No NAFTA? 75% of Canadian exports go to America.
The word games politicians play!
Has Turdeau, Butt’s sockpuppet, decided that he can’t beat Scheer so he’ll run against Trump?
Scheer is proving to be the perfect opponent for Justin, silent and hiding in a corner.
LOL
That may well be the only way PM Castreau can be re-elected. All Scheer has to do is come out and refrain from strangling kittens on live TV.
Canadians are probably going to have to wait till both Trudeau and Trump are out of office for Canada-US trade to get back on track. In the mean time, it could get ugly.
Sorry, the problem lies with Trudles, alone. He has decided to squander the interests of every day Canadians to maintain the privileges of giant corporations in Canadian banking, media, and dairy processing. He is protecting the powerful elites at the expense of the little guy. Liberal Party values at work!
The re-negotiation of NAFTA with Mexico, and the progress made with the Europeans on auto tariffs were both accomplished by President Trump. Apparently they found a way to come to an agreement with the US, but Trudles refuses.
Sorry, the problem lies with both of them.
I know this site is very pro-Trump. I’m not so impressed.
This site isn’t half so much pro-Trump as it is pro accepting reality is the foundation of dealing with it successfully. The Americans are way ahead of us on being too sick of their government of self-appointed “elites” screwing them to put up with it. That’s why they hired President Trump to shake things up. In the long run, he’ll have been good for Canada because PM Castreau can’t keep reality at bay forever.
The fate of NAFTA was decided when the sockboy met John Kerry on Aga Khan Island and Rahm Emanuel in Chicago.
Don’t forget Liberal interests in China, all those trips by Le p’ti’ gar de Shawinigan.
Trudeau is the fool who must go .. trump I just fine. Our economy depends on the American economy.. and our idiot doesn’t understand that. We are screwed.
With nobody to oppose him, Trump will be POTUS until January 2025. We’re supposed to wait that long?
By then (including another term of the cabin boy), there won’t be a country left, let alone an auto industry.
BTW, the Republic of British Columbia will not be paying equalization, taxes or MP pensions to anyone outside of BC.

It’s pretty obvious Butts is setting Trudeau up to be the Great Canadian Hero against THAT AWFUL TRUMP, snap election here we come. The virtue signalling will have all progressive females and feminists orgasming this AM over their boy wonder!
LPC 200 CPC 85
I wonder if they’ll do the handgun ban before they win the election,or after.
It occurs to me that the LPC vehemently opposed the FTA back in the day – lost an election over it. For progressives no NAFTA opens up opportunities to erect trade barriers to protect their vested interests- subsidies and grant to the sectors they favour, virtue signalling labour laws on how imports are made etc.
That it would devastate an already vulnerable economy (Greek-style provincial debt) is something these clowns don’t understand- just as they didn’t understand that there recent demands would get them laughed out of negotiations.
I think Canadians will punish them with a defeat if they don’t get a deal. Running a “we blame trump” campaign just won’t cut it.
You underestimate the power of our media to whitewash everything their idol Trudeau messes up.
I think it’s more the fact that there is no opposition to Trudles among the conservatives that makes his re-election the surest of sure things.
Let’s just hope that Sche(m)er loses his job when that happens.
I live in New Brunswick, where there is a provincial election underway. The Liberal Premier, Brian Gallant, is a clone, and close friend, to Justin Trudeau — all pretty face with virtually no competence to assist the flagging economy here. Anyways the pc opposition is off to a bad start, with very little organizing on the ground. The media, remarkably, are fairly balanced and objective — and even with this Gallant and his Liberals will win in a walk. The same could happen in the national election writ large.
No, you’re wrong. Completely wrong. It’s exactly as Ken says, the media whitewashes everything Trudeau does wrong, and tries to tarnish anything his opponents do or say. The Conservative party had a leadership battle. Scheer won. If you want Trudeau out, start SUPPORTING Scheer instead of CRITICIZING and UNDERMINING him.
Scheer has undermined himself by trying to be Trudeau-lite. With Maxime gone and the conservatives unhappy, he doesn’t stand a chance.
“start SUPPORTING Scheer instead of CRITICIZING and UNDERMINING him.”
You’re advocating that we support a neutered, stingless, jellyfish?
Seriously?
Support him doing what, precisely? He doesn’t have any positions on anything, except prone, perhaps.
I await the barn storming, oil drilling, resource exploiting campaign against Trudeau and his environmental allies; no need to wait for the election, he can start now. Jobs! Economy! Pipelines! Energy strength! The script is already written.
