Facts and the Handgun Ban

Justin Trudeau is considering a handgun ban now that the soon to be unemployed leftists councilors in Toronto have called for one.

Despite what Parkin describes as a 1,300% increase in the number of handguns, Statistics Canada says that we went from a handgun murder rate of .30 per 100,000 in 1999 to .28 per 100,000 people in 2015.

How can that be?

  1. It has nothing to do with crime. It has everything to do with channeling the outrage over the latest shooting to disarm everyone. They aren’t scared of criminals, they are scared of armed citizens.

    1. Its worse than that. They don’t care a single damn about anything. Ban, don’t ban, that’s not important. What’s important is surfing the media wave to new votes, pandering to the clueless trollops who vote Liberal in Toronto, and stealing government money.

Toronto, getting what they voted for, good and hard.

    2. That, and anybody putting two and two together and asking why a Liberal MP had to identify the corpse of one of his young, nubile gofers, as opposed to, say, her parents.

God help me, at least the Clintons had the sense to hire a pro to shut Seth Rich up for good. Team Justin hired an amateur from the local mosque to shut down another potential #MeToo situation. Amazingly, not everything went according to plan.

    3. That is a part of it. But it is also an opportunity to be petty and stick it to the constituency that hates them with passion. They know gun owners are conservative and they get to portray us as bitterly clinging deplorables and humiliate us. They also hope that someone will snap and resist so they can then motivate the ban further and further demonize us.

  2. Let me get this straight. PM Dummy is going to ban legal handgun ownership because a terrorist – I mean mentally disturbed individual – killed two lovely young girls and wounded many more with an illegal weapon that he illegally obtained and was not legally qualified to acquire or possess. MEANWHILE a legally rented van was used to kill ten citizens and hurt and maim many more by a … mentally disturbed individual and PM Dummy and all the other neo-Marxist, control-freak, kocksuckers are going to do nothing because they think the two are incomparable. Ok. Just trying to get the facts in order. Somebody please let me know if I missed something. Thanks.

    1. No. PM Dummy is going to troll for votes in Toronto and Quebec, neither of which he can win an election without, by blatantly lying-to and misleading the Canadian public and (once again) ignoring and trampling the property rights of law-abiding Canadian gun-owners who are NOT A PROBLEM, all the while the fellow-traveller Canadian Press applauds wildly and wishes him all success now and in the future. He’s quite content to see Canada end-up like Britain – the out-of-control rapes and knife-murders included – if it gets him re-elected; that’s literally all he gives a $hit about.

It’s up to us to see that it doesn’t work. Get those cards and letters in – not to Trudeau, everybody knows how he leans on the issue – to Andrew Scheer. He’s likely the only one who can put a stop to this – and if he doesn’t, he can kiss his @$$ goodbye after the leadership review when he loses the next election.

    2. State of Queensland in Oz goes one more obscure in logic IMO.

Ranchers are being refused renewal of permits for legal hand guns but are having no trouble getting permits for semi-automatic rifles.

  3. All part of the NEW WORLD ORDER and the NORTH AMERICAN(Soviet)Union disarm all law abiding Americans open our borders to unlimited and unregulated imagration from the UN,CFR, and the Democrats why else do they want ICE abolished TIME TO HANG THAT JACKASS

    1. No.They carry money for THE BANKS, who are far more important than mere people.

The LPC is having orgasms right now, they can see the day when, if all goes well, the handgun ban makes it more difficult to obtain said handguns and the next “mentally ill” Muslim jihadist murders a bunch of people in Toronto with a rifle!!! Maybe even one ‘a them deadly assault rifles!!! Then they can ban ALL weapons, eventually even knives, spears, bows, pointy sticks!

Oh fabulous joy! And to think all we had to do was sacrifice a few dozen people!

Ralph Goodale will announce the banning of all firearms in private hands, except for the bodyguards of the rich and famous. And the Trudeau love fest will go on.
Sing along with Mitch: sha-ria law, here we come…”

  4. Unfortunately sleepy Sheer will ensure donkey Socks will be re-elected. What a mess this country has become!

  5. Please let’s also deal with this tidbit:

    2,066,961 PAL holders in Canada

    839,295 Restricted and 183,333 prohibited firearms *
Which translates to a conservative number ($1000 per firearm plus accessories) for the confiscation and destruction of $
    1,012,628,000 worth of private property.

