#FakeNews

Never let the facts get in the way of a good narrative.

An immigration website that was supposedly overwhelmed by Americans wanting to flee to Canada because of a Trump presidency was more likely brought down by foreigners scrambling to get a basic travel document before a deadline.
CBC News has learned that the website for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada was already in trouble hours before Donald Trump’s victory became clear on Nov. 8, the day of the U.S. presidential election.

  1. Of late I have a new rule. If the news story doesn’t link to proof, or I don’t know about it personally, I assume it is either wrong by accident or a deliberate lie, and move on.
Example, anybody know anything more about that mosque shooting?
Yeah, you know the one, where the French kid shot up the place in Quebec.
    No, -this- year.
What do you mean, ‘what mosque shooting?’, it just happened a couple weeks ago.
    See?

  2. Defund the CBC!
Nothing but anti-Canadian propaganda, censorship, and agenda driven bias brought to you at the point of forced Gestapo style taxation.

  3. I thought the cause of the website’s crash was that it is run by Shared Services Canada.

  4. The activist’s of world wide Socialist STATES have No Borders… Canada welcomed all comers. In the USA California did the same.. I expect all possible Terrorists are in San Francisco and ALL illegal Alien criminals will cluster in Las Angeles….
It is all good for USA extermination

  5. Actually I’m organizing a team to go to the airports and wave Bye-Bye. “Oh Canada, should be my future home”

  6. The crash had nothing to do with Trump or with increased inquiries from US citizens.
The Ottawa press gallery has approximately 320 members. The cbc/radio Canada comprise about 80 of the 320. Think they have any time on their hands to ‘invent’ news stories? Just askin’.

  7. “Oh shit Rosie is not going to move here.”
I didn’t know we were short on fat lesbians.

  8. CBC has a mandate to report news to Canadians, not to make the news up. Problem with contrived reporting is that the original story registers with low attention viewers, the correction never does. So this original tale will be accepted as fact by the CBC faithful.
Phantom mentions the Quebec Mosque shooting story above. CBC reported and ran its news ribbon for 4 days that the shooter was influenced by President Trump, all this because he mentions him on his Facebook page, along with half dozen other politicians. Gullible viewers are lead to believe the President somehow was complicit in the shooting atrocities, despite any evidence whatsoever. How could this story ever be reversed should it turn out the perp was moved by other motives?
It can’t be and that is the real intention of CBC, to link the shooter’s name with President Trump as many times as possible. Fake news doesn’t even begin to describe this attitude.

  9. Stay in the US – maybe get deported.
Flee to Canada – get deported.
Some people need to think things through more than they do.
