If former president Fox is looking to Trudeau for support he is in for a real surprise. Trudeau is about as reliable as a broken reed as far as support is concerned. All that aside the problem both Trudeau and Fox have is Trump has all the ‘trump’ cards. Mexico and Canada want trade pacts with the US much more than the US wants or needs trade pacts with Canada or Mexico. I know trade pacts make wonderful headlines and all but the fact is that when entering such a pact the participating governments forgo a lot of the nation’s sovereignty. Witness the Canada EU pact where Belgium now has greater control over Canada’s product standards than any of the Canadian provinces.

The US needs trade just as much as anyone. Canada and Mexico OTOH seem to do a better job of striking trade deals with other countries. Mexico has tons of trade deals. TPP is actually proceeding along better without the US. They will be left behind if they do not adjust their attitude.

Canada should only negotiate on the basis of what is best for Canada. Why should our negotiators be determined to sign a three way deal in order to include Mexico if there is no economic advantage in doing so.I understand that PM Butts and his assistant Juthtin think that they have a duty to promote “post nationalism” but Donald Trump and most of the rest of the world think differently.

Anyone who thinks USA needs trade is retarded. From Alaska to Florida berries to diamonds USA has it all , now I will say trade is in general good for any countries economy . Ironic that yesterday, my buddy took the transfer case out of his 4 X 4. The made in USA replacement part is $450 Cdn however he got one from a jobber for $275. Where was it made?? India. The mechanics informed him that the Indian part is a much better quality than the factory made shaft. They’ve never had to replace one yet.
