Blog Notes

For all intents and purposes, it’s spring here.
Yard work, brewing beer, smoking meat.
Go outside, I am. Expect posting like yesterday.

  1. Blah. About an inch of global warming on the deck this morning in Calgary. The snow and ice were almost all gone, now they’re back.
A sure sign of spring – fresh green grass and buds on the trees wearing their frosty coats.

  2. You’re all wrong it’s CAMPING SEASON. Actually it’s all the things everybody said, except maybe the snow in Calgary.

  3. “Today cabin a sucre…”
Doubt there’ll be much boiling today – hardly any frost last night.

  4. Spring is here. Bedspread is off the bed, ceiling fan is on and I have been in the pool every day since Monday.

Yes Trudeau is a complete sellout of Canada to terrorists and tyrants alike. But he’s not just Kool-Aid drinking ideological, he takes the money as well. “I did not take one single penny…………..”
I’m beginning to think that the dullard Trudeau posts here at SDA as the troll UnoME or LAS.
Once you read the mentally ill posts of UnoMe, Justin Trudeau emerges like a homosexual magician.

  6. The HD rolls out this week. No bugs. I feel like my dog with the wind in my nose.
Not much difference between bongo and the clintons. Everything is for sale. A seditious potentate capable of anything. An enemy of the people.

  7. Just installed new pipes on my Ultra Classic limited. as soon as my back alley is dry, its time to ride!

  8. It is more typical to still have snow on the ground around here at this time of year, but our normal variation can include having no snow left now and getting a heavy fall of it next month. From what I recall watching the Weather Network the eastern seaboard seems to have gotten more than we did this winter.

  10. It’s sunny and surprisingly warm here in The Lower Rainland™, with more sun forecast for Monday & Tuesday. Getting raised garden bed boxes built for us tomorrow, and then we start planting.
Grilling steaks tonight. Getting tired of the crap winter we had here this year. Reminded me of being back in Calgary . . .

  11. Exactly. I have been on the field on April 12 and then again not until early May and anywhere in between. No two years alike, but generally around the 20th of April. This year could be earlier, but no guarantees.

  12. Do not go by my safe place with your noisy stinky bikes. If you do a bolt of lightening will hit you and a big hand from the sky will reach down and thrust you out of the universe. Do not shit with me. This is your only warning.

  13. Publish your address and we can organize a biker parade past your door. Otherwise it’s an empty threat.

  14. Yup, it’s April and it’s spring in Lotusland,
Power wash the conc deck and walks. Won’t be here fir Earth Day, but oh well, maybe I can burn something else in Hawaii….
Cleaned the RV holiday spot in 15C sunshine yesterday, ah, almost camping season….
Time to put the Pony back on the road too, and add to Mother Gaia’s CO2 consumption.
Snow in Calgary? I will be sure to remind my peers in Nenshiland this week……..
    Happy Springtime SDA fans!

  15. Lol! Too bad there isn’t a thumbs up function on these messages 😉
Don’t worry Guru! I ride a very quiet and unobtrusive Suzuki Vstrom tourer.
Will be heading up north to Newfoundland and Labrador the last week of May with my son for 2 weeks. Hopefully the snow will be mostly gone up there by then and the black flies not too bothersome (wishful thinking, I know).

  16. Saw my first geese flying over the Ottawa River near Hawkesbury. Also baseball starting up!

  17. Saw geese in Sask. . Last week . Crows are back annoying me plus the the bikers. God I love to be old and miserable. BTW I was a bird watcher ID,d 251 species anybody top that.

