Why am I not bothered by MY President’s little slip in presidential decorum? For multiple reasons really.
First, it’s because he is a REAL builder and developer. Meaning he has built REAL things in the REAL world. Find me a past president who has ever done anything REAL in their lives? They’re all Lawyers or rich kids sons who SPENT their daddy’s wealth (instead of leveraging it into something even greater – like Trump). Out here in the REAL world (where Trump was elected) … people are often curt, and rude. On a construction site (as well as in the Developers offices) … “harsh” pejoratives are often spoken. Meh. It’s not personal (unless you are a fkcu-up). Nobody out here in the REAL world is “shocked” or “horrified” (as the usual cast of characters: sakwatch, UnREALme, et.al.).
Second, because I am a Christian. But not the “traditional” uptight “perfect” … projection … of a Christian. Nope, I am a flawed man. And more importantly, Christ has taught me that “outward appearances” are meaningless. Surely, the Pharisees of Christ’s era were proper gentlemen who never uttered a “negative” word in public. Yet their souls were as black as night. They were NOTHING like the personnas they presented. So, I have been taught (by Christ) to feel as comfortable with the “common” “coarse” man in the street; fishermen, hookers, carpenters, etc. (the hoi polli) as I am with “proper-educated” erudite aristocracy. But if truth be told … I much prefer the REAL people, to the smiling faces and handshakes of the upper-crust … who always seem to be on the make, concealing a knife behind their backs.
Third, because of my view of “language”. Simply put. I believe “language” is fundamentally a means of communication … of CONCEPTS. When I am listening, observing, or reading … I am always looking for the MEANING and CONCEPTS that are attempting to be communicated. Sometimes, the concepts and meaning are quickly and easily understood … as in a “shithole” has limited interpretations. I suppose it would have been “more proper” for Trump to have exclaimed that Haiti is “economically challenged”, or that its people “lack the education” necessary to become functional American citizens. However, such euphemisms demand more complex “interpretation”. Sometimes, shorthand communication is best (see: the construction job site trailer). MY President is never going to communicate in oblique Shakespearean language. Doing so is exhausting to the listener and the translation is often garbled and misinterpreted. While this may be the actual GOAL of a politician … to be inscrutable and vague … MY President is no politician. And THIS is exactly WHY he is president.
I am sitting back relishing how the chattering class (chattering in inscrutable mumbles) is feigning “shock” and “horror” at MY President’s verbal shorthand. And I cannot WAIT till the first “post-shithole” POLL is issued … which will invariably show a meteoric DROP in Trump “popularity”. All this will serve to “prove” … is how easily MY President will WIN a second term.
Personally I see this as Trump setting up another domino against the Clintons. By deliberately calling out Haiti, he’s refocusing attention on the Clinton Foundation raised millions of dollars to help lift Haiti out of its “shithole” status, so the question is now, in Hillary’s own words: “What Happened”?

The article pretty well reports the TOTAL FAILURE of the Clinton Foundation, and Bill and Hillary personally in Haiti. … however … claims a slightly misinterpreted, misreported case of a FAILED Hospital rebuild project wasn’t JUST the Clinton’s fault … but a joint-venture FAULT including the Clinton’s personally … and … a special Government program.
Yes … Haiti is a shithole. And to borrow the words of Twitter employees … the Clinton’s are shitty people.
What it freakin’ idiot. Oh well, this just plays into the hands of China who are wooing these “shithole” countries and investing billions. China wants the resources and there is also the huge consumer class potential. So from an economic and geopolitical perspective, it was a very stupid comment (even if we all agree that these countries have dire problems). It just shows (again) how unfit this guy is to be President. Someone should also say to Trump that 99.9% of Norwegians would say why the hell would they want to emigrates to the USA when they are currently living in a much superior country.
But having said the above, I also question the leaking of this comment. If I was a Dem in that meeting, I would have not leaked it. My country’s national interest supersedes partisan politics.

Since BOTH these places are in the news today, I want to offer a little comparison and contrast between Haiti and Santa Barbara. Huh, you say ? Well both places suffered a devastating earthquake that flattened most all the buildings in each locale. Complete and utter destruction.

In fact, the property values of Santa Barbara are among the VERY HIGHEST in the USA. And the enclave of Montecito, where Oprah’s Estate suffered mudslide damage is one of the most ULTRA expensive and exclusive neighborhoods in the world.
The $$ money that flowed into Santa Barbara was used to hire Architects, and local builders who actually CREATED and BUILT a community from the ashes of earthquake and fire.
Even MORE $$$ (as adjusted for inflation) flowed into Haiti … the result of Bill Clinton’s face. HER face and Foundation … and to a lesser degree, George Bush’s. But instead of that vast amount of money being used to actually REBUILD (as MY President did for a living) … it went into the pockets of corrupt politicians, relatives (like HER brother), and hangers-on. In the WAPO article above … SHE couldn’t even get a small tiny-house (prefab eco-house) development built. USA/Santa Barbara … got rebuilt into a gem by the sea … Haiti … Swiss Bank Accounts swelled, and the shithole got shittier.
