On one hand he *claims* to want honest research, and sincere, productive dialog but he has excluded all the things that would allow that to happen. You will never get honest science without skepticism and skeptics. They keep science honest. The very reason he calls skeptics “deniers” is to associate them with holocaust deniers. It is a lame,ugly attempt to discredit questions or cautions about CAGW data, models and policies. Saying denier is exactly like screaming Heretic!!! It’s the opposite of engaging in dialog.
The pope also claims that any discussions of technical solutions or discussions about adaptation (“resigned to it”) or lukewarmers who say that it might not be catastrophic (“ignore it”) are all forbidden. There must be no deviation from the one, the true, the virtuous path. Typical authoritarian religious reasoning and style. He is an anti-science, anti-debate ideolog.

Yes, I have been following Leah Remini’s series on Scientology. I find it absolutely despicable to see such cruelty and abuse openly inflicted on people in modern times in a supposedly educated and ‘free’ America. This Pope is going to cause all sorts of problem for the Roman Catholic Church. This is not the largest. Redefining what the Roman Catholic Church has taught for centuries to be exactly the opposite (on capital punishment already, and there is good reason to thing he’ll make a move towards inclusivism, if not full on universalism since he’s already preached as much).
What will you do when Francis redefines your Tradition to include transgenderism, homosexual marriage and abortion? Maybe not this one, but why not the next?
This is yet another reason why the Reformation still matters. I love my RC friends but you need to rethink your theology. Unfortunately when the Pope gets to declare what that is (and several Popes in the past have said “I am Tradition”), this is fundamentally impossible.
I believe Roman Catholic followers would better understand the inconsistencies in the teachings of their church (as well as the incredible perversions of its priests and cardinals that slip out from time to time) when they did into its Mithraic roots.

The fact remains this pope is not Christian, not catholic and not a climate scientist. I don’t believe a word the fraud pope says.
I believe in God because Jesus rose from the dead: an historically attested, if disputed, event. So, that’s my proof, not some convoluted theory of unmoved first movers, the big bang, etc. The only plausible explanation for that resurrection event is God who raised him up. Simple. Think me a fool if you want.
As to His Holiness, there have been popes in the past who’ve done worse damage. I hold to the Catholic faith. Francis’ pronoucements on matters that having nothing to do with the tenets of the faith are distractions and are to the detriment of the message the Church was charged with spreading (and I do believe this is as attempt at “relevance” that will only further embarrass him amongst the truly devout). As to his trimming on difficult teachings which he has no power to change so as to make palatable, that will do damage; but then the state of the Church is such that the vast majority of Catholics are living far outside the bounds of their confessed beliefs. What I do know is that most faithful mass-goers are growing uncomfortable with this pope. He’s really popular with lapsed Catholics, lapsed Protestants, and the Christmas & Easter variety of Christians. That is, people who have no effin’ idea what they are talking about when they address matters of faith or the nature of Christian doctrine.
Amen. He seems so un- and anti-intelligent compared to Pope John Paul II. I loathe him.
