No doubt, the Liberals and their supporters, including Gang Green and the Dippers, are greatly rejoicing at that. None of them, however, care about the long-term consequences, likely writing them off as a small expense to pay in order to appease Mommy Gaia.

$75,000 a year with benefits; no college needed. Yet local employers can’t fill jobs
Miami is a city with an ever changing skyline. And those who make it happen — the plumbers, electricians, brick masons and carpenters — earn far above the local median: $55,000-75,000 a year with full benefits and a pension.
But as the economy barrels toward full employment, local contractors are struggling to find enough skilled workers to fuel the construction boom.
$75,000 in Miami is not a good wage. I am not surprised that they are having problems. They need to adjust to the current reality, or go out of business. Their choice.
One does not have to be very far outside Miami to live cheaply.
“$75,000 in Miami is not a good wage.”….of course it is…don’t be ridiculous
Miami is not all flash….the vast majority of Miami is not flash
$75,000 in real dollars equals $99,750 in Canuck Microbucks, looks pretty decent to me for a skilled tradesman.
Yea, not bad at all – near $50/hr add OT every now and then…likely ramps that up to 65/hr. About what a Senior Welding Inspctor in the patch will earn..+ LOA if he’s fortunate.
Given the political climate in this emerging Globalist shithole…? tis a option.
If the US would open their borders and welcome Canadian immigrants there are going to be a lot of blue collar trades people wanting jobs and soon . It is becoming very obvious that Trudeau with some help from Trump is going to become very sucessful at turning Canada into the 3rd world country, that is unless you work for the federal government.
Oh well. I’m sure that any day now the Trans-Canada and Yellowhead Highways at the Alberta/ BC border – as well as downtown Edmonton – will be brought to a standstill by the oil industry for as long as it takes to get things fixed.
Right?
Hey, no oil or gas and everything comes to a standstill. People will also starve.
What is Red Rachel waiting for? Her legislation is in place. Or is she waiting for the dead cold of January to hit Vancouverites, that would be a master stroke.
Red Rachel wants the pipelines stopped. Red Rachel ain’t waiting for anything.
“What is Red Rachel waiting for? ”
Heh.
Never mind Ol’ Raiche. What is everybody else waiting for? Her?
Yes, I’m being rhetorical. She was posturing, I expect. This will show if she was ever 100% serious, or just gaming, as usual. I don’t disagree, she is on the record (prior to fluking a win) to being steadfastly against pipelines.
“Hey, no oil or gas and everything comes to a standstill. People will also starve.”
Exactly.
But with a little bit of luck and common sense, things would get worked out long before that happened.
When the progressive set runs out of other people’s money or has to live by their own rules, that seems to be their conversion on the road to Damascus.
Budget time is going to be a rude awakening for team Sockmonkey.
But it will be Donald Trump’s fault. Team Sockmonkey will just be looking out for us poor, offended Canucks. Majority government.
No it won t he will just borrow us into the poor house, all part of the master plan.
If you read the comments to this article you will see that the David Suzuki is strong among the Luddites commenting.
Yes,the anti- oil commenters are certainly well versed in the propaganda, which is why I think it’s an organized effort to fill every comment section with their rhetoric. They sound like a bunch of activists who have been instructed in commenting, by lawyers.
Soros paid?
Those are scripted talking points of the US foundation funded hysteria campaigners such as Dogwood, Tides etc. Paid campaigners saturating the comments. I wouldn’t be surprised if West Coast Environmental Law types are commenting in there.
The Altering of the Deal
If only Justin had lowered corporate tax like Trump, the corps could have bought their own stock …no need for any actual production, no need for a pipeline. Just keep buying their own stock from the investors, pushing up the stock price. A great Ponzi scheme…communist economics.
Of course, such should not be a surprise. Since the recessionary lows, much of the rise in “profitability” have come from a variety of cost-cutting measures and accounting gimmicks rather than actual increases in top-line revenue. While tax cuts certainly provided the capital for a surge in buybacks, revenue growth, which is directly connected to a consumption-based economy, has remained muted. Since 2009, the reported earnings per share of corporations has increased by a total of 353%. This is the sharpest post-recession rise in reported EPS in history. However, the increase in earnings did not come from a commensurate increase in revenue which has only grown by a marginal 44% during the same period and declined from 49% in Q1.
The reality is that stock buybacks create an illusion of profitability. If a company earns $0.90 per share and has one million shares outstanding – reducing those shares to 900,000 will increase earnings per share to $1.00. No additional revenue was created, no more product was sold, it is simply accounting magic. Such activities do not spur economic growth or generate real wealth for shareholders. However, it does provide the basis for with which to keep Wall Street satisfied and stock option compensated executives happy.
