With respect to CBS, Hayley Geftman-Gold’s truly vicious comment on country fans, the interesting thing to watch is whether she retains her executive position at the network.
A more hate-filled, demented comment is difficult to imagine and it is not even accurate. Present day Country encompasses a pretty wide swath of political persuasion, so maybe even Democrats. But even if true, or mostly true think of her comment juxtaposed with another type of music and its followers; I just cannot.
I don’t know for sure… but there’s distinct possibility there. Have the police opened the giant safe this guy is reported to own? Have they read all his and his wife’s internet history searches?

Unless they can find a motive this looks like an incredibly weird mass murder. He liked country music but then shot country music fans. No history of being an anti-government nutter like in Oklahoma. No apparent political affiliation, Scalise/baseball shooting. No signs of serious metal illness like the Gifford shooter in Arizona or Sandy Hook. ISIS is claiming credit but it sounds opportunistic at this point. He also obviously planned it to maximize casualties with weapons and location so he didn’t just “snap. ISIS is always threatening everyone, everywhere. If he is ISIS inspired then he’d be a very atypical recruit. They usually groom and radicalize young men. Most often immigrants, refugees and 2nd generation young men.
I read the French article. The shooting is very strange. If there’s no link to ISIS, mental illness or politics then the only answer left is a loser seeking infamy. In that case there’d be a self-aggrandizing Manifesto so he could brag, preen, justify, moralize and explain his reasons for murdering innocent people.

This event is curious and I’d put false-flag attack at top of my list which would make the deep state the primary suspect. The audio I heard was sustained periods of regular firing which suggests it was an automatic weapon. Haven’t counted number of shots/burst (I’m sure those details will be available in a few hours) but sounde like more than 30 indicating either he was using a drum magazine or had a belt fed machine gun. Not sure where the video was recorded so may be off on acoustic identification, but didn’t sound like a .223. Will have to wait for information about caliber of projectiles to come up.
In LV one can go to various gun ranges and fire full auto rifles of many different types and that would be one potential source but that would imply a group effort. As is common in many of these events, the presumed perpetrator killed himself before being questioned which greatly simplifies potential problems if one is dealing with a false flag attack.
At this time in the US, given the exposure of the depravity and corruption of the deep state swamp, one has to think false flag before entertaining other possibilities such as the shooter won a lot of money in a private poker match and the loser paid him off with an M60 and lots of ammo. This event will drive dumbocrats into a hoplophobic frenzy although I wouldn’t put it past them to demand a total gun ban and war on Russia if a Russian made AK turns out to be the rifle used by the shooter. Or, they’ll blame the gun industry as the author of this act trying to whip up sales after Trumps election and the loss of the greatest US gun salesman in history – Obozo. We might discover that he used NK manufactered rifles and this might be the deep states Pearl Harbor.
After the WTC attack, I wrote down a lot of curious events and saved web pages expecting this material to be connected to the attacks in the next weeks to months. Most interesting were the reports of the “dancing-Israelis” and the huge number of Israeli “art students” who were actually working for Mossad and were basically spying on the US government. Total silence on this but the impetus behind the “patriot act” and the establishment of an ever encroaching police state in the USSA. Fortunately, on ZH and inforwars the old material is being re-examined and the glaring holes in the official story are being exposed and it looks as if the WTC attack was a false flag operation although unclear who exactly concieved of the attack.
I’m sure that we’ll have politicians all come out and demand that people need to give up more of their freedoms for “security” and more intense surveillance programs will be setup to prevent future attacks (never once thinking that eliminaating the deep state would drastically reduce false flag attacks). The one lone-gunman attack that seems free of any state assistance is that of Brievik in Norway where he documented in great detail how he built his ANFO truck bomb and then proceeded to his actual target after the truck bomb provided the distraction he needed. This took him years to accomplish and, judging from his long manifesto which he posted, he was an intelligent man and somewhat obsessed. When one hears a story that a professional gambler with no significant firearms experience sets himself up in a LV hotel room and unloads hundreds of rounds of full auto fire on a crowd my BS detector starts to go off. Sure, he could have done it but it would require experience and preparation. He does have a father who was on the FBI’s 10 most wanted list which might give him the genetic predisposition but, right now, I’d look at which part of the deep state has the most to gain by such an event. The deep state can’t really crack down on liberties until the get the armed patriots deciding they’ve had enough and really start dealing with antifa and other globalist useful idots who’ve been attempting to provoke the patriots. That’s likely the deep states excuse to declare martial law and crack down.

