Yes, it’s early, but, uhh, Mercedes? In case you’re missing it, you’re losing.

More sports contests between millionaires, yawn….
Why not? Counting or, in some cases, weighing one’s money all the time can become rather tedious. Gazillionaires need to have fun once in a while, too, you know.
I can understand why the gazillionaires have gained so much distain. Because, after all, they have only contributed tire, suspension, engine, safety, aerodynamic, etc. technologies to us. They have done nothing about fry grease technology.

For sure, nothing wrong with that. However no motorsport beats yacht racing for skill, teamwork, strategy, and racing in adversarial conditions. It’s not just go-fast round and round. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yacht_racing
It appears that you haven’t grasped the concept of sarcasm.
Much of what you described was studied and developed by people who weren’t filthy rich. Many were people who tinkered with those ideas and built the machines to try them out in their own garages.
Having a lot of money can make things easier to accomplish but it won’t make people smarter or more talented.
Ferrari are the Liberals of F1, meaning, they are the self-appointed gods of F1.
If you don’t believe me, just look at what they did to Michael Schumacher. One of the most talented and consistent drivers I have ever witnessed, yet he still resorted to cheating to win for them.
BTW, I gave up on F! years ago when they replaced the thrill of on track passing with the thrill of monitoring 1,000’s of a second per lap.
I’ve raced both yachts and cars for many years, and cars are FAR more challenging.
The problem with the latest batch of wealthy gazillionaires (Gates etc.) and their Hollywood floosie, is that they lecture us, the great unwashed, on how to live poorly.
F1 has completely gone down the tubes.
Wake me up when fueling pit stops, third cars and V-10’s and 12’s are allowed again.
And when they stop this “green” madness with these idiotic “power units”.
Well, there were one or two intelligent comments in the thread so that’s good. Eye roll.
To bad yours isn’t one of them.
A little tough to read between the lines am I? I meant you ‘ural’ as one of the intelligent comments – probably the most intelligent and informed of the lot. Auto racing in general and F1 in particular have given us more technological breakthroughs and improvements to safety, efficiency and reliability than any manufacturer could have done off the race track. Be nice.
Sorry. One of my many character faults, my shrink tells me, is that I don’t handle compliments well.
My shrink, the bitch, is always telling me to be nicer. She also told me to be less sexist because I told her she has nice tits. Go figure.
Well, as long as she has nice tits then it’s ok to be nice and tell her so. JMHO. 🙂
