Elbows Way Down

I’ll go out on a limb and suggest that Canadians need to be less concerned about Trump and more concerned that voters essentially opted for a continuation of the Trudeau years with a few tweaks.

“Businesses aren’t panicking, but they aren’t betting big either,” Patrick Gill, vice-president of the business data lab at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, said.

“Pessimism about the next 12 months is now at its highest point in several years,” he said. “In that environment, firms are holding back on major expansion and taking a clear wait-and-see approach as they look for more clarity on U.S. trade policy and demand conditions.”

    1. My province didn’t. And because we’re forced into it anyway is why we’re starting the process to ask if we really want to stay.

      1. This week’s events from China have knocked 3 people I know well, off the fence and squarely into the independence camp. All said, no way they voted for closer ties to China and one expressed alarm to realize our system allows one person, in a minority parliament, to be able to single handedly change foreign policy, without citizen or parliamentary input. I wonder how many other ‘on the fence’ Albertans will react the same.

  1. A two thousand word essay on the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s love for China,
    who isn’t mentioned once.

Jornolithp Barbara would have you believe business in Canada
has no concerns for their future under She Ding-a-ling.

  2. You can actually be concerned about both.

But I give Carney credit for being an upgrade, although that’s a pretty low bar.

    1. Upgrade? In terms of the German general staff classification of officers, we went from stupid and lazy to stupid and hardworking, and the latter is the most dangerous category of all. Carney has to go. Period.

    2. One of the problems with the upgrade is the strategy hasn’t changed. Carney sees the solution to all our problems as government needing to do more, not getting out of the way. Carney is a better driver with the same wrong directions.

        1. Busted down? Hardly.

And, at what cost? So that Chynese EV’s can increase the surveillance of their 24th province? Nice…

        2. You mean ” sucked a golf ball through a garden hose”.
If that’s your version of busting down well I can see it.
          But hey.you keep doing you.

    3. Sorry, but I hardly believe that “Made in Chinada” will ever become a thing in the US or Globally. Carney … an upgrade? I believe the word you were searching for is … retrograde.

    4. “But I give Carney credit for being an upgrade…”

Dude. #CarkMarney is now doing openly what even #ShinyPony had the sense to hide. In what way is that an upgrade?

Someone tell J.J. McCullough, cause I think he’s about to have a total TDS mental collapse.
This past week’s news is Carney cozying up to China… never mind that says J.J. Quixote, Trump is about to invade Greenland!!!!!!

  4. There doesn’t appear to be any movement against the #Libranos in national polls … a look at what’s on their agenda to bring to the House of Commons is all Liberal all the time and offensive to any free thinking person who would have been a liberal in decades past. There isn’t any topic I agree with them on, I can’t even think of an example to cite which may be agreeable to some other people.
The idea of confederation within Canada hasn’t existed within me for decades and number of people standing outside at an Edmonton park yesterday for +2 hours to sign a petition on a fold up card table for a referendum to leave is the only bright spot I can see.

    1. Another view from a pollster not represented at 338Canada and shows very different results by a wide spread of age.

You’d think things were relatively rosy by this poll, I can’t make out as to why this result is so, nor why Canadians would purchase electric vehicles while living in a cold climate.
You know the saying, “never buy a French built car outside of France”? How many times does a person need to learn this lesson?

      1. “I can’t make out as to why this result is so, nor why Canadians would purchase electric vehicles while living in a cold climate.”

Because they’re being paid to lie? This is my optimistic view.

People do buy Teslas in 905/416. Once you get 100+ miles away from Toronto they are very few. Not too many out in the snow either, I notice. Second car? Vanity purchase?

If the Chicom ones are amazingly cheap (and they will be) I expect a lot of kids will buy them. Better than a frickin’ scooter in the winter, right?

“How many times does a person need to learn this lesson?”

That is hard to say. If polls and elections are crooked, then it doesn’t really matter if people learned from experience or not, their opinion isn’t represented in the result.
But on the other hand the number of people who seem to have learned nothing from Covid doesn’t fill me with hope for the future.

  5. It would take a retard to buy a Tesla in 40 below Canada. It would take a special retard to buy a throwaway Chinese electrical vehicle, the guy retards call retards.

  6. This is a feature not a flaw by the founders of confederation
One of the founding principles was a fear of becoming part of the US.
The counter argument to this founding principle which the founders never wanted to talk about was, why should we remain a vassal state of others that want to use North America as a cash cow?

  7. You say Somalian, I say Liberal.

Word is the Somalians based their whole approach to Scamming on the Canadian Liberal model:

Remember, most people are just plain stupid.
    Above all be brazen.
    No conscience required.
    Lie as needed.
    All opposition is racist.
Use the crooked Media for cover.
Rinse and repeat for 159 years.

  8. What’s unclear about it?

    1. The United States government insist that any trade deal be to the benefit of the United States, not their enemies.

    2. Canadians can find it in themselves remove, promptly, their puppet government under the control of the CCP and replace it with something willing to do business with the United States in good faith, or the United States will do it for them.

If they choose the latter, it will be a long time before they are once more allowed to govern themselves, if they ever are again.

For now the choice is theirs.

  9. Wow. If Canada is to become an actual satellite of China, I can’t imagine that we in the US are going to keep that border uncontrolled.