There are other ways to accomplish the same action, but this is so borderline I am surprised it is still available. It is illegal to alter the weapon to allow a single pull to continuously fire, but this alters the weapon to allow consecutive pulls at a rate not possible without mechanical intervention.

My point was that theorizing and exploring ISIS involvement is not entirely far fetched.

Dwayne, that’s the first time I’ve heard of bump stocks and they’re something which would be impossible to eliminate. Should be adaptable to other semi-auto rifles although I’ve always been much more inclined to emphasize accurate shooting rather than the “spray and pray” approach.
Essentially a bump stock is an oscillating mechanical system which is recoil activated and activates trigger mechanism (my initial impression from the video) although I wonder whether there is any mechanism to change rate of fire. Should be easy to construct the plastic pieces with a 3D printer and have seen 3D printed magazines and other parts for paintball guns.
The paranoid part of me wonders if this is a deep state plot to ban semi-auto rifles given that they can now be easily converted to full auto.

Way back in basic training we fired the FN C1 and FN C2 on the range, as well as the Stirling 9mm Sub Machine gun and the 9 mm Browning pistol. The FN C2 and the 9mm Stirling being fully auto. As well I fired the C7 (our M16 Canadian variant) on the range at full auto. It is an experience, but I know it is good for putting lots of bullets downrange fast but not accurate. That said, 22,000 corralled people at a concert, from 1500 m or so, is just area fire and not precision shooting. The shots sounded fully auto, but that bump stock video sounds just as fully auto to me. And you can see the Slide Fire folks have a number of stocks available for various weapons.
If nothing else, this shooting will bring these devices more out into the open, and I can see them being outlawed. There really is no requirement for this in a civil setting. Police don’t need them either. Even smart military organizations teach fire discipline and controlled bursts vice spray and pray. Some people will not be happy, but I can see this being a thing that many gun enthusiasts could support.
Loki, “bump stocks” are a joke, no credible aiming as muzzle jumps all over, risk of jamming, and you’ll wear out your sear in short order. Faster barrel wear rate for a non-chrome lined barrel.

I have not bee following this story that carefully, but there is something fishy about the whole thing. We heard that he converted to being a Muslim (weeks ago). I think this is nonsense as he does not at all fit the prototype. Also, those are sophisticated weapons. Where did he get them? It would take more than a couple of weeks to learn to use these effectively. Where did he learn to use them. I am curious at this point if we know for sure he is the gunman — or if he is a patsy . . .set up and then killed. I am also curious about whether or not this could be an MKULTRA sponsored attack. Really, the whole thing does not make sense.

I am somewhat skeptical about full-auto being used.
Given the location, and the geometry of the building and its materials, I am guessing that some of the perception of full-auto is based on echoing of the rifles’ report off the sides of the MB hotel.
I haven’t seen a breakdown of injury statistics. It could be that a large number of the injuries are related to people stampeding for the exits as opposed to gunshot wounds. I would think that ten minutes of full auto fire into a large crowd might yield more casualties. This is all speculation, of course.

Of course they are a gimmick Matt. And fully auto, except for a bi-pod or tripod mount, is a waste of ammo. But that said, some guy busting into a room with a full mag (or an oversized mag) and just ripping with one of these will ruin everyone’s day. Or some guy set up in a hotel room overlooking a outdoor concert with 22,000 people or so.
I would not be surprised if this Vegas shooter used one, or had more. I also would not be surprised that he didn’t care about barrel wear or accuracy. And he may have had fully automatic weapons for all I know. What I do know is that the videos that I watched, and listened to, the fire sounded like fully automatic fire.
As you note Dwayne, full auto isn’t that accurate especially when one is standing and holding a rifle. Fast semi-auto fire from my M1A or SKS while standing puts more bullets downrange but fewer holes in targets than careully aimed fire. Haven’t yet had the experience of firing a machinegun, and might shell out money for the experience if ever go to LV again, but for most people there’s little to no benefit in a civilian survivalist scenario. The psychologic effect on bystanders may be greater for full auto but I consider accuracy and conservation of ammo to be much more important.
Matt’s comments about bump stocks are appreciated. Given the cost of ammo nowadays as well as cost of replacing rifle barrells, not something I’d be interested in getting even if it was legal. When I grew up, all the kids I’d gopher hunt with had single shot .22’s. I briefly owned a semi-auto .22 but got rid of it when it did nothing to improve my gopher count (it was fun to shoot) but exchanged it for a nice target bolt action .22 which worked far better. Making every shot count is a far better way of training than throwing large amounts of lead at a target hoping that through chance one will hit it.

