    ‘During his statement at Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing on Tuesday, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) slammed Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee for conducting “the hypocrisy hearing,” and told Democrats on the committee, “you can’t lose the election and pick judges.”

    Graham said, “The whole argument is, you can be a conservative Republican president, but you’ve got to nominate a liberal to be fair to the country. That’s absurd. Where do you think Ruth Bader Ginsburg came from? She was the General Counsel at the ACLU, wonderful person. What groups do y’all use to pick from? This is shaping up to be the hypocrisy hearing, and that’s hard to do in the Senate, in today’s time, to be hypocritical.’

  15. That Chuck Schumer is a slick one. ( Is he competing with niece Amy for attention?) He planned this CIRQUE du SOLEIL so well that people like Blumenthal didn’t even have to look up to see who was interrupting the Kavanaugh proceedings. This scream festival was so awful that Judge Kavanaugh’s kids were escorted away. What noise, it was like visiting an abattoir or a horror show. It continues Wednesday.

  16. Here’s how I see it. Abortion is going to be the central issue at the hearing. It’s the hill the Democrats are going to die on and dangerous for Kavanaugh too. Note that it’s not by chance that all of the disruptors at the hearing were women.

    I am not opposed to abortion but I do NOT believe it is a right under the Constitution of the U.S. It NEVER should have been decided that it was within the power of the Federal Government to regulate abortion. The Supreme Court was WRONG in Roe vs Wade.

    The 10th Amendment to the Constitution: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States, respectively, or to the people.” In other words, either Congress passes a law (unlikely) or the battle ground moves to 50 states.

    The fear is that a strict interpretation of the Constitution will in fact toss Roe vs Wade and leave the decisions about abortion up to individual states. Some will prohibit. Kavanaugh is a constitutional conservative (Q.E.D.)

    1. I believe you are exactly right regarding Kavanaugh’s position. The abortion advocates way over their conjecture. Those who hope the USSC with Kavanaugh will forbid RvW in the whole country will be sorely disappointed.

      First of all, the USSC does not legislate, or should not, and with a conservative majority will not. Congress will have to pass a law forbidding abortion to begin with. That will be appealed all the way to the USSC, which will find the law unconstitutional.

      Individual states which have banned abortion will continue to do so. But the blue states will not. There is a great correlation between states which voted for Clinton with the most populous states. Among the 15 states with the most population, only TX and OH went decisively for Trump. FL, PA, GA, NC, MI, and AZ went for Trump with less than 4% margin. Among the states of those 15 that went for Clinton, only VA gave her less than double digit plurality, and even there she had a margin of over 5%. Perhaps TX and OH could pass an anti-abortion bill, I don’t think any of the other 15 states will. So the only states that would are relatively lightly populated flyover states, and that would hardly be a concern to the bicoastal liberals.

The role of the Senate is to Advise & Consent….That means that the Senate is assumed to be affirmative & all the Testimony & documentation MAY result in changing that assummed consent Vote to NO. The Majority of the affirmed votes determines the Amount of evidence they need before consenting (Heard enough)… The Democrats have already decided to vote NO and nothing in the hearing will change that vote, they could all go home and chill out or drug out….
