Five lives, frozen in metaphor.
At a height of more than 2050ft above sea-level, Stronelairg wind farm is one of the highest wind farms built.
Willie Anderson, leader of Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, said the men were freezing inside their substation because the heating generator had run out of fuel.

I’m guessing the facility either isn’t finished yet or the power generated isn’t stepped down for onsite use.
I’m guessing wind power isn’t reliable enough to bet your life on. I’m guessing that when Jim Jones died, a whole bunch of gullible fools went looking for a new cult.
A fitting snapshot of the limitations and stupidity of the entire global alternative energy industry.
There is enough irony in this incident to keep a good comedian going for an hour’s worth of material.
Pity George Carlin isn’t still with us…this has his name written all over it.
I’m guessing that I, have worked amidst many of these sporadic wasters of money and eyesores and watched as they creak and groan and start up, wind dies and shut down, creak and groan again, start up wind dies and off they go. Only an idiot or a liberal and a thief, which are all one, could believe these are the future for energy.
Lucky they had their wind powered skidoo and ATV to escape.
Aside from the obvious, and perhaps Gord Tulk is correct, what bozo-in-charge of the work crew wouldn’t make sure that there was sufficient fuel to power the generator that provides an essential for life, heat?
I have been in charge of many projects and work crews, and I always planned for every possible contingency, with a lot smaller budget than these guys have. In this case, there is simply no excuse. That is why,as we blue collar workers used to say,”you’re paid the big bucks”.
The crew chief should be fired out on his frozen ass.
He was waiting for a better wind.
precisely. seriously, what is the shelf life of what, kerosene?
the situation is evidence of the presumptions enveloping the truth in 30 layers of fiction.
lucky for the crew they got out.
most people really dont know what COLD cold is like. including the likes of sheltered pampered lieberals who spend their time dreaming up new taxes.
Pincher Creek has about 1600 feet of elevation and has (or had) a whack of windmills. I assume they have things called snowplows.
Sorry – Pincher Creek has 1600 feet more elevation – around 3,700 feet.
You mean like when you see a movie and they are supposed to be in the Arctic, and they are not even wearing face covering in the blizzard? Maybe the same wardrobe people are in charge of the furnace.

Didn’t you know that in real cold (i. e., what Hollywood portrays in the movies), you don’t see your breath? By the way, one of the few that at least attempted some sort of cold climate realism is The Thing From Another World (the 1950s original, not the hokey remakes).
Seriously!? Sprawling wind farms on the hills surrounding Loch Ness? Despoiling another beautiful natural environment. Oh well … there’s another tourist destination OFF my list. Way to spoil the tourist industry, in exchange for what!? Geeze Scots !? Stupid sods.
“a skidoo” (like a snowmobile)”
It’s becomes more and more amazing to me why we care what the idiots in the MSM type.
I learned from a friend, who spent time in Shishmare, AL … that the correct term is … “snow machine”. Although that may just be among the Aboriginal community.
The 1970’s called … and they want their Skidoo back.
Shishmaref … sheesh … stupid iPad.
…”Frozen in metaphor”…
Kate, that was pure genius! I love it !
The term here is “sled”.
Maybe they ran out of wind as well ? hahaha!
they should have turned to solar panels…or did they run out of blue skies as well ?
damn
