I don’t think that means what you think it does.

Must be one of those newly defined words the kids are using on Instagram. Immigration Minister denies that Canada was unprepared for surge of asylum seekers
Umm, you’re keeping them in Montreal’s Olympic Stadium. You had to bring in the military to create impromptu processing stations. You have the RCMP helping them carry their bags. You’re now sending envoys to Little Haiti to explain that, Liberal seats in Quebec are being put at risk and to try crossing in Manitoba.
“Prepared” is not a word I’d use.

  1. I can translate the Gummintese for you – happy to help!
“Prepared” – means – “Not our fault”.

  2. For every welfare seeking illegal, you have a small village of relatives to follow.
Free housing and heart surgery’s for the worlds illiterate deadbeats, paid with your tax’s that are taken on threat of incarceration by force of gunpoint as necessary.

  3. Politicians always want us to think they’re somehow on top of everything, you know, “smooth sailing – steady as she goes”.
It’s an inherent deceit/conceit of the political class who don’t really know any better than anyone else what the future holds or what’s going to come flying at us next.

  4. Not prepared? Evidently the federal government has forgotten history.
After WW II, Canada received a steady stream of immigrants from Europe. The country needed skilled workers and people came to pursue opportunities that weren’t available in their respective homelands.
When my mother and I came over, there was a system in place by which the government could quickly and easily process us. If I correctly remember what she told me, it didn’t take long for us to have all the documents in order to travel across the country to join my father.

  5. This reminiscent of Allan Rock’s claim of the Chretien liberal gun registry only costing 2 million.
    But I digress.
This term “irregular crossing” seems like a half arsed attempt at hidding the fact these entrants are gaining an advantage as they illegally enter the country without any repercussions.
    Justin owns this.

  6. Deny and lie, lie and deny. Its all the same thing to a Liberal. They can never be held responsible for their actions its always some friggin boogey man, its always someone else’s fault.

  7. Let’s take their word for it and conclude that they actually planned an influx of illegal migrants. To me the intentional European-style planned influx of illegal migrants which makes a mockery of our immigration/refugee system and places huge burdens on taxpayers in the present and near future is a thousand time worse than just being stupid or incompetent. The latter are almost excusable. The former not so much.

  8. Apparently Cornwall City Council has rejected the idea of free bus passes for the “asylum seekers.”
I have an idea. Give them bus passes to beautiful Meaford, Ontario and surrounding area, just set to get into their apple picking season.
Workers come from exotic places like Jamaica for this “gala” event, with local merchants eager to fulfill their every annual shopping spree wish.
Come to think of it, Meaford is home to a military base, complete with tentage and security.
Plus, the government’s own job website has generously provided links to get right on filling those apple baskets.

Don’t you love it when a plan comes together? What an “investment” our PM has made by not stopping illegal migrants at the border.

  9. Why doesn’t the government seek out those counseling the illegal immigrants in the US, collect evidence, have them extradited and sentenced to 10 years in jail? Why isn’t every entrant charged with illegal entry? Why is it okay for police to ignore laws set by Parliament? Is this an RCMP coup d’etat?

  10. can I illegally enter the USA for a Trump rally?
where’s “the world’s best politician”, not welcoming these Irregulars in person?

  11. Some questions need to be asked:
The Haitian “asylum seekers” spent 7 years living safely in the US. Now they’re apparently in mortal danger, that’s why they’re fleeing to Canada. A few questions need to be asked:
    1. What mortal danger are the border crossers actually facing, that they need to rush to Canada’s borders? They lived in the US for 7 years in relative safety, since the 2010 Haiti earthquake. A clearer definition of what ‘refugee status’ really means is needed.
    2. Also, what has happened to the millions upon billions of dollars donated for the purpose of reconstructing Haiti? Where has the money gone? How much of it has actually been spent in rebuilding Haiti? Maybe that’s why the migrants are so fearful of returning to their homeland. Given the choice of living in a peaceful prosperous country versus returning to a country still in shambles, what would most of us choose? However, that does not excuse wanting to jump the queue of legitimate refugees and/or immigrants.
    3. Canada and the US, among other countries, have contributed a lot of money to rebuild Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake.
    http://www.lessonsfromhaiti.org/lessons-from-haiti/key-statistics/
“1. Aid to Haiti after the January 12, 2010 earthquake
    a. Summary of aid to Haiti from 2010-2012
According to data collected by the Office of the Special Envoy for Haiti, multilaterals and bilaterals have allocated $13.34 billion to relief and recovery efforts in Haiti for 2010-2020. Of this $13.34 billion, an estimated 48.2 percent ($6.43 billion) has been disbursed.
An additional $3.06 billion (estimated) was contributed to UN agencies and NGOs by private donors (foundations, companies, individuals).
The total funding disbursed by the bilaterals and multilaterals ($6.43 billion) and resources contributed to the NGO community ($3.06 billion) is $9.49 billion. This $9.49 billion in aid was three times the revenue of the Government of Haiti ($3.17 billion) between 2010 and 2012.”
♫ Where has all that money gone? … Long time passing ♫
    4. Apparently, some of that funding has been”repurposed”. A commenter at Jack’s Newswatch posted this link about 10 days ago:

Maybe Ralph Goodale, who’s quite loquacious when interviewed, could elucidate.

