  1. Goes to show how little difference there is between political parties in Canada. A conservative is a liberal is an ndp…..and so on down the line.
Ideology is meaningless -power is all that matters.

  2. By accepting the job as speaker the jackass has effectively allowed the communists a blank cheque. They couldn’t have passed anything without opposition approval. Voting in the legislature would have been a draw. Nothing wrong with that. Now the communists are going to have 4 or 5 years of government because jackass doesn’t want an election because he will lose hard. Everyone hates a traitor, even the commies.

  3. scar;
A progressive imbedded in a rabidly progressive party. I guess the Libels could bribe him back with a post political plum job. The irony of all this cannot fail to register with some.
In early Reform the members were far more attuned to a philosophy. As the Party became more popular and were winning seats there was another wave of candidates and members who were far less inclined who joined. When conservative parties opened their membership to ‘overnight members’ who joined for the sake of a leadership ballot the dye was cast.

  5. Not hard to tell what his motivation was: Money and power. To Hell with his constituents. The guy makes me want to puke. Precisely why we should have recall legislation. Wait, don’t they have that in BC?
    Captcha: ROUTE premier lol

  6. And Comrade Horgan called his move “honourable”. Orwell would be proud.
I expect similar regressive policies like their Alberta brethren, save the pipeline hypocrisy.
    Massive social spending
    Massive education spending.
    Regressive environmental regulations.
    Tax increases.
    Massive budget deficits.
Blame the other guys when promises are broken (Site C, ICBC, etc)
Plecas should be drawn and quartered. What a lying sack of hypocritical sht!

  7. When I read the outrage over Plecas taking the Speaker’s job,I had to LOL!
Traitor! Scoundrel! Blackguard, well no one used that archaic term, but they meant worse.
Plecas showed the true colors of the average politician, looking out for number one. His salary as Speaker gives him a raise of $52,940 over and above his regular MLA’s salary of about $105,000. Add to that the increase in his lovely pension, and Darryl has done well for himself. Way to go,you wonderful caring whore!
You ARE one of the “Best and Brightest”,Darryl, and the fact the Province will go completely bankrupt won’t affect you one little bit, will it? The only turd in the punch bowl may be in the next election, when I have no doubt the voters of Abbotsford will relegate this guy to a third or fourth place finish.Maybe he;ll get lucky though, and an NDP stalwart will retire or die and Darryl can run in his place.
Over at the Tyee, they’re singing Plecas praises, and Andrew Weaver waxed eloquently as he spoke of Plecas honesty and integrity, and all the other buzzwords politicians use when it’s convenient.
We are in good shape in B.C.,and the new NDP government has shown it’s integrity and caring for the Little Guy by eliminating bridge tolls to NDP Ridings, increasing ICBC rates, shutting down any thought of Site C completion, LNG,oil pipelines, and soon to follow, the thundering of mining companies stampeding out of the Province.
Soon,I expect they’ll stop allowing the export of raw logs, which will kill off the Asian market entirely, so we’ll be in great shape, with tourism and Green Jobs our main industries. I may re enter the work force as a Windmill Technician 1, with membership in the BCGEU and a salary of $65,000 a year.
Windmill technicians are the cutting edge of the new green technology movement that is taking over the planet. It is not a low skill job, a WMT 1 has to inspect the mills, and if they’re NOT spinning, report to H/Q. If they ARE spinning, the WMT1 doesn’t have to say anything.
It’s tough work, the pay is lousy, but someone hasta do it.

  8. Rabidly conservative Party? Surely,CT,you jest! I will assume vicious sarcasm.
The Party that initiated triple P power partnerships that forced BC Hydro to sign long term contracts for three times the going rate for electricity, the Party that initiated the FIRST carbon tax in North America?
    THAT conservative Party?
The B.C. Libs may have a few old Socreds and Conservatives in the ranks, but that changed quickly when Gordon Campbell took over and we’ve had Liberal Liberal style politics ever since.
The only reason to vote for these bastards is they are less worse than the NDP. Think Stalin versus Hitler, Romney versus McCain, Mulroney versus Kim Campbell, Obama versus Clinton(Hill not Bill), Douglas versus Romanow,Wynne versus McGuinty…….

