May I reciprocate by recommending a 1986 A&E TV 10 part series called Shaka Zulu starring the incomparable Henry Cele and Edward Fox. While it is a dramatization it is historically accurate enough to satisfy. Cele’s portrayal of Shaka is not to be missed.
Interesting history.
The Brits by the time the Zulu wars came around were equipped with Martini-Henry breech loading firearms. Far superior to the muzzle loaders they replaced the MH was effective at great range and it is reported that shooting started at 600 yards. The Zulu’s were alarmed that a single shot could penetrate and kill 2 soldiers.
The Zulu’s though still pulled off significant military victories using spears swords and superior tactics.
