  1. “You would think [Justin] was working against Canada instead of for us.”

Well of course he is! He works for the people who pay him—the globalists and Chinese communists—whose ultimate plan for Canada is to put our natural resources fully at the disposal of the Chinese war machine.

Their activities have never been in the best interest of Canadians whose best-case scenario under Chinese dominion is enslavement and ultimately replacement by Chinese settlers.

The globalists, in a last desperate attempt to drive Trump from power, plan to trigger another global financial crisis and a worldwide economic depression. Canada will be collateral damage, as will almost all developed nations.

Trudeau’s plan is to blame Trump when Canada’s banking system fails, and to stay in power long enough to get his cut of the foreclosure sale of Canada to the Chinese.

    1. Trudles is Canada’s Obama, unfortunately.

Lilley really pulls his punches, here. He should get out front of the media voices he competes with, and really explain where Justina’s dereliction of duty on trade will leave Canada, going forward. Time to deal with the trade angst by looking at the whole picture, and dealing with it, now. The PCs will never lead public opinion, only trail after it. That will be uncomfortable, but it must be done. No one wants the only option to be serving up Canada on a silver platter to the Red Chinese.

  2. Well … good thing ‘Justin’ isn’t working FOR the Canadian people … because that would make him an ewwwww … ‘populist’ PM. What could possibly be WORSE than to be considered a ‘populist’ these days. Good thing PM Sockeye is maintaining his anti-populist cred. A real ‘elite’ Leader.

  3. One wonders just how stupid the libs are, if they think the Americans will allow a Chinese client state to be created on their northern border.

  4. I love how the Liberal media blame this ALL on Trump.

Speaking of incompetence, I guess Trudeau’s utterly catastrophic trade dealings and damaging lies and insults targeted at India were Trump’s fault, too.

Only a leftard could miss the emerging pattern, here.

  5. In a week the book will close on NAFTA. Mexico will elect a nationalist/communist and negotiations will end as Mexico decides to emulate Venezuela. The battle wasn’t even about Canada but Trudeau figured out a way to make it about us. The US has a trade surplus with Canada and we have a brutal deficit in manufactured goods. We manufacture almost nothing except cars in southern Ontario and those plants keep closing. The drama teacher and his friends just couldn’t shut the eff up.

    1. Trump offered Trudeau a bi-lateral deal. “Take 3 blocks of cheese from Wisconsin and we can call it a done deal”. But bi-lateral trade deals are anathema to globalists so Trudeau said no-thanks.

      1. ….and Trudeau is looking out for the 50 cleptogarch families who are pocketing the bulk on the trade $$s on parts & sub assemblies shipped from Canada to Mexican car plants where workers earn $3/hr.

    2. Agreed.
Was listening to reports out of mexico a coupla nights back and NAFTA isn’t on the radar. It’s not an election issue.
If the reports are to be believed there will be a change of government but mexican politics is corrupt and the wealth of the country is held by about 50 families. They decide who wins.
Canada has made a colossal blunder tying itself to mexico in the NAFTA negotiations.

  6. Being really honest I think most of the Laurentian Elite think of themselves as Americans with all the rights of American citizens and thus think that the trade tiff will always go their way in the end. IOW the US must bend to the Laurentian Elite’s point of view since the Laurentian Elite has every right to dictate American trade policy just as they have every right to dictate Canadian trade policy.

    1. I would argue that the Laurentian Elite are rather by and large the descendants of the United Empire Loyalists and have hated the Americans since American independence. Only during the last one hundred years when there is a Democrat administration is there a cautious effort to cooperate, and on the rare occasions when there is a Republican administration and a conservative Canadian one. Although one could also argue that a hundred and fifty years ago these roles were reversed.

  7. I agree with A Canadian and his assessment about Brian’s statement, “You would think he was working against Canada instead of for us.”, that of course he (Trudeau) is.

I might quibble a bit with his deductions though, as well as becoming a colony of China and being a part of an effort to undermine Trump, I think there is a hefty ideological dose of fulfilling Maurice Strong’s dream of deindustrializing the western world and in this particular case, Canada. Butts is steering Trudeau toward creating the west’s first post-industrial state.

  8. Ah yes still going on about Canadian tariffs, ignoring that they have the same thing! They also just signed a farm subsidy bill worth half a trillion dollars over 5 years.

    1. You are too obtuse , so I shall give solution. Nix the marketing board . Subsidize to the US level. We all still pay , but at least 33 million benefit instead of 10 thousand . It’s hilarious you are but hurt because you want to protect 10 thousand at the expense of 33 million.

      1. Yet that’s a complete distortion of what I want. It also shows how ridiculous Trumps argument is. Especially given the gmhuge dairy surplus they have with us.