  12. Hey Canada ! Down here in the States we have millions of Obama’s “dreamers” (many with neck and face tattoos) … who, will soon be looking for a new country to “dream of”. I suggest you OPEN your Southern border (as Obama opened ours) to let their northern migration continue. Thank you, Wee-Trudeau for “accommodating” them.

  13. Can someone explain why the National Post chain has chosen to report nothing on this invasion?
Other questions I would also want to know the answers to are:
    – Seven thousand people (and counting) do not congregate (complete with luggage and household effects) without some sort of organization and logistics. Who and or what organizations are lurking in the background? Clearly this crowd has an organized “receptions” lobby working for them; who is working the “dispatching”?
    – Is there any increase in parallel traffic anywhere else along the border, in particular the more sinister pay-to-play crossings along the border around Cornwall and elsewhere that official blind eyes are turned?
    – The government seems to have organized all sorts of committees to look after the invaders. Is anyone answering questions asked on behalf of those who are paying for all this, and will have to live with its aftermath?
    – What is the state of discussions with the US government on this issue? Leaving the US as foreign national is as much of an issue there as entering Canada is (or should be). Where is US Homeland Security and what do they say about their sudden slackening of the usual rules in this instance? Has Mr Trudeau, or Ms Freeland, or any of the other supposedly well-connected operatives in the PMO and/or cabinet been in touch with their US counterparts? If so, what ensued? If not, why?
    – Has anyone suggested building a wall? This is sarcasm, as I note that Mr Trump didn’t even have to build a wall to cut illegal immigration by almost 90%; just actually enforcing the laws of his country did that.

  14. So there are as a result a gaggle of liberal MP’s headed to Miami to “consult” With Hatian community….
How do I not get cynical at this point?
Consultation with the Haitian disporia by liberal MP’s will no doubt include dire warnings to the Haitian community that while there are “rules” (nudge and a wink) that should be observed, should another party form government after the next election the liberals wouldn’t be able to protect the “irregular” migrants from a Trump like government.

  15. My wife has a Russian friend who wanted to show at the Calgary and Edmonton dog shows. She has shown her dog in about 20 countries, most recently in the US a few months ago. We suspect they are impressably wealthy. She was turned down for a visa. Obviously the wrong colour.

  16. “Can someone explain why the National Post chain has chosen to report nothing on this invasion?”
National Post has moved mostly into the center-left progressive side.

  17. “Maybe Ralph Goodale, who’s quite loquacious when interviewed, could elucidate.”
Yes, but notice how even though he can talk up a storm, he never actually says anything.
(He probably learned all he knew from that great Liberal master of the empty phrase: Jean Chrétien.)

  18. “The total funding disbursed by the bilaterals and multilaterals ($6.43 billion) and resources contributed to the NGO community ($3.06 billion) is $9.49 billion.”
With that $9.49 billion, you could have simply given every Haitian $875; a family of five would have received about $4,375.
I’ll bet that would have helped them more than endless “development and peace projects”!

  19. “He probably learned all he knew from that great Liberal master of the empty phrase: Jean Chrétien.”
Na, Ralph knew how to be loquacious in a BS way already in the early 1980s when our local rail retention committee with him. He was just fantastically verbose during our discussions and then while driving home we discussed what Ralph had actually said and realized that it was nothing. Perfect Liberal politician.

  20. Tent cities in Canada. Who’da thunk it?
It’s 100% bongo’s fault. In an attempt to embarass Trump he invited all comers with his tweets.
He was unable to provide an explanation for the situation the country finds itself in. The libranos didn’t see this coming and have no clue how to respond.

  21. From what I gather, even various do-gooders of a liberal stripe who have funds available and names of refugees provided are being frustrated by the slow pace of arrival of their appointed recipients of charity. That part makes no sense at all, the apartments and the support networks are in place but no refugees in some cases. I guess the gov’t became afraid they would invite in one trouble-making bad example and get shafted for their re-election plans.
As usual, a few bad apples spoiling a larger batch, and probably the innocent suffer while the guilty walk in quite easily and disperse before anyone can verify.
And we need to unerstand that our stupid foreign policies (in all the western countries) from about 2007 to 2015 caused this mess, not the refugees so much, can’t blame them for trying to escape dysfunctional failed states. It was more our fault than some are willing to accept. There was never much need to interfere in Libya, Egypt or even Syria. Assad is hardly the worst option and that’s becoming more obvious with the passage of time. Maybe Putin is just smarter than our leaders, and that smarts in the Swamp, explaining the manic pursuit of old Russian ghosts that were a lot easier to see forty or fifty years ago.
