    1. Excellent!! Let us hope the former PM can persuade the current US administration to minimize retaliation because of our current PM’s immaturity.

    2. If Mr. Harper had sent a message to the current PM indicating he was going to visit the President and that message was only in 1 language, the imbecile PM in Ottawa would have blamed the memo, and the CTV would have carried that message unabridged and without question.

There’s no pleasing the #Libranos or their media, why bother trying to?
Clearly President Trump knows that not all Canadians are imbeciles, but will be relieved to know that not all Canadian politicians are imbeciles as well.

Perhaps Mr. Harper will outline the timeline for PM Trudeau’s exit…

    3. Ironic isn’t it.
Trudeau never gave a staight answer ever on his visit to the Aga Khan’s private island, but Harper must follow convention and advise the PMO aka Gerald Butts if he’s visiting a White House security advisor.

Stephen Harper lives rent free in their mind.

    4. Indeed. The corrupt CTV News is a paid-and-bought-for mouthpiece for the federal Trudeau Liberals. Catch the biased headline for this CTV drivel.

    5. Does PM Dishonest & Weak and the Lieberal Party of A$$holes inform Mr. Harper every time they blame him for every thing it can think of?

    6. Maybe he will return with some good suggestions for Trudeau and Freeland on how to solve the issue. But would they be sensible enough to even listen? I am not confident of that.

      1. If it was offered think of the numerous head explosions coming out of the PMO.
        Headline suggestion for July 3.

        Or shorter version

    7. But Obama has been blindsiding Trump openly and has gotten only applause from the media.

  1. Toronto Mayor John Tory has warned Canada’s biggest city can no longer cope with the number of asylum seekers and refugees entering the country amid President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
“We have exhausted our available sites, our resources and our personnel,” Tory said during a press conference on Tuesday, issuing a plea for assistance from provincial and federal governments.

Who would have thought this would happen?

    1. “Toronto Mayor John Tory has warned Canada’s biggest city can no longer cope with the number of asylum seekers and refugees…”

      Aw. That’s so sad.

        1. There must be some mistake, there is no way that Tarawna could have a large number of shootings. Don t you people realize that Canada has very stringent gun control laws, and we are constantly being told that we should be grateful to our all knowing superior intellect politicions for making us so safe.

    1. Another dumb article from those morons. Still continuing the myth that somehow Canada is a gateway for China steel. Except we barely import any. Whoops.

      1. 142 thousand metric tons from China YTD for June 2018
annual production is about 1100 metric tons
Another claim that is not backed up by any numbers and easily refuted.
        Whoops.

        1. Except Canada produced about 14 million metric tons last year. Enough to fill 700,000 semi trailers! Produced not relabeled or whatever made up theory here.

In contrast we imported 0.8 mmt from China and 4.8 mmt from the USA.

You guys really need to look this up rather than just making stuff up.

          1. Steel production figures from an imports report? Page 6 chart right?
My source for production was https://tradingeconomics.com/canada/steel-production, which being late when I posted I misstated as annual instead of monthly.

However I can not find your import numbers in the import report, and instead find:
            “The
            United States by far accounted
for the largest share of Canada’s
imports by source country at 60
            percent (1.2 mmt), followed by
            China at 7 percent (142
            thousand metric tons)”

Where do your numbers come from?

    2. It now “begins to lobb …”?

Clearly our government is only part-time. Surely it should have been on the ball from before the election of Trump as a precautio; preparing positions and strategies, etc. Talkng with those affected. etc.

      1. Justin and his paks were too busy being condescending towards Trump. Justin made a number of sneering remarks, and then, I believe, someone told him to shut up. He remains hostile to Trump, and it shows. That would be one factor behind the trade fiasco.

    3. That’s why only now are they writing off that debt owed by Detroit.

Of course, Trump just oversaw a huge tax cut and Detroit’s best chance to put the UAW out of business. What Ottawa has to offer won’t cut it.

  2. Man convicted in gang rape of 14-year-old girl

Omar Kromah was one of a group of men who gang raped a young teen in a darkened bathroom, a judge ruled Tuesday…

…Eamon noted she feared for her safety and that of her family if she went to authorities about the assault, but she “did so anyway” and identified Kromah in a photo lineup.

