By probing those layers of sediment, Garzione and her colleagues have found that parts of the Altiplano didn’t gain their great height until 5 million to 10 million years ago. That means the Andes did not rise gradually over the last 45 million years, but lurched skyward in dramatic pulses.
“But the details of how it happened have remained unclear.”
Hence the Noahic flood.
LOL
I needed a good laugh today
Or possibly 5000 years ago.
Evolution and the “billions and billions of years old earth” were both theories proposed and propped up by Jesuit puppets.
Theories proposed by evidence. Nice try.
“Theories proposed by evidence”, your words, but NO PROOF.
5000 years ago? 3000 BC-ish? Early Bronze Age?
You really don’t see any problems with that?
The Jesuits? Are all the non-Catholic, Atheist and Agnostic scientists bound by some secret oath to adhere to Jesuit teachings?
I’ve always wondered about that.
Now … what to do with that information.
When the allegorical stories (nope, NOT a Bible literalist) of the Bible start ringing more true than self-declared “science” … it should make one wonder. The Bible starts to read as somewhat loosely translated empirical evidence … and “science” as make-believe.
yet another thingy on the science channel about the big 5 billion yr old ‘dust cloud’ coalescing into the planet earth.
the rare elements showing up courtesy subsequent rain of comets, dust, bla bla bla.
BULLSHIT. the earth and all the planets at one very early point were stars that detonated each in a supernova.
the molten core of the earth has ALWAYS been that way since the beginning. it is ‘settled science’ to claim the slow tick…….tick…….tick of radioactive decay is sufficient to heat and MELT a PLANET size lump of dirt. rock is a real good conductor of heat, what heat is generated QUICKLY dissipates all the way to the surface and radiated back out into space.
the earth as reported in the Good Book in fact was created in a day. in fact, a matter of minutes whilst its supernova occurred.
minutes, not billions of years.
concentrations of specific elements merely show ‘hot spots’ in the fusion process whereby that element was favoured.
why why why do we have an I-R-O-N core? lemme check. oh ya, in the course of normal fusion in a star, iron is the last byproduct beyond which insufficient heat to go higher up the table. so, being heaviest, over those millions of years it sinks to the centre of the star. see what I’m getting at?
so yes, regarding allegory, kenji is spot on. I think Im gonna read that source again for a refresher.
Can the competing religions stop hijacking comments?
The same people who deny creation, deny that Hitler was a socialist, and notning you can say will ever change their minds.
The same people who say Hitler was right wing, insist communism has never been done correctly, and you are not changing their minds.
The reason I speak of … “my competing God” … is because if I don’t, who will? There is an active movement to ERASE “my God” from all memory. To mock believers as ignorant rubes who believe in a “sky daddy”. It’s akin to a certain “competing religion” attempting to ERASE the Holocaust from history. Who would argue that the Holocaust should NEVER BE FORGOTTEN … regardless whether I cannot convince a certain “competing religion” that it actually happened?
But I guess I apologize for your discomfort
Hello! The Biblical Creation is a nice story, but no, I don’t accept it as being correct. So I guess I am a denier. But I am aware that the National Socialists were/are Socialists and support/ed “The Workers”.
Hitler was to the right of Communism – he permitted Capitalism and Nationalism.
An anathema to any devout Communist, after all:
“Let us group together, and tomorrow The Internationale will be the Human Race.”
Oops! Sorry, that’s Socialism – Communism not done correctly.
And, yep, Communism joins Christianity, Keynesian Economics, etc., in never having been done correctly.
Because we don’t all share the same world view. So you get heretics and purges.
(Although, as far as I am aware, no Neo-Keynesians have been burned at the stake. Yet!)
I think the Andes were built by the Incans to guide aliens to their advanced civilization, or at least, somebody on the History Channel said that so it’s probably right.
Yep! I’ve SEEN the alien landing strips etched into open plains!
And didn’t you see the stone space ship nearby launch Indiana Jones into outer space with the crystal skulled aliens!?
And here I thought it was Joe Biden.
God created the heavens and the earth.
Jesus is His beloved Son.
Israel is His chosen nation, to whom He revealed His Law and Commandments.
Nations who keep that Law and bless Israel shall be blessed.
Nations who defy the Law and curse Israel shall be cursed themselves, and shall surely be destroyed.
The rest is commentary.
If you’re wondering how God made the Andes, the correct answer is, “better than you ever could.”
Those who have time and money to waste on asking such silly questions, have time and money to devote to studying God’s Law and Commandments, which He insists men know by heart and keep to the letter. Maybe one day they’ll get their priorities straight.
I am going to go out on a ledge here and call BS on this study. To me the photo looks like a volcano and not a subduction zone feature. The height of the plateau was likely built up from extreme volcanic activity and not by the root of the mountains breaking off and allowing for some variation of isostatic rebound.
Look at the photo of this mountain range and look at (say) Mount Fuji Japan. Then look at the ragged mountains near Vancouver. Volcano, not plate tectonics. Were the massive volcanoes caused by plate tectonics? Possibly (probably), but that is an entirely different theory. And I’m not a geologist.