Waiting … waiting … any minute now …
Wait … is that a Mad Max I hear moving through the undergrowth?
As I recall, the 1993 Fed election was a referendum on NAFTA. Chretien promised to revoke NAFTA. Libs won a big majority and Chretien did some minor tweaking on NAFTA-and we got NAFTA. The agenda is set by the globalists owners of the plantation & of the UniParty..
It is a shame that Tim Hortons, the south of the border variety, is not covered by NAFTA.
Oddly enough, when I go to a Tim’s south of the border, there’s no lineup.
yup Kate, Canadian Timm’s workers are a bludy joke
“Canadian Timm’s workers are a bludy joke”
Learn speak Tagalog. You’ll get along fine.
scar…you were trying to make a point. Tagalog = pig Spanish. My x bus. partner spoke it well, as it was his language at birth!!
Do they serve Lumpia at Tim Hortons?
Tim’s is an unremarkable restaurant selling unremarkable fare. That only becomes more obvious south of the border where there is 10x the choice.
The Mexicans were able to negotiate a deal without their markets falling apart, or giving away “their culture”. What’s wrong with Trudeau?. We can all see that it’s him that can’t negotiate, or that harridan Freeland. No experience at anything, but she did write a book.
No deal is the worst deal, it allows the worst that can happen. Surprised that Morneau’s Bay Street buddies aren’t burning up the phone lines telling the Finance Minister how the real world works. Or are the SJW Libs that far removed from reality?
It’s about politics, not economics. Trudeau believes the Liberals will maintain power if he is anti-Trump. Economy be damned. Trudeau will not compromise on anything.
Tump’s reelection depends on winning Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Terminating NAFTA and imposing tariffs on Canadian autos promises lots of good jobs in the Midwest.
Thus both Trudeau and Trump need the negotiations to fail, and the Canadian economy to crash, in order to maintain power.
If the Liberals were serious about making a deal Trudeau would have replaced Freeland in the last cabinet shuffle.
The simple truth.
If the Liberals were serious about anything (especially the idea that women can be effective in government) Freeland wouldn’t have been in the cabinet to start with.
Didn’t anyone tell the Sockmonkey that you never telegraph your punches?
He just telegraphed to the US that unless he gets a deal without having to make any concessions Canada will not join the new deal.
Now I can’t say if the Sockmonkey intends to violate our current election law by calling an early election, or if the liberals intend to campaign as “standing up against Trump”, but as far as NAFTA goes, once we are out, we are on the outside looking in. All the things we take for granted due to geography are gone.
Maintaining a state of suspended disbelief of “but we’re the nicest people on earth” won’t stop it from happening.
Its not whether you can get a better deal or not, its whether you want a trade deal or not.
Canada, closed to business since 2015.
You mean Sockpuppet.
Socialist puppet?
https://www.cbc.ca/news/opinion/trump-nafta-negotiations-1.4810059
Neil MacDonald vies for Butts job in the most pro-Trudeau,anti-Trump “opinion column” seen since the 2015 election.
At National Newswatch, every article is about Our Justin trying to make a deal with the insane egotist,Trump. The election campaign has already begun, the LPC’s backers are in full campaign mode. There is even one article showing Freeland in a too tight white dress looking determined, chest out, chin out, ostensibly on her way to show them Yankee bastards what dealing with tough Canadians is all about!
Go get ’em Chrystia, you show that Lighthizer what a tough little negotiator you really are when you aren’t bursting into tears!
I was cheered when National Newswatch started but don’t visit it’s Liberal Land anymore. I may as well watch the CBC.
Exactly. Give Don Morris a hand for being able to stomach that site.
NN is a Liberal version of Rabble.
I read the article, precisely the wrong advice. Why is the CBC and Torstar gaming the demise of negotiations?
It was a pretty sweet deal, selling stuff made of cheap Chinese steel into the US market. I don’t blame Trudeau for being upset about losing it. My question is how the Democrats are going to go back to such a lousy deal for US steelworkers after Trump to get things “back to normal.”
This suggests that TruDOPE and his Lib cronies are just puppets to their Chinese masters.
No wonder he is acting like an idiot, Mo Strong’s influence continues to this day. Is this what Soy Boy meant by a post national state? That we are just a Chinese province?
This wasn’t Trudeau’s idea. He doesn’t know the difference between steal and iron ore.
Trudeau threw a lot of indirect shade at Trump. I think Trump felt it and is replying in kind.
Steak has iron in it. Plus Justin checked with Uncle Jean and he assures him you can put pepper on it.
