Yeah well the British governors should have listened to Lord Durham and assimilated the french talking peasants… Either way no one inflicted more damage upon Canada than Peeair the turd, the revolution he led was wildly successful, not in a good way but for pure raw destructiveness he has no equals. He snuffed out a real country and imposed an artificial replacement, a toxic ideological straitjacket protected by his “Supreme Court” of sorcerer’s.

2. Indeed it is. Giant has become one of my personal favourites, thanks, largely, to Turner Classic Movies. Hollywood doesn’t make ’em like that any more.

   As I recall from what I learned during my high school days, a few years earlier, the Acadians were given a choice: assimilate and be subject to British rule, or be deported to a French territory of choice. Most chose to go to Louisiana.
   That’s the way I heard it originally. In recent years, it’s been portrayed as “ethnic cleansing”, as if the British really wanted to boot out everyone who spoke French.
   As for what Dirty Pierre did to this country, I, sadly, have to agree.
