Again, I love it when leftists suffer at their own hand.
In this case the New York Times.

The comments below the piece at zero hedge about sum up how everyone feels. Definitely no readers there oh and a priceless bit of advice from at least one.
“Cut costs?
Would not their own Paul Krugman recommend that they borrow more, and add staff, in order to stimulate the NY economy?
How can they be going broke with a Nobel Prize winning economist on staff?
They just need to follow Krugman’s Five-Year Plan.”
Perfect response.
I feel for them.
I’m trying – ball up my fists, squeeze shut my eyes, clench my teeth, and dredge up every ounce of empathy I can muster.
Here goes…………………………………
Nah.
Sorry.
I got nothing.
Good riddance, failing NYT.
The NYT’s should simply initiate the SAME economic “plan” they constantly THRUST at the American People. 1. Collect ALL the income generated by the Paper. 2. Add-up EVERY one of the NYT’s employees. 3. Divide the total income by the total number of employees, and THAT is the amount of EACH employees paycheck. No exceptions. Nobody “makes” any more $$$$ than anyone else. People are all “equal”, so WHY should ONE receive more $$$$ than another ?
So “The failing new york times”-Donald J Trump is actually failing like Trump said it was on live Tv several times after publishing hit pieces on Trump times and times again lol. So now after broadcasting its demise its finally in its death throws who woulda thunk. Lol in my fantacy world im saying Trump put the final nail in their coffin. Good bye and good ridence. NEXT!!
Why has their stock gone up 19%? Perhaps their online edition is doing better.
Btw,if the NY Times paper edition goes out of print it will save enough trees to cover all of Europe, except Hungary and Poland. Said trees,if laid end to end, would reach from Earth to Mars, although it’s hard to determine the sense of doing that.
So, when a newspaper goes broke,it is a massive help to saving the planet, more than if every one of us rednecks here turned in our pickups for them little eeelectric cars.
Die you bastards, save the planet.
Maybe the NYT could report the news as fairly as possible, build the op-ed pages with well-written opinion pieces from different points of view, report sports without politics, print some funny comics, include recipes, respect its readers – you know, like a real newspaper, not like a community college weekly written by cliché-sodden sophomores.
Wow, dinosaurs’ death throes sure seem to go on forever.
Thanks CNN, for seriously increasing the pace of your fake news industry’s extinction.
Ah, No. The Times used only 104,000 metric tons of newsprint last year. It takes 3 tonnes of wood to make 1 tonne of newsprint. That makes 312,000 tonnes of wood. A cubic metre of wood is roughly 1 tonne. France alone grows 75 million cubic metres annually. The NYT used the equivalent of 0.4% of France’s yield. In doing so however, The N.Y.Times did manage to take a useful product and make it into birdcage liner. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/23/insider/2007-honey-i-shrunk-the-times.html
JC,I made those figures up out of thin air, just as the msm often does. But you’ve convinced me,they don’t use many planet saving trees,so the Federal Government should give them an auto industry sized bailout,say,$150 million for starters.
Gotta save that icon.
let me suggest part of the problem. from the link:
“Cutting us down to 50 to 55 editors from more than 100″
hmmm. ‘to 50 to 55’. ? wtf?
read it 3 times. then I ‘got it’. IOW, a BETTER way to phrase this may have been ‘ cutting us down to BETWEEN 50 and 55 editors from 100’
but the writers at nyt use a hack high school level of grammar and composition. not good in a field focused on COMMUUUUUNICATION.
IMHO.
they did it to themselves. they all did it to themselves. ‘short term gain long term pain’ thing. catering to the quarterly stock price instead of the long term existence of the firm. gee, has that happened before? like maybe the n american auto industry?