With a NAFTA deal and 75% North American content the auto industry with ties to China (steel and parts) are in trouble. Ditto with no deal and 25% tariff. Looking at it from the Liberals perspective a deal has more negatives than positives .
With a deal … US banks and telecomms enter Canada. Chinese steel and auto parts dry up. QC loses the dairy management.
Without a deal .. 25% tariff , but Trudeau keeps the Chinese happy importing auto parts. US car makers flee to the US but Junior doesn’t care. He keeps the elites happy.
Speaking of Freeland. Here is one of her shining accomplishments
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/matthewzeitlin/how-chrystia-freeland-hastened-reuters-nexts-demise
Brian
Who has said that the auto tariff is the limit? Or that 25% is a limit? Soy Boy is playing with fire, no deal means any and all industries are subjected to tariffs and higher rates.
Wouldn’t it be nice to act as cavalierly as Soy Boy, having a multi-million dollar trust fund to fall back on, no matter how much damage he causes?
Interesting article on Our Chrystia, this line stood out for me:” I don’t understand what they were thinking, ‘Let’s not run any ads, let’s spend millions and see what happens.’ The idea that it had to be monetized caught them by surprise,” the Reuters employee said. ”
Freeland was organizing a new online service for Reuters, with no plan as to how to PAY for it! No ads!
this failing ‘trade” deal is all about Juthtin Butts trying to get more control over thee electorate. A bad economy makes people easier to manipulate.
Bord Tulk, are you really that clueless?????
TCTH
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/09/05/justin-trudeau-no-trade-deal-with-u-s-that-doesnt-continue-exemptions-for-canadas-cultural-industries/
Pierre Trudeau started the destruction of Canada and now his stepson is going to complete the process. Unfortunately the drama queen will get re-elected as the civil servants and teachers fully support him. I never thought I would see the day when the teaching profession is now akin to the world’s oldest profession. The fact that the teachers are following this thug Hammond pretty well sums up what kids are learning in school
To be honest, I don’t really care if Canada keeps out US cheese. The dairy industry in the US is also highly coddled. It’s the sidestepping of tariffs on dumped Chinese steel because the non market driven decision makers their decided to overbuild capacity that sticks in my craw.
But maybe Castro’s son is just playing “Art of the Deal” and using Trump’s own book. Never buy a car before walking out of the dealership at least once. Let them call you with a better deal.
That only works if your part of the deal is something the other part really wants. Canada’s only charm as far as America is concerned right now is its lumber industry and its geographic location (and both of those are not altogether charming so much as they are potential liabilities for us).
America gains much by telling Canada to get stuffed in the short term, and possibly in the long term — as a teats up, decimated Canada is indeed more easily swayed to reason…like getting rid of Prince Twinkles and his fellow travelers (including his loyal court jester of opposition, Scheer) — once and for all.
We coddle our farmers until our situation is such that they can stand on their own.
We dont keep American dairy out. They have a 600 million quota before the tariff kicks in.
I think that the US overproduces dairy the same way that China overproduces steel.
Good article Brian.
Freeland seems to have a special talent to aggravate. Apparently the US trade rep Robert Lighthizer can’t stand her. Bet there are a few in her department that would like to sink her ship.
It’s not helpful to have to the process poisoned by personalities. Nobody is inclined to offer favour to those you despise.
For the good of the country she needs to be removed from this file
Trudeau finally reveals what is important to him. Canadian jobs? The Auto sector?
Nope.
Controlling the media message and keeping Canada Liberal.
This bunch is unreal. It’s 2018, not 1968. Elites, though they still try mightily, cannot control information any more.
Now this the Americans will buy up Canada nonsense? That old saw? Do they mean the CBC.
Mr. Scheer, tear down that broadcaster. Or at least privatize it. They are the dairy farmers of the media industry, demanding their monopolies. Who would buy them? Anyway, take away their subsidy. Advertising revenues matter because that means people are watching your programming. Turn CBC into a pay per view. Trudeau and his minions can never stop this inevitability.
But then again, they are good at something after all.
We in the military all remember being told if we fail to plan, then we should plan to fail.
This bunch doesn’t so much fail to plan, but takes it a step further and actually plans to fail.
They probably have strategy sessions on how they’re going to fail.
They’re all set up for the excuse tour, aka snap late fall election campaign (speculation warning).
I say, bring it on. Who cares if Nanos has them in majority territory. Let’s find out right now if we’re going to make it as a nation or not. I think it’s that serious. If we continue to determine energy policy by the whims of a few corrupt Native chiefs, watermelons like Elizabeth May, or blocking of pipelines by Quebec, we’ll all be on “equalization.”