    *
    http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/2016-co…irearms-report

So, a billion dollars worth of private property destroyed for an effort that would have not stopped the Danforth shooter, and would not contribute one iota to public safety.

    1. I suggest that all handgun owners invest in a chop saw with a metal cutting blade, with which to cut the f***ing pistol right in half, which I’d do if I owned one, rather than turn it over to be added to come cop’s private collection. Call me spiteful.

Alternatively,I suppose a person living close to an FN could arrange to donate said firearms to the always exempted FN’s.

      1. Better still, one could coat them in grease, wrap in waxed paper with amo, put them in sections of PVC pipe with glued-on end caps and bury them (off site) and report them all stolen……………, but that would be illegal.

        1. I thought of this 20 years ago.
except my version was to immerse the weapon in gun oil in a rust proof sealed container.
plus, if the authorities decided to mosey around with a metal detector, they would dig up several hundred ‘piece’s of rebar and such.
TURDoo really really needs to be introduced to a suicide vest paid for by the 10.5 million.

    1. Yup, my state, Idaho murder rates from 2016-2012: Idaho murder rate: 1.9 1.7 2.0 1.9 2.9 Alberta our immediate neighbor for those years: 2.24 2.03 2.58 3.18 2.73 We have no gun control here: no license to carry openly or concealed; machine guns are not licensed by the state; there is nothing like a PAL; no registration of firearms. Of course Canadians prefer to murder with knives, so gun control is obviously a win.

    2. The Minnesota to Manitoba comparo is even more entertaining: Minnesota 2012-16: 1.8 2.1 1.6 2.4 1.8
      Manitoba: 4.32 4.03 3.51 3.63 3.19
Minnesota is not QUITE as free as Idaho; you still need a license to carry concealed in Minnesota (unlike Idaho); but they are readily available to nearly anyone who applies. Again: Canadians prefer stabbing people to death, a much more humane method.

all self defense weapons, er… wielders… are not equal…

Manjania said that he had the sword because of his
religion. “We have a Sikh temple here, and every Sikh
temple, they have a sword,” he said. “I just keep it for
safety, you know, if something happens.”

    1. I have my 1912 pattern cavalry sabre – if my guns go missing, immediately before they become illegal, I may have to sharpen it. Right now it makes a good club. Mind you, it was made for sticking, not slashing. A better investment might be a bow, or a crossbow.

  7. Facts and the Handgun Ban
Fact: In Canada, handguns are effectively already banned They’re banned on the street, they’re banned on the farm, and if you read the legislation carefully they’re even banned in the owners’ homes (if the banners seriously want to prosecute an owner for unsafe storage). So any further banning is simply political theater.

    1. I own two hand guns that my WWII vet father brought back(looted) from Europe, Trudeau can kiss my a$$.

    2. Not really.
As it currently stands I can possess a pistol and take it to the range to target practice, compete in an IPSC/IPSIC competition, educate non gun owners, improve my gun handling skills, and have a blast shooting it.
      A Pistol ban removes that.
So no, hand guns are not effectively banned already.
      But!
There is absolutely no reason why I cannot hunt with an AR15 and have a Smith & Wesson holstered on my hip while in rural areas for back up or just to shoot.
The low info voter city dwellers are core support for these traitorous Liberals.
Every gun control measure ever attempted did not affect criminals.
      It’s not about guns.
      It’s about control.
This is the globalist playbook in action, disarm the public, next it will be all semi autos, then “sniper rifles” where the ignorant will say yes, ban bolt action rifles with a scope.
      What can be done?
      – email call your MP regularly.
      – demand the CBC be defunded. They are glossing over Islamic terror and prominent Liberals’ connections to the Muslim Brotherhood.
      – challenge other media over their non coverage of Islamist Liberal Cabinet ministers with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. (check a Podcast called the Quiggin Report – a Canadian with impeccable credentials)
      – Harass your MP again, make sure he hears “you will not be reelected if a gun ban is enacted”.
      – participate in a march to Parliament Hill if this is organized. I will help.
      – these people need to be told every day they are wrong.
The Liberals need to go, badly.
Our country is literally at stake.
They walked away from $80B in private investment for crying out loud.
And how much did that deter more investment.
They have zero motivation to protect or promote Canada’s interests.