  18. Coming back from the Florida Panhandle. Has been the warmest winter for the last 17 years in the Far-North of Florida.
Stopping Atlanta and flying to Bermuda as a Tourist. My last visit as a Royal Canadian Navy Sailor was in 1961. Did not want to miss on the catching up. Came here in 2015 to revist on 75th birthday.
Friendly People reminded me of Newfoundland; different ambience; same unpretentious attitude to visitors though. At least within my Social practicalities. Mind you back in the Sixties the best views, not that there are many bad views; the best views were called “milionaires row”; now they are called billionaires row.
Oh well; i have learned which are the best “single malts”-the taste of scallops & calamari-veal scappolini-burritos & Guiness with soda bread.
    It is enough

  19. Well as an airdronian north of Calgary working here in sunny Tucson Arizona it has been beautiful , an abnormally long cool (not cold ) winter but right now humming birds are out , golfers a go go ….and cigars a plenty in this land of milk and honey …hot and sunny wishing you all the best as I step back to work at bombardier down here and get ready for the trek back home to airdrie in June where I will hopefully find a good gig if not I will have to miss yet another Canadian winter. Lol . Good luck on the brew and the yard lance and Kate. Enjoy the riding to my fellow Canadian bikers. How blessed are we? Keep fighting the good fight.

  20. Jeez Guru your gonna have to change your name to Grouch. It’s spring man. Winters over…. Buy a bike….join in the fun

  21. well nold i am a private contractor working here so no bonus for me lol. the employees find it tough to work a full week here that includes 3 12 hour shifts one week and four 12s the next. Canadians are highly represented here and the Americans are just fine with that except the Quebecois here the Americans dont like them they “whine to much” lol . and several have told me that …the contracting house i am working through fight over western Canadian contractors because we dont complain we get the job done and have a great time doing it. from winkler manitoba to salmon arm bc to airdrie alberta and moose jaw sask i work with several great happy western canadians the french guys are not that bad but they do bitch alot and are never really happy. lol americans have invited me to there homes had bbqs taken me golfing , taken me shooting mountain biking…absolutely great people here in the south. i wish these southern americans we next to canada but instead we get the lefties as neighbours the south is laid back relaxed and ready for a fight the confedcerate flag is proudly carried here in arizona . probably the last best feest state there is it is a constitutional carry state in other words no cop or judge can ever deny a native arizonan the sale and legal open carry of a fire arm. love it here.

  22. Rented a Kawasaki 50 years ago in Moose Jaw cost me a pair of \\\\\jeans bruised knee and lost my deposit. I am
in Palm Springs and missed my usual april fool targets. But, I made up for it today. Ha Ha Ha

  23. Spring here in the GTA. The hot water now only takes 4 seconds to come out of the tap instead 2 minutes; and a load of drying laundry I didn’t take out for 30 minutes after completion was still slightly warm to the touch and not cold as Death like up to last week.

  24. Among other things…
    How Does It Feel?
    https://pjmedia.com/eddriscoll/2015/2/1/how-does-it-feel/
There is this excerpt on “Gell-Mann Amnesia effect ” and “wet streets cause rain” from the late Michael Crichton
“…..what I call the Murray Gell-Mann Amnesia effect. (I call it by this name because I once discussed it with Murray Gell-Mann, and by dropping a famous name I imply greater importance to myself, and to the effect, than it would otherwise have)”
Story on how fake news happens.
Unsurprisingly, it’s the so called “journalists”

  25. Sun, rain, cloud, sun, rain, cloud….spring in Swartz Bay. Still have on winter coat but it is too hot. Still wear touque for evening dog walk. It will come. All the budding rhodos and camelias say so. But they are a month late.
    I want heat. I need heat…

  26. Nice. No French, no metric and feels safe. My Uncle who traveled extensively stateside had a phrase for it:
‘It feels like going home to a Canada that I once knew’

  27. The Kitchen in Obama’s headquarters has overheated. Susan Rice ( & Valerie Jarrett) was named as the person unmasking Trump Tower surveillance (Wire taping)… That connects Obama to these acts of treason…
Nixon got a pardon from Ford, or he would have most likely have gone to Jail for the Watergate “attempt” to obtain Democrat information…. Obama and his crew of gangsters will not get a Trump Pardon
Grand Jury NOW… Bill Clinton & Loretta Lynch, Susan Rice & Valerie Jarrett, NYT & WA Post, CNN & NBC… All the Prosecutions will lead to Obama the Lizard…
Keep Guantanamo BAY open for those found guilty…. like all traitors of America