IOW, Marxist mission accomplished. Can we please understand now progressives are Marxists who must control us not liberals?
It may not be the summer of 69’ anymore … but Canada is still clinging to its cultural virginity. Retreating to the safe space of their echo chamber.
Scheer will absolutely NOT touch CBC! harper didn’t because in his opinion, the CBC was almost sacred in Eastern Canada, Scheer will do no different.
Scheer is no revolutionary, about the only difference is Scheer isn’t anti-pipeline, on the rest, not much different than Trudeau, especially on the dairy cartel to whom he owes his current job. I don’t know where Scheer stands on firearms in general or the handgun ban in particular,he probably doesn’t know either.
“I say, bring it on. Who cares if Nanos has them in majority territory.”
That is exactly what I expect they will do,and if so, we’ll find out that Nanos was very accurate. Trudeau is standing up for Canada against the world’s worst Leader since Hitler, ( according to all the msm) he legalized marijuana and has marched in every gay pride parade in Canada.
Allah almighty , we’ll be lucky if he doesn’t win ALL the seats!
“I say, bring it on.
I agree. Give them another four years. The sooner the place burns down the better. That might wake the people up and if they don’t it doesn’t much matter, other than the pain our loved ones will suffer. Venezuelans voted for the pain they are suffering.
“They’re all set up for the excuse tour, aka snap late fall election campaign ”
If they do it won’t happen before Oct 17
Then again the only change then is that you won’t get a criminal record as long as you don’t get caught with the unsanctioned government supplied pot.
Not just pot legalization but also upcoming provincial elections in Quebec and New Brunswick are upcoming.
Plus PM Turtles may want to get ahead of the 2019 Alberta election.
Is milk a “cultural industry”?
Is the Winnipeg Folk Festival under attack?
wtf.
Huh? I thought the Quebec City Ramadan Festival … was more along the lines of Canada’s … cultural heritage
Trudy has already thrown the prairie oil industry under the bus.
Ontario has turned against the Liberals.
Only PMSocks and team are dreaming of unicorns. Propped up by the MSM.
The contradictions of policy from the Libs should be enough for any thinking voter.
Warmer climate? Yes please
Carbon taxes? Uh, no thanks
Hand gun ban? Not for $2B
Tanker ban? No
Buy a pipeline? D’oh $4.5B wasted
Protect culture? Thought we diversified, into post national state…
Blame Trump
Blame Harper
Its only out of convenience for Turdough to wrap himself in a Canadian flag after declaring Canada is the 1st post-national state.
Everything is a PR campaign for Bongo while real Canadians will suffer.
Yes, it is rich isn’t it.
So then, PM pipsqueak longstocking is admitting Canada cannot and will not abide by FREE Trade. Canada NEEDS tariffs and protections … of its “cultural heritage”. What a load of reindeer dung. It’s protectionism, plain and simple.
We agree to a deal, even with concessions, Trump wins.
We agree to a deal, without concessions, Trump wins.
We don’t agree to a deal, NAFTA is done, Trump wins.
In which one of those scenarios is the “win-win-win” and what is the likelihood we can get there before Oct 1?
All I’ve seen from our “crack negotiating team” is that we are not going to conceed anything and want to retain the existing agreement that Trump wants revised … but “we’re working toward an agreement”.
This is not going to end well.
Needless to say, The Liberals will continue to stagger from one debacle to another all the while harming Canada and betraying it’s citizens. There is no hope for Western Canada. We are, and have forever been, a resource for Eastern Canada to exploit. The only province that ever held any status to the east is B.C. due to the days of the Manifest Destiny , the railroad and the fear of the U.S. annexing the land between Alaska and the Washington Territories.
Jean Chretien once said, Canada is neither a Monarchy or a democracy, it is a Monocracy, and the people within the Matrix, keep taking the wrong damn pill.
Well said.
Nicely put. I looked up the population of Canada and B.C. + Alberta have roughly the same number of people as Quebec.
Well, one thing is pretty clear: their dickhead is a lot smarter than our dickhead.
Bingo!
He’s setting us up for “no NAFTA”.
It’s a good cop/bad cop routine…creating an artificial ‘division’ to be solved…you’re the one being played to accept a predetermined solution. Both Trudeau and Trump do what they’re told.
“So we’ve made it very clear that defending that cultural exemption is something that is fundamental to Canadians.”
———————————-
But letting American enviro-Nazis to influence policies and attack our economic base is just fine.
