In 1972, some employees of President Nixon’s re-election committee were caught when they broke into the Democratic National Committee headquarters to plant a bug. This led to Nixon’s resignation and probably would have led to his felony prosecution had he not been pardoned by his successor, Gerald Ford.
But if a single bugging of the political opposition is enough to bring down a presidency — and maybe lead to an unprecedented criminal prosecution of a former president — then what are we to make of the recently unveiled Obama administration program of massively spying on political opponents in violation of clearly established law?
Because that’s what was unveiled last week.
Makes the KGB and Stasi look like amateur hour…

I doubt anything will be made of it as the media was after Nixon and the same media will cover Obama’s a**.
Probably the greatest myth in US politics is that the press was instrumental in bringing down the Nixon admin. That this myth was created and persists is hardly surprising – the media and Hollywood love it.
The fact is that the wheels of policing and justice started to roll the minute the security guard found tape on the parking lot door lock and they didn’t stop until Gerry called them off. The media neither accelerated or slowed the process – none of the facts and hints brought forward by Felt were unknown by prosecutors. And the key piece of evidence that was revealed in public – that there were tapes – was done by a congressional hearing – part of the justice/constitutional process.
Some talk show host out of Philly was making a point yesterday about the most recent fevered “revelation” – that Kushner was trying to (or had) set up “back channel” communications with the Russkies in the transition period. The host said – hey wait a minute – I thought those “back channel communications” were already well in place. You know – because Vlad helped DJT hack the election and stuff. Couldn’t Kushner have just gotten Vlad’s number from his father-in-law?
Its no problem. Kushner was simply showing flexibility after the election.

That is why every couple days the main stream media – lying trough their teeth – come up with another fake news scandal on President Trump; to divert attention away from all the crimes the democrats have committed.
The democrats and their accomplice – the main stream media – are desperate to divert attention away from their numerous crimes…some milder such as spying and some very serious as having Seth Rich murdered for having transfered 40,000 DNC emails to Wikileaks.
Hillary, Obama and a few others should be in jail. They are criminals.
Many journalists should also be at minimum fired or better yet in jail for hiding the crimes of known criminals.
Kushner probably didn’t like the NSA/CIA/FBI releasing Republican conversations with Russians on the front page of the Washington Post. He just wanted a more secure line of communication.
Why you read so many lies about Nixon is that people today simply can’t fathom how he was in so much trouble for not actually doing anything. The one and only thing he was ever accused of was after he found out who did what when, he didn’t call the cops. To you and me, this is not considered a crime. Republicans should have supported Nixon at the time. Sometimes they have backbone failure.

Much of the time, democracy is confused with automatic good will of the rulers.
You see, democracy works on the assumption that those that are voted in are decent people and those put the well being of the country ahead of their self interests.
As the civilization rooted in the European tradition honed over centuries is in constantly steeper decline, there is zero evidence that the politicians are interested in anything else than power, as some headshrinkers posit, and self aggrandizement.
As you may have noticed they love and love to be on the TeeVee. They may be on to something though, since the masses don’t have time to delve into the details, having other, more unimportant things to do like get up every morning and go to work to make a living, take care of the family and to get money for the taxes that the bottom feeders politicians then confiscate with great zeal for their enjoyment all the while telling the masses that its good for them.
You may have noticed how the commentator that they call “democratic” strategists argue with the most bizarre positions.
There is this gun Carson, he brings out of these people the most stupid comments, of course the interesting thing is that those people went to school for a long time and learned nothing but rhetoric. The problem is that they did not learn anything else, like logic, math seems to be the most difficult for them.
Some wise guy in the past said that democracy in the long run inevitably self-destruct not because it is a bad idea, it needs decent people, people that know history for this particular purpose, people that look after themselves, their families, their towns and their countries pretty much in that order. Once that breaks down there is a mayhem coming.
It used to be in a democracy that the people who ran for public office had already established a reputation for themselves by raising a family and establishing themselves as a pillar of society. They had worked hard over a period of thirty years or so and had contributed to built a society that they believed was an example to all. Once established they went into politics as a means to expand the success they had achieved in their lifestyle and to spread that example to others by public service. That was then, now not so much. Today most politicians have never established a reputation of creating a lifestyle on their own that could be emulated by the majority of the populations they want to dictate to. Can you imagine Hancock, Franklin, Lincoln, Disraeli, Pitt, Churchill, MacDonald, or Laurier having to deal with the likes of Obama or Trudeau the Jr. The Founding Fathers in America, the Statesmen of Britain and the Fathers of Confederation must surely be laughing hysterically at what their dreams have become under the bumpkins that we have elected to govern us today. A community organizer and a part-time drama teacher are only the tip of the iceberg. The Tweedledumb and Tweedledee coalition of Dion and Layton is now being replayed with the Dumb and Dumber coalition of Horgan and Weaver on the West Coast. Instead of strong feminine leaders of the likes of Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir, and Margaret Thatcher we have Kathleen Wynne, Rachel Notley, and Christy Clark. It would surely be an epic pantomime if we were not in such dire straights. Politicians that lie, spy, coerce, dictate, and force their will on the populace that elected them in good faith should be reminded in the strongest possible terms that the Peasants Revolt, the American and French Revolutions were the outcomes of attitudes that once reflected the same political attitudes of today.
Hopefully the queasy stomachs of the Elder Baby Boomer bunches of The ‘We Generation” will finally grow-up or grow a pair” and start the necessary Treason Investigations.
I d not have Grandchildren and Our Children are & will hopefully move through the Damage The irresponsible American Academic and Political Class have done to the “Great Experiment”.

Obama simply ‘weaponized’ the US Government against his enemies. He seized the power of the president because he was presented as a clean-cut, well (TelePrompter) spoken, black man.