If we get rid of quota and marketing boards their surplus with us is likely to go DOWN

  9. Brian’s assessment of Trudeau’s negligence is totally accurate. My question is, why are so many Canadians blind about the damage being done by Trudeau. Part of it, of course, is the anti-Trump media, but what the H—- is wrong with the media? I know they are pro-liberal, but this situation is dangerous and the media seems to have forgotten how to think. Maybe a few constructive pieces on what needs to be done to get over this impasse. The obvious and most helpful thing would be for Trudeau to apologize — not grovel, just “sorry for the misunderdtanding”. Trudeau is a very big part of this problem.

    1. You answer is: MAJORITY STUPID.

The citizens of Canada, by and large are too stupid to survive, act in their own self interest, eat, walk, blink, …

The evidence of this, and it is irrefutable, is the election of Trudeau. Canada aspires to actually become the movie ‘Idiocracy’. And I think we have achieved it.

      1. Kevin, if Mr. Truedoo gets re-elected in a snap election, your hypothesis would be proven beyond any doubt. However, as it stands now, there is very little evidence to the contrary of said hypothesis. Aren’t teachers unions wonderful for Canada?

    2. Trudeau’s actions are consistent with the view that he believes he can secure investment from the Chinese that is at least equal to any lost US investment, and so he really doesn’t need be concern himself with how a new NAFTA turns out. And such an arrangement would of course be government centric, meaning the ruling party will be able to direct trade flows and investment to favored provinces, or political supporters. That probably is the real reason that Trudles prefers a pivot to China, over deeper North American trade integration. He is concerned with what benefits the Liberal party, first and foremost, not the nation. Having the US As a whipping boy in the next general election is a plus also.

What he overlooks is that the geographic proximity of Canada to US makes the US a far richer source of opportunity for Canadian economic growth, even if the auto pact goes away. The fixation over the auto agreement has caused people to overlook this fact and to fail to think about other opportunities.

    3. “The obvious and most helpful thing would be for Trudeau to apologize — not grovel, just “sorry for the misunderdtanding”. Trudeau is a very big part of this problem.” LindaL
When someone says one thing to your face & another behind your back…No apology will work….. Trump will not trust Trudeau & any compromise would hurt America (The ship has sailed JMHO , Steel mill in SC owned by EU folks has reopened to provide added market capacity.. The Trump policy favors US workers by bringing global capacity back to America…. Boy that Harley tariff really hurts.. who would think all those Trump Bikers would be a target. Dam they will be so busy selling a motivated US market that they will be unable to ship globally…No Harley for you

    4. “My question is, why are so many Canadians blind about the damage being done by Trudeau.”

Spoiled 20, 30, 40 and 50 year olds have been told “There’s NO Santa Claus, and THAT guy Trump killed him”.

  10. He is working for Trudeau and the Liberal party . 50/50 for a snap election based on anti US and trade platform. After he wins (likley ) he will fold like a poker player bluffing with a junk hand . The voters will have 5 more years to forget and be malipulated . 5 more years of fleeing investment . Oh well, we will own a 70 year old pipeline .

  11. this trade war is about preserving the globalist world order .. it’s about taking Trump down….Canadians are collateral damage. Here’s Freeland’s acceptance speech at her diplomat of the year award after comparing Trump to Hitler (NY Times June 9) & “Facts matter”.

    https://www.canada.ca/en/global-affairs/news/2018/06/address-by-minister-freeland-when-receiving-foreign-policys-diplomat-of-the-year-award.html

And NO. The globalists did not move the factories to china to save the planet.

  12. Justin doesn’t care because he will always have his seat and daddy’s money.

Until Canadians show up at his hair salon and badger him for his incompetence and @$$holery, he will continue running this country into the ground.

Why doesn’t western Canada start cutting off eastern Canada? No oil or wheat.

Premiers from other provinces should act in their respective provinces’ best interests. Why not look into making deals without Justin?

Where are the parents of special-needs children denied a chance to go to summer camp? When Kathleen Wynne refused to help autistic children, their parents showed up at Queen’s Park. Where are the other parents?

Doesn’t Andy Scheer want Justin’s job in 2019? He had better damn well act like it.

    1. I doubt Andrew Scheer has any burning passionate ambition to take Justin’s job and reverse the damage he has done to Canada. Scheer is an Ottawa baby, and has been into politics since high school. He has probably gone higher than he ever dreamed, as Leader of the Opposition, which comes with about a $50,000 bonus and all kinds of perks.

Scheer has done very well for himself, and I’d bet he is very satisfied with himself at this point in his career.