  9. “…power is all that matters.”
    Amen.
Politics: the acquisition and retention of power. As practiced in rodent colonies the world over.

  10. Well, not as many tax hikes as expected. More spending, as expected. All the proper virtue signalling greenie crap as expected. The Carbon Tax going up to $50 per tonne from $30 per tonne over the next 4 years will do nothing to save the planet, but removing all restraints on it will allow them to just move it to general revenue and then it will never go away because no one will be able to cut spending enough to not need the revenue.
I see the teacher union got their payout in an expected 3500 more teachers. I think that would increases the union coffers quite nicely.
And since they are only raising taxes on the people who make over $150,000… well that’s great, stick it to them rich folks, eh? Right up until their tax accountants find a way to bury enough income to bring that back down so they get less. I think I saw something about raising corporate taxes but the news bit I found didn’t have great detail on that.
I will hunt through the press release crap for actual departmental spending and revenue numbers though. They make them harder to find every year. Can’t have normal tax payers seeing real bottom line numbers without them hunting for an hour, or until they give up I guess.

  11. From a column in today’s Vancouver Province by Dermod Travis the BC Ministry of Natural Gas Development uses Candlelight Catering. Make of that what you will but get used to it.

  12. Besides the SJW agenda and slightly higher tax rates I don’t think we’ll notice any difference between these two governments honestly. Which is why the liberals lost btw.

  13. Having met most of the previous Liberal cabinet over the years and generally disliking most, they are an easy lot to see put out of power. The problem is they have been replaced by people far worse. Horgan and Weaver are real easy people to dislike. They both come from a fake city where they think that the economy runs on recycled government cheques. Horgan is a classic dour-faced socialist union sock-puppet and Weaver, a zealous climate Imam who looks like he would unhesitatingly fire up the ovens for those who have opposing views on the environment. As for Plecas, anyone packing a Bible will beat him in the next election in that riding.

  14. Plecas will face Recall in his riding. Unfortunately, a couple years gave to by first. What he has done is as bad as crossing the floor. True, the Libs had run their course, and never liked CC, but she ran a brand campaign, just like PMSH, and didn’t offer anything to the LIVs, who want cheap daycare, 400 rental gifts, more welfare and free bus passes. The rest of are supposed to shut up and take it.
It’s the 1990s all over again, the ENDPee just used up $2.5 Billion of the surplus in new spending, for only 6 months of the budget year.
I would still like to know how raising ICBC rates and raising the carbon tax makes “life more affordable”. I guess I don’t speak socialist…..

  15. Dear Bank of Canada: raise those rates higher and faster please.
“They both come from a fake city ”
    What? What ‘fake city’?

  16. Sad to admit Plecas is my MPP.Can’t wait to turf the scumbag.Expect massive increases in Public Sector Union Pay,big tax increases, huge deficits credit rating downgrades.heidehorst

  17. Well, not as many tax hikes as expected. More spending, as expected.
The tax hikes will be coming in the next few years, just as in the 1990s. You might say the NDP isn’t a classic tax-and-spend party; they’re more like spend-and-tax.

  18. The NDP in his riding only received 28% of the vote. Start the recall today. That way it might be done in time to save the province although 2 years with the Marxists is like 10 years with the Liberals.

  19. Yeah,I figured you were being sarcastic, sometimes it’s hard to tell with someone you don’t know.
The past B.C. election was one in which I,probably like you, had no favorites, just the lesser of two evils, and it’s been that way since Gordon Campbell first won the election then proceeded to act like a socialist.
The new budget was enough to make a reasonable person weep, typical NDP boilerplate, with nary an idea of where the money will come from. I was slightly surprised when they dropped their $10/day daycare “promise”, but I guess even Dippers aren’t stupid enough to believe we can afford that.
So,sit back and enjoy watching the big resource industries relocate, just as they did in the 1990’s,and watch the rates of everything creep upward. To the tune of that old Jolson favorite, let’s all sing together,”Venezuela here I come….”