  8. If our esteemed PM wants to ban handguns, then the ban MUST extend to the guns carried by those responsible for the security of himself and other politicians. I’m supremely tired of the “ban for thee and not for me” attitude.

    1. Don’t be silly. Guns are always there for the protection of the rich and powerful, and always will be, even if Trudeau and the LPC are not in power.

  9. I’m such a ninny.
Here I was beginning to think this increase in violent acts had a direct relation to criminal gangs.
Even worse i had the silly idea these gangs had originated in immigrant communities.
What was I thinking, so glad to know now it has nothing to do with that.

  10. In Canada, it is illegal to possess a firearm without express permission from the federal government (PAL). After I get permission to possess a handgun i then have to ask permission again to transport it to a range and shoot it (ATT). I have to get permission to buy ammunition for it (PAL again) and I am forbidden from transporting it or using it any place other than where the government allows me to (ATT again). Murder is already banned. I know, preaching to the choir. Just sayin’.

  11. Again (and I hate to be a broken record), where is the Conservative “leader”, Andrew Scheer, on this stuff?

The cold-blooded murder of Jane Creba (a completely innocent by-stander) at Christmastime 2005, on Yonge Street in Toronto, led Paul Martin to declare, “I have decided that the time has come to ban handguns in Canada [or words to that effect].”

Which led Stephen Harper to say, the next evening, if memory serves, “Handguns are already banned in Canada. The problem is illegal guns, gangs and drugs [or words to that effect].” I stood there in Bernie’s Bar and Grill in west London ON, less than 10 ft away from Mr. Harper, for crying our loud, when he said that. That’s what finally swung the polls during the Christmas break in the 2005-2006 campaign, not the Gomery Commission, or anything else.

I’m not just sure what’s changed, exactly, except for certain ideological persuasions that have seemingly appeared. At the end of the day, those persuasions are not consistent with Canadian values, and have no place in our society, any more than “illegal guns, gangs and drugs” did, or do.

What, the Liberals get to change the conversation, again, in the same way that John Tory attempted to do a week ago in his disgraceful speech to Toronto City Council a week ago? Fugetaboutit.

If Andrew Scheer can’t, or won’t, make the case, it’s time for a change…

  12. If anyone wants a gun they will find one, especially when it comes to terrorist affiliation and the other excuse, mentally deranged to whatever degree…they just gravitate to guns to kill innocent citizens or are provided with them. So ban them, make them illegal and sit back and wait for the next crackpot to go on a random killing spree. The government has no solution and the laws have no teeth.

  13. Most US states do not even have gun registration, even for pistols. Someone wanting a pistol in the US can legally buy one privately from a non-dealer without the federal background check. When criminals have such easy access to guns, why would they even think of taking them away from legal owners who commit virtually no crimes.

    1. Where I live in Idaho, our state constitution says: “No law shall impose licensure, registration or special taxation on the ownership or possession of firearms or ammunition. Nor shall any law permit the confiscation of firearms, except those actually used in the commission of a felony.” You sometimes see people openly carrying handguns here (I think it is a bit gauche). A friend has a full auto Tommy gun; completely lawful, with no state licensing or registration. And we usually have lower murder rates than Alberta and always lower than Manitoba.

      1. Where you live in Idaho, society operates on the premise that the citizenry must be of the sort who can be trusted with firearms and any who fall short of this standard must be dealt with accordingly. Meanwhile, we live in a society that operates on the presumption that the citizenry will fall short of that standard (no need to wait for a demonstration) and must be dealt with accordingly.

I fear a society that doesn’t trust the likes of me with a gun. I don’t trust a government that fears me having guns.

  14. The disarming of law abiding citizens.
