Bottom Line is there are two main things that frame my attitude towards Naheed Nenshi:
51% increase in Property Tax since his initial election win. 8 years
…and the DEAFENING Silence from the MAYORS OFFICE – August 2014 when an Israeli family had the daylights beaten from them by some HAMAS SCUM – Downtown Calgary….Zero – Nadda – Not a peep. (and if I recall correctly, Not one MSM outlet did either).
The only person who did anything at all was EZRA LEVANT and through Ezra’s actions, charges were finally laid.

Nenshi never would have been elected in the first place had the Wildrose and PC parties not decided to use the Calgary mayoral election as a proxy war. Then, he benefitted from no real competition last election. Now, he’s facing a single, legitimate opponent in Bill Smith. There is a huge anti-Nenshi vote out there but it had no candidate to coalesce around until this election.
Thing is, for as high profile as Nenshi is in the media, he is only one vote on council. You can blame him for a lot of things but there were more than a few other councillors supporting and voting for all the same stuff. There are about 4 or 5 other people on there that need to go for anything to really change.
That should have said ‘race and class conscious card’.

If Nenshi is overthrown by these people then he alone can be blamed for creating such a hateful atmosphere that he drove these bad people together to get rid of him. I lived in Calgary 20 yrs, but thankfully left before all the madness. I remember my property taxes being quite reasonable, but a 51% increase just under Nenshi’s watch alone is extreme and indicates out-of-control spending. I hope you can clear out his enabling Councilors too and wish my friends there the best with their new mayor.

Being freedom oriented and involved in municipal government in a city like Calgary is difficult. You are trying to run a 30,000 employee monstrosity as a starter. You are likely surrounded by Councillors who only know how to say yes to every increased expenditure, labour demand, program, facility, and economic intrusion that comes before you. Campaigning on shrinking all that doesn’t sell well in a community that has until recently (NEP notwithstanding) only known growth. Nenshi seems like one of those charismatic leftists who present themselves as offering their “otherness” as an opportunity for an “enlightened” electorate to virtue signal. What I will not do is ignore a crime or unacceptable political views because someone is of a particular race or ethnic persuasion. In fact, I think to do so insults all members of the group, many of whom are likely reasonable, law abiding people. I think it is important to actually acknowledge high levels of criminal behaviour among certain groups. If you do not, the problems are never fixed. I guess I am a racist. So be it. The designation is so overused, it has lost its impact.