Nope, if Scheer wins, we can expect a less globalist type government, maybe, but sucking up to the IPCC and UN will continue as before, as will mass immigration from the Middle East. I doubt Scheer would order the RCMP to turn illegal immigrants back at the U.S. Border, just keep letting them come, after all, they might be enticed to vote CPC some day!
We will possibly be able to complete some trade agreements, but those will mostly benefit the Laurentian Elite, while the peasants will get the crumbs as usual, and be scolded that without free trade with China, none of us would be working. And our basic food items will still be twice the price the Americans pay.

Scheer ain’t Trump, or even Ronald Reagan, more like our Jimmy Carter, a nice fellow who will go along to get along and be as forgotten as most Canadian PM’s are within about 30 years.

  13. The current attitude of anti Trump anti USA sentiment is directly relational to Canada having taken for granted having the US next door.
Due to geography any threat to us was considered by the US to be a threat to them.
An example where we went out of tune with them was when Trudeau started cozying up to Castro when he knew that diplomatic relations with Cuba where just wrong as long as Castro’s communist regime held power. To them it made no sense but because they didn’t judge the whole of Canada to be of the Trudeau mentality they worked around it and continued to maintain good relations with Canada.
This good relationship has allowed Canada to spend on social programs (coincidentally massively increased during PET) without having to spend on defense. Because of this we have taken it for granted to the point of neglecting our security obligations to the point now that we don’t really take part in the top level discussions. On occasion we will make a feeble attempt to demonstrate our commitment to carrying the load but due to a depleted capability are constrained to having shoe horn in on one that is already up and running or taking on an obscure mission in a supporting role ….. if this is punching above our weigh it would be in a class below mini weight….the latest contribution being to Mali. A role that is far below what was pledged and only demonstrates to the rest of the world we really do play a minor role so why bother in the first place. The result of this that we don’t hold any influence on the world and are now considered a vassal. The only question now remains is whose vassal state are we?
Harper tried through incremental change to turn things around. However I am of the opinion this requires our PM to suffer a major embarrassment on the world stage for the liberal electors to grasp the situation fully.
I’m guessing the NATO summit will be the one where juthtin recieves the metaphorical wedgie. ….and it might not just be Trump doing it.

  14. As part of the HOG (Harley Owners Group) I’m pissed that HD is moving to Europe! Yeah I’ve been to the Capital Drive factory in Milwaukee and I’ve got all the Harley stuff sans tattoos.

Whew…now that I’ve got that out… the seriousness of the trade issue has now landed on the Trumpsters desk. Not many products are more iconic than HD in America. They wasted no time and threw the first punch when it came to how tariffs affect trade. I’m not sure what % of HD’s total sales are in Europe but probably not enough to warrant a factory there. If sales were significant a factory would already be there.
HD has focused the debate. Yes protectionism keeps jobs at home but it also costs jobs. Business rarely negotiates in public. Trump has to be hearing from the business community. I suspect he will soften his approach somewhat having accomplished what he has by bringing everyone to their senses.

    1. He has already responded with a promise to tax the crap out of their European earnings.

    2. In USA assembled HDs, 60% of parts are manufactured overseas. Have been for decades. HD has a plant in Brazil since 1998. They had planned to open a plant in Thailand way before this trade row started. Per fair trade, corps should be allowed to manufacture in countries where they sell. The problem here is HD picked a bad time and this has resulted in bad PR while Trump is trying to get the EU to drop its 25% duty on vehicle imports from the USA.
Does HD think the EU duty that hurts USA automotive workers is OK?
News is Germans have blinked. “German automakers are willing to abandon car tariffs between the European Union and the U.S. in exchange for President Donald Trump dropping a 25 percent border tax threat on European auto imports, according to The Wall Street Journal. “
And the Donald keeps winning and winning.

    3. https://www.statista.com/statistics/252220/worldwide-motorcycle-retail-sales-of-harley-davidson/

The USA sales about 148,000, Europe approx: 45,000, Canada: approx 10,000, , Latin America: 9400

I wonder if H-D is owned by very anti-Trumpers, as what sensible businessman would move their operations for roughly a quarter of their annual sales? Save 45,000 to lose 168,000 ?

“I suspect he will soften his approach somewhat having accomplished what he has by bringing everyone to their senses.”
      Yep.Looks like the plan alright.

  15. Trudopians are too dumb to understand that Justard and his handlers hate them and the country. Justard keeps telling Trudopians how much he hates them but Trudopians don’t seem to care as they’re just too stupid to comprehend the consequences. Imagine another leader, lets say Harper saying shit like Canada is the first “Post National State” and getting away with it, or how much he admires Chinas dictatorship while the Media cheers him on or simply ignores the idiocy. Trudopians are divided by tribes, unions, and ethnicity just as the Trudeau Charter dictates, its full of self interested dopes and corrupt to its trudopian core.