Bongo was on Edmonton radio this morning.
It’s still Harper’s fault.
Speaking of Harper, he warned us about this boob, but the great Canadian temper tantrum infants didn’t listen.
Yes, it is Harper’s fault, for not getting re-elected. Now we can contemplate nice hair and our overdrafts.
Just listened to our man in Washington chrystia freeland.
“Were negotiating in good faith” she said. She’s been pointing that out ad nauseam in recent weeks. Somebody musta told her that it’s a good idea to start each sentence with it….. to remind the Americans of our virtue.
NAFTA talks have been going on now for a year. The truth is Canada has not been genuine in it’s demands. They are now forced to point out at every opportunity that they are ‘negotiating in good faith’.
Pathetic.
The Quebec provincial election is October 1 the deadline to get in on this deal is the same day.
All indications are currently that if team Sockmonkey is going to conceed on anything it will be dairy, but to do so would hand the provincial election to CAQ.
If he gives on that concession on any for that matter, he would have to do so no later than the day before the QC election day.
This makes it look like if they don’t have a deal by the last weekend in Sept its the end of NAFTA and the markets will react accordingly.
The Drama teacher keeps saying WE MUST TREAT THE INDIGINOUS PEOPLES Correctly… What he fails to say is that the Treaties have ALL been created , or modified by Social activist Courts in the last 50 years… The BC Indians never had any Treaties with the Crown… The Cree’s Original treaty defined Medial Care as Access to the First Aid Kit @ Indian Agent’s office (Doctors & Hospitals existed @ that Time).. The creeping rights were never placed before the General public and were awarded by judicial fictitious nonsense.. The Courts are Social Justice Warrior’s personified.. Female Mothers? When the UN is flushed the Indians will be correctly treated…
The BAD Example in the USA – EPA agency & Environmental group’s “collusion” in the US Ninth circuit setting ( both sides on the same side & setting a precedent)… The Canada Indian Affairs are not answerable to Public taxpayers and they have Colluded with the tribes
JMHO
I’m starting to believe that Trudeau 2.0 wants to isolate this country from the rest of the world. Screw up some trade deals, make it next to impossible to invest here, look like an idiot on the world stage…
The dipshit doesn’t realize that at this point we won’t have the current NAFTA the minute the new deal is signed by Congress and Mexico.
Good luck getting any concessions on the outside.
So yes, its entirely plausible that Sockmonkey is trying to make Canada into an insular, isolated country, like North Korea.
As for the “look like an idiot on the world stage”
That train left in 2015.
The Libs are assuming a blue wave in November, they are delaying for the mid-terms. I suspect there is no plan B except surrender and blame it on Trump. I foresee an embarassed alphabet media in a couple of weeks and blue wave gone. It never was a good strategy to ridicule an obviously powerful man.
He wans to emulate Sweden.
Decloaked lady lurker here. What I believe needs to be taken into account are patterns of behavior among leaders. Trudes is comparable to Obama in some respects. When Obama was flown down to the oil spill in the Gulf off Florida, he spoke about the beaches in Hawaii growing up. Utterly self referential. When Trudes had himself jetted over to the Jihad on the Danforth Memorial for the 2 murdered girls, the first thing he referred to was the loss of his brother. Narcissism. Both had and have delusions of grandeur unrelated to personal achievement. This is a psychological syndrome. There is a need for constant adulation. Any opposition will cause demeaning of the threat. (like the old lady in rural Quebec who was an intolerant peasant /s) For Trudes the world is graded on how good he feels about himself. More or less normal people have difficulty comprehending his motivations. It’s a false identity at the core. A puff of weed.
There is no therapy or medication that can fix this. Hollywood’s leftist machine is rampant with divas. Intelligence is not really a factor, but it helps to be charming and pretty. No matter how useless Andrew Scheer may be, he is the ONLY choice that won’t split the vote unless something changes drastically. His MAIN qualification is basic sanity. It is dangerous to be governed by a
narcissist. Look no further than the Muslim tyrants of the vast majority of failed Muslim States who require violence and mass control of the media to remain in power. Would you describe Erdogan as stable? And no, I’m not saying Trudes is like Erdogan… I think.
There is big trouble ahead due to global debt. Emerging market currencies are plunging. IMO that is why the U.S. currency stays so strong. It’s just funny money like the rest. I wish I had more of it. The EU has so many cracks in the foundation that their Central Banks are shaking. Like in Game of Thrones “Winter is Coming.”
Heh, no NAFTA = Fox News Canada.
Tell the left.
