting population would result in many blacks in Government positions of power.
One proposal was to first educate the black population before allowing them to vote, believing that having been kept largely ignorant they needed time to get up to speed before they could make good voting decisions.
Please forgive me for this crap ….. I’ve said before that the civil war was one of my interests. I get carried away.

You can suggest it but you’d be quite an ass if you believe it. Would you also “suggest” they should have been chained up in the holds of cargo ships if they didn’t want to go? The symmetry would have been on point, sure, but at the price of compounding the evil of slavery. Slaves earned their citizenship with the literal skin off their backs and your “suggestion” is vile.

the real blunder was the speed and extent at which the suthun states adopted slavery. EVERYTHING regarding race relations after and into the future comes from THAT ‘follow the money’ decision.
I doubt this would survive a challenge via the 14th. It describes rights given to persons not citizens. This is why illegal immigrants get state benefits such as public schooling. Birthright citizenship to refugees and asylum seekers (regardless of method of crossing) would likely not be affected by this executive order. The children of illegal immigrants would likely be solely targeted by this EO. Using judicial precedent, the EO likely wouldn’t survive a 14th amendment challenge.
But what do I know? I only perfectly called the previous EOs being turned over and not appealed even though President Obesity said he would.