Notice the stock market rose (capital appreciation only) by over 40% while reported earnings growth rose by a whopping 2% through the end of 2017. However, in the last two quarters, earnings growth has surged by over 20%, but as noted above, that surge came without a commensurate surge in revenues.
wtf would have been an awesome trading symbol.
WTF Oil & GAS Company.
Everyone always accuses oil companies of collusion; what if they actually did?
What if, every oil company on the planet, stopped the flow of refined product to any jurisdiction that had a single citizen protestor?
Mayor Coderre wants no pipeline? GIVE HIM WHAT HE WANTS. No heat, no diesel no gasoline no coal no bitumen for pavement no yoga pants no nothing to the city of Montreal. Let them read and cook by the light of virtue.
“Everyone always accuses oil companies of collusion; what if they actually did?”
Well Kevin, if you checked out the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers website over the past few years, you’d have to come to the conclusion that there was collusion….to stay silent.
Coderre got the boot, but the new person (a woman) looks like she could be worse.
Some things have become even bigger than the government. I would say starting new mega-projects is one of them. How many mega-projects have been started in Canada during the past 10 years. I’m talking $10 billion+. Other than in Alberta oil sands I can’t think of one. During the past 2-3 years a number of large international companies have left Alberta. The true cost of this catastrophe won’t be known for decades because the billions are spread out over a long period of time and the confidence to start these projects has to be high.
I’m working next to a 639 km road built in partnership by the Quebec government and a mining company. The price was under $150 million. In Ontario such a road is estimated to cost over $1 billion and hasn’t yet begun to the Ring of Fire where $50 billion worth of resources await extraction. I haven’t heard Doug Ford even mention the area.
Darlington refurbishment, $12.5 billion. Bruce Power to start in 2020, $13 billion.
Of course these were approved under the old pre-Bill C-69 CEAA.c
The stepson of Pierre Trudeau is carrying on where his step dad left off with the objective of destroying the economy of Alberta. The only problem is the ROC will be affected including his beloved Quebec. I have no idea why the ROC wanted to keep this parasite province in the country.
Stepson! I like it 🙂
The Eco-Nazis/Watermelons could care less about the workers and their families all they care about is their idiotic utopian dream of Eco-Nut-Land where everybody lives as one with nature where everyone runs naked through the fields and woods communing with GAIA meditating under a tree while sitting lotus style and going OOOOOOMMMM OOOOOMMMMM OOOOOMMMM
Bastard liberals. Send this story to Twinkle Toes Peoplekind.
And why is anybody thinking that the trust fund guy cares. Not being sarcastic, the guy does not care.
Remember, his father had the philosophy that he will just do what he thinks is necessary, hell or high water, this is not a hyperbole.
He and his father inherited money, nobody really should care about that.
The fact that this airhead have money in important in one sense.
He did not actually have to work for it. If the current airhead loses job, no great problem his trust and the idiots that will invite him to speak for tens of thousands a shot, will take care of the finances.
That he screwed, damaged, ruined lives of others is of no consequence to this character.
On the whole, the media cartel will take care of that.
“Free The West”!
Only when we threaten to get out will they do anything to keep us in.
let the west coast bastards freeze in the dark,as well as the eastern bastards
Isn’t that true socialism when we all freeze equally?
I’m sure the pipeline will be built if someone convinced Prince Peoplekind that it’s a steel tunnel for “immigrants” and “refugees”.
Oh, he wants it built—or rather his Chinese paymasters want it built. Eventually Saudi will run out of oil and China will need another fuel tank.
It’s Chief Big Screen TV who doesn’t know when he’s well off, and wants a payday allowing him to get REALLY wasted for a change.
Not exactly … Elon’s Boring Co. will be building the “immigrant tubes” sucking third worlders into America (Canada) at the speed of sound
Might as well chuck in the other 130,000 from the auto industry.
Cars or butter. Butter wins.
Just as the left cheer when swords are pounded into ploughshares … so too they cheer when pipelines are pounded into propeller blades.
All these workers can apply for jobs working in boiler room phone banks cold calling homeowners to sell solar panels. Their new green jobs will become very well paying … after home heating fuel spikes beyond affordability.
D’yall have an Automobile related Job? Guess you may be adding your Job to this number. Once again Trudeauce sticks his finger in you eye not in the holes of the Dam between Jobs in the U.S.A. and Jobs in Canada.

JT would much rather smoke a pipe than build one. That much has been clearly taught to Canadians from this progressive conspired drama.
This and the other pipeline project abortions are Justin’s AVRO Arrow. Let that be repeated non-stop and loudly!