“Silencers” are NOT silenced, they are called “suppressors” (sound modifiers) because they help suppress sound (25 – 35dB) in a high velocity rifle. Not silenced, only less loud. Suppressors DO NOT suppress sound much when the projectile is travelling faster than the speed of sound (1125 fps). They need to be sub-sonic to be somewhat sound effective thus reducing the bullets energy transfer, effective range, and usually accuracy.
Waste of time for a Liberal spree killer on a crowd of citizens, it’s why they don’t use them.
Military & police Snipers, some competition shooters, and many varmint hunters do have a use for them.

Not at all difficult to achieve with a good stash of pre-loaded detachable magazines for a semi-auto rifle. Probably the ubiquitous AR-15 in the ubiquitous 5.56mmNATO/223Remington calibre which being low-recoil helps to get the rifle back on target quickly. And shooting from a high vantage point into a tightly packed crowd, more shots would find a person than would slip through to hit the ground. Some rounds would go through a person and continue into another.
(Actually, with a single shot break action rifle I can easily achieve 20 shots a minute well aimed enough for a massed crowd. Talking about reducing the technical capacity of guns available to any potential nut who goes on a spree will get you this question from me: If we could effectively ban guns, how many five year old kids in a kindergarten class killed with a knobbly club or run down by a truck on a crosswalk is going to be o.k. with you, and how aren’t they as dead as the same number of kids shot?)
Further to my last, of course if someone is going to commit mass murder, a smaller number of victims is a desirably lesser evil than a larger number of victims (that’s true also if they only intend to commit a single murder. But rather than a rule that no one can have a gun because someone might use it for murder, I would raise our sights, pun intended, to a society in which nearly everyone can have a gun because they can be relied upon not murder someone with it.

While ISIS claims to attacks may have been credible a year ago, there is no reason to believe that the Resorts World attack or today’s attacks were ISIS or even jihadist.
Right and It is the politicians who divide us with their open door policies and failure to properly screen and keep tabs on who they are letting walk all over us. And ZERO accountability or responsibility expected as in assimilating or getting a job etc. No recourse like these peace bonds they are talking about enabling authorities to kick them out.
An honest question for you Gun experts … I have always heard and/or just assumed that “silencers” diminish bullet accuracy. Is that a mistaken notion? It seems to me that some of the muzzle discharge is redirected in a way that would/could alter the flight of the bullet.

During a sound recognition night exercise at Petawawa in the late 60s I was involved in a couple of fellows inserted a paper match stick behind the sear pin and this made the C1 fully automatic. The instructors came running and deep sh*t occurred for the guilty parties. Apparently the barrel could not withstand this abuse.
Funny thing about this talk about fire arms control and legislation, prior to the Fifties and Sixties in Canada there was very little gun legislation and I would venture a guess that better than 50% of Canadian households had free access to a gun. The statistics for gun related crime was considerably less than what it is today. So what changed other than the Liberal immigration plan.
Couple of gun points to fill in comments above:
– Suppressors don’t silence. They muffle. They usually bring a rifle down just to where you can use it without ear protection and not blow out your eardrums. I have shot suppressed ARs and AKs and ended up with ringing ears.
– Bump stocks rely on the recoil of a shot driving the mass of the rifle backwards into the spring-loaded shoulder rest. As the rifle is going backwards, the trigger finger stays stationary. The stock spring then pops the rifle forward, which pushes the trigger against the trigger finger. Bump stocks cause a cycling rate that is dependent upon the mass of the gun and the strength of the stock spring. It is generally slower than true automatic fire. The firing rate I heard on several videos is NOT indicative of a bump stock. These were true automatic weapons.
– This guy somehow got over 100 pounds of ammunition up to his room, along with seven or eight long rifles. Quite a few trips, distinctive long luggage. My Inner Paranoic questions the “one guy” narrative.