…A third suspect, Zakariya Abdow, was fatally stabbed on the Stampede Grounds in July 2015, more than a year after the sexual assault.

    More Pavilions at Folk Fest-
The nightmare of young teen girls in the U.K., Sweden and West. Europe, has it arrived in Calgary?

    1. Another gang rape by a broad strata of society.

      Having said that:
“The men and the teen girl had been smoking marijuana while the males consumed alcohol prior to the assault, court heard.”
Perhaps smoking dope with three strange men of undetermined ethnic origin and religious persuasion in a bathroom isn’t the smartest thing to do?

    2. So the scumbag will get what, 2 years less a day? As for the girl, I realize 14 year olds aren’t very bright, but if you’re smoking pot with a bunch of drunk Al Qaedas you can pretty much bet they’re going to rape you repeatedly.
      Diversity is Our Strength.

    1. There is a giant cadre of immigration lawyers in this country whose sole purpose is to get anyone and everyone into this country. There are loads of them in Ottawa. It is a giant industry when you consider how many we take in:

  3. How will our self described feminist prime minister be able to stifle/handle/explain away the groping allegation that has been surfacing that allegedly happened 18 years ago?

    1. And this is just the one we know about.

How many other less protected “not a national journalist” victims are out there? Aggressively forward groping does not just occur spontaneously, it is a learned trait that is enforced when no negative results occur. Very likely not the only one.

    2. 18 years ago? Simple, it’s Bush’s fault. Then change the topic before anyone can ask how that’s possible.

And the shipyard where it’s being constructed is owned by a US company.

As I’ve said many times before, Canada must have a much stronger homegrown defence industry in order for our nation to be truly independent.

That has been made extremely clear after a new Ottawa Citizen report which notes that Canada’s new navy supply ships are being built with American steel, not Canadian Steel.

As noted in the report, “The supply ships are being built at the Vancouver shipyards of Seaspan, which is owned by a U.S. company. The Department of National Defence confirmed the steel is being purchased from a mill in Alabama, a solidly Republican state that voted 62 per cent for Trump.””

    1. “Canada must have a much stronger homegrown defence industry in order for our nation to be truly independent”
If Canada wants to be taken seriously as a country it needs to have some kind of policy, any kind of policy, aimed at defending itself.
When it comes to defense spending and military procurement, we are such a minor player worldwide that I would prefer we bought all our military requirements right off the shelf. That way union feather bedding and all the political graft and corruption that goes with awarding contracts for military spending would take on a less important role.

      1. “If Canada wants to be taken seriously as a country it needs to have some kind of policy, any kind of policy”

We could stop that sentence right there. Currently there is no sign of any policy in any area, just a collection of feefees from the Prom Minister and his Cabin Nuts.

“‘We won’t win a trade war with the U.S.,’ Bernier warns”

Former industry minister Maxime Bernier blasted the Trudeau government’s response to escalating trade tensions Wednesday, arguing Canada will not win a trade war against the United States.

In a series of tweets, Bernier said the promised $16.6 billion retaliatory trade package, placed on a wide range of American products, would hurt Canadian consumers. The tariffs are set to take effect July 1.

Bernier criticized Ottawa’s promise to provide government support to the country’s steel and aluminium industries and insisted Canada is headed in the “WRONG direction.”

Canada, he noted, faces a “dangerous escalation of conflict with our main trading partner,” a situation that has resulted in decreased investment in this country.

-New tariffs on US imports that will harm Can consumers
    -More gov aid to businesses
-Dangerous escalation of conflict with our main trading partner
    -Investment down because of uncertainty
-No measures to restore tax competitiveness”

“By Refusing To Scrap The Carbon Tax, Trudeau Has Already Economically Surrendered To Trump

How can we attract jobs and investment to Canada when it’s so much cheaper to do businesses in the US?

The US is obviously a much bigger economy than Canada. However, that doesn’t mean we don’t compete with them in many ways.

As societies that both feature a large proportion of English speakers, relatively similar labour standards, and integrated trade and supply chains, many companies look at Canada and the US as very compatible markets, and are willing to set up shop in either country.

So, the choice for companies comes down to where they can make the most profit. When companies pick Canada, we gain jobs and investment, and our country becomes more prosperous. When they pick the US, an opportunity for Canada is lost.

In that way, Canada does compete with the US.”
