O’Leary skips again.

After initially agreeing to attend the Saturday debate in Toronto, he bailed. That would make his attendance record ‘zero’. That should also be the votes he gets.

  1. Yeah, it should, however it’s making him increasingly popular in comments on articles concerned with the leadership race. He’s gaining a following of conservatives who couldn’t care less about the issues, but like his attitude of refusing to play by the rules. It seems to be a Trump/Maverick effect. It’s not clear however if these people are party members and qualified to vote in the leadership race.

  2. Kellie Leitch is a fake. She has never previously indicated any concern about these issues she now claims.
Don’t be put of by Bernier’s Frenchiness; he is not Laurentian ELite stuff. He will be a strong candidate against P’ti P’tat.

  3. I don’t like the guy, they say he is the Canadian Trump, but nothing could be further from the truth, in fact he is the opposite. He is all for immigration and Free trade, something that Trump was against. This guy is a globalist, pushing the corporate agenda. We need to vote against the NWO shills of the world, and not for them.

  4. Kevin No Show…. won’t affect him one bit…The debates are a small part of the campaign, much ado about nothing much. I bet a lot of those watching the debates don’t even have a clue about what each candidate stands for beyond the news headlines. Looking at Wynne in Ontario, Notley in Alberta and Trudeau it’s hard to figure or predict.

  5. I can think of no question facing the Conservative Party for which Kevin O’Leary would be the answer.

  6. I like Bernier, but I think you are being totally unfair to Kellie Leitch. She is being vilified for taking a strong position on a timely issue. I believe the values test she proposes is simply an interview. That’s reasonable. Her views are shared by many. It is unfortunate that she is mindlessly attacked by those offering no solutions to Islamic radicals, rather than her views providing a context for serious discussion.

  7. I’ve been intellectually lazy regarding the CPC leadership. The only name I hear is Kevin O’Leary, but I wouldn’t vote for him. Hopefully there is someone better in the pipe because right now it looks to me like Juthin True-D’oh will easily win re-election.

  8. Kevin O’Leary is a Liberal businessman and a TV talking head. None of that qualifies him for the CPC leadership. But, as he hopes, he might get it on name recognition alone.
I’d pay less attention to politicians and more to turning the culture, at this point. The number of Canadians sitting in their poverty and saying “at least we don’t have Trump!” is large. Ontario is filled with idiots who hate Trump, hate the Americans generally, and think Free Healthcare is the answer to everything. You talk to almost anybody, that’s what you’ll hear.
If you want to be free, that is where you need to start your work. If you want to remain a slave in a Fascist nation, worry about who the leader of the fracking CPC is.

  9. I haven’t been following the Conservative leadership whatsit at all. Let me know when they finally pick someone… or whatever.

  10. I was obliged to watch a few episodes of Dragon’s Den when my last girlfriend was alive. I remember that Kevin O’Leary can’t handle people disagreeing with him.

  11. The last national political poll had the conservatives ahead of the Liberals. Despite the medias claims of massive defeat and need to “rethink its appeal”, 30% popularity is a solid base of support.
Spud has been what we predicted, an effete, flippant, spineless, reckless leader, whose broken promises have been plenty. His automatic re-election is not a given.
His JV team have been marred by bozo eruptions and incompetent moves.
All this without a leader of the CPC. Like it or not, the new leader has to be fluent en francais. It has to be someone that can skewer Spud in both tongues, constantly and always. Something Harper did not do often enough.
Spud is an easy target, he’s a target rich environment. Let the next leader be a true sniper

  12. Canada is going the same way as th EU. We are a stupidly left wing country and that means we will not survive in the long term as a free prosperous nation. We will either become a police state to try to control muzzles or we will become an Islamic state.
Meanwhile, too many are too naive and dull-witted to fully grasp the threat we are under from the savages of Islam.
Further … There is no climate catastrophe… It’s fake fright to get the money and the control PERIOD. although the there are many true believers aka dumb-shits … But useful idiots.. How’s your electric bill these days?
Lastly, no decent human with integrity would consider tossing their hat in the leadership snake pit. That is a place for narcissists, liars and socialists …. Real people don’t like to waste their lives in a government cubicle or even high office … So we are led by the scum of Canada. … Certainly the current regime is that.

  13. Nevermind all his other shortcomings; he has to at least show up to be a candidate in my books. His entire foray into this leadership race reeks more and more of a PR stunt to further his business interests.
    Warren

  14. Kellie Leitch is being railroaded by the usual bevy of Red Tories, Liberals and media.
They’re too stupid to realize the sea change happening worldwide. Brexit, Trump, La Pen and on and on.
She may very well win even though all ‘experts’ assure us she has no chance. That sounds familiar doesn’t it? A strong unapologetic conservative is needed and wanted. As usual, most here believe the lies they are fed by the same people who have done nothing but lie to them in the past. Kevin O’Leary would be the Liberal’s wet dream of a candidate. Watch those who they tell you have no chance, they’re the ones the left are afraid of.

  15. Before everyone here goes off the rails over the CPC leadership race perhaps you should do some research on-line and forget what the MSM is telling you about some of the candidates. Mark Steyn has conducted some interviews that are worth listening to, here is the one with Kellie Leitch.

For the rest of you not interested in the direction the country is taking keep voting Liberal after all they’ve been lying to you since WWII so why would they change now.

  16. BC: “It would seem he is all hat and no cattle.”
Good one, haven’t heard that saying before.

  17. I’m handicapping the CPC Leadership the same as I did the US Elections.
Kellie Leitch is speaking to a very silent but I hope powerful enough to hand her the leadership. Don’t count out the silent majority. Look what happened south of us in November.

  18. “Kevin O’Leary is a Liberal businessman and a TV talking head. None of that qualifies him for the CPC leadership. But, as he hopes, he might get it on name recognition alone.

Best comment on Canadian Politics Today in a long time.

  19. If I had to place a bet, I would think it is going to be O’Toole or Scheer on about the fifth ballot.
I also expect low turnout partly because of the complexity of voting, and a larger-than-usual number of “spoiled” ballots as the counters try to determine what is an acceptable photocopy of your drivers’ license that you have to include with your ballot. The result of that is going to be a bunch of sore-loser-itis from the losing camps, which will inhibit party unity and hurt the CPC’s chances to focus on unseating the Liberals.

  20. I don’t disagree with you Lindal. I just don’t see her meaning it.

  21. so far the only one who even remotely sounds like conservative is Bernier.

  22. O-Leery is just another American opportunist wearing a Blue Democrat Tie, and that’s fooled a lot of Conservatives.

  23. Does anyone even watch these debates? I sure as hell don’t. A bunch of blowhards pointing fingers and fists at each other is of no interest and establishes nothing.
Trump won the election not due to debates but due to his popularity at public appearances and rallies. Who wants to be distracted by fake news by fake politicians.

  24. Nope, haven’t watched any of the debates. Like any leadership race, it’s pretty much decided in the last month or so.

  25. oh my. I seem to have badly misjudged the conservatist lilt here @ sda. isn’t the rule that *whomever* puts a goofy sign around their neck like a toddler in training pants saying ‘vote me! vote me! I’m the conservative’ gets copious amounts of unquestioning support based on the idea at-least-they-aren’t-lieberal-ndp-green-whatever.
o’leary has the earmarkings of an opportunist fraudster. in training pants.
