The McGuinty-Wynne “world leadership on the climate change (global warming)” file is an exercise mat for flexibility training. How else could the Ontario government have mastered its current somersaults on what it hilariously refers to as its energy policy; sending rebates to citizens unable to pay to light and heat their homes, precisely because that same government went full green and put energy costs in a place where people cannot pay to light and heat their homes. The Ontario Green Dream is the world’s first genuine (taxpayer) perpetual motion machine.

I’ve heard the justification for green sin taxes before during the debate over a national child care program.
Liberal’s don’t think you should have discretionary income you’ll just waste it.
If I could be assured that my conversion to Catholicism could be leveraged towards propelling Rex down the road to sainthood, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Perpetual motion machine! That is an apt description of Wind Turbine in the eyes of McGuinty-Wynne-Butts and legions of green zealots. They hold onto the idealistic notion that huge amounts of electricity can be generated without burning any fuel. All the sadder when one considers Ont has ample hydro, nuclear and efficient gas sources; and has access to uranium, and gas nearby. Ont should be a leader in green, efficient, cost effective generation, instead we have this debacle brought to you by Liberal fanatics.
Please do not post these stories without health warnings. I feel the need to take an extra does of my “blood pressure control” medicine after reading it.
When Ontario had a vibrant growing manufacturing economy, Ontario Hydro was known as ‘The Ontario Advantage’, with abundant hydro, nuclear and some coal plants. Now electrical power is the biggest complaint from all the businesses I visit.
All well and good for Rex. Except if our national media -including Rex- would have done their job instead of being AGW alarmists and instead spent the same time and energy exposing the fraud, we would not be having to deal with any of this nonsense.
So let’s not get to effusive with the praise for Rex.
WARD?
Rex has always questioned AGW..going back many many years.
You have references showing otherwise?
How is the energy scheme different from most socialist schemes, including publicly funded social safety net? The safety net programs are expensive and must be paid for by punishingly high rates of taxation. The taxation itself reduces disposable income that could otherwise fund self-reliance, and increases the dependency on the public program. Round and round it goes.
Let the eastern B*_*ards freeze in the dark.
Voting has consequences. It’s a shame so few can recognize the connections.

====Start quote====
We may only yearn now for those simple proto-protest days. Everything that is objected to now involves at least the whole world, the entire planet, our future as a species, and on a good day, the universe itself. And everything that is protested now has at its disposal a vast machinery of studies and research that can argue progress into a hole in the ground at the shake of a microphone. Thirty years ago we were treated to studies and research that had us shivering on the edge of a new Ice Age. Today, thanks to larger studies and better thermometers, we are thankfully on the brink of perpetual spring, a.k.a. global warming.
Such violent oscillation of certainties — from Arctic doom to equatorial melt — in any other field would have destroyed the credibility of an enterprise or its proponents. But if the cause is good, and the attachment to it ardent, embracing polar contradictions is not seen as folly, merely suppleness of viewpoint.
When George W. Bush announced that he was withdrawing the United States from the Kyoto protocols, the response was predictably, from some quarters, unrestrained. This was a near Satanic attack on the very future of the planet. But when the United States got knocked off the UN’s Human Rights Commission — while slave-selling states and some choice tyrannies remain on that bubble of world justice — the outrage over that vast hypocrisy is rationed. Attachment to good causes should be more of a piece, and not allow for such a variety of moral response.
=== end quote ===
“and increases the dependency on the public program”
There you nailed it! That is their goal to make you totally dependent on the government. Slavery in its finest hour.
And it was all so predictable.
All one needed was a modicum of skepticism over the more outrageous claims of the green lobby, and a pencil and paper.
But a “modicum of skepticism” was not to be found. Wynne swallowed the environmental propaganda hook-line-and-sinker with few questions asked, and now Ontarians will pay for her naivete.
Everyone who gets their living from work funded by the government (politicians in office, government employees, employees of tax-funded non-government organisations such as universities, schools, health care providers, and private companies that have the government as a customer) is in a conflict of interest, their own against the public interest that their work purports to serve. If anyone can cite an instance of a problem that was ever solved by government, where the government department or agency that solved it was then abolished, please tell me about it.
“Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.”
Ronaldus Magnus.
And let me grind some more salt in now, WE LET THEM DO IT!!!! We even -paid- them to do it.
Step One to reversing this situation: get everyone you know to stop buying Canadian media products. No TV, no radio, no newspapers. Break that monopoly and the Liberals will fall.
If you can’t be bothered to work at that, then shut up and pay your hydro bill.
Right-o, Murray! And the ‘social safety net’? Make no mistake, the only social program in Canada, or at least the primary (directive) one, is the transfer of wealth from productive members of society to non-productive. Once you accept that, then it becomes easier to understand why ‘consumers’ of social/education/health programs are low priority next to what is most important: paying the wages and benefits demanded by the Mandarin Class, and expanding their numbers.
Subsidizing Teslas is like subsidizing the arts. Tax Joe Sixpack who pays for his own preferred C&W to lower the ticket price for those tuxedo wearing, limousine delivered patrons of the Opera. The green theocracy may be a slight twist but disdain for the common citizen is the common denominator.
I wonder if the Spawn, when basking in the limelight at such events has a conscience when confronted with a victim of the same ideology that Butts has convinced him of or if he is a cold blooded, steely eyed zealot like Butts who, in another time and place, could just as easily be herding humans into concentration camps for extermination.
Done about a decade ago Phantom.
Wynne swallowed the environmental propaganda hook-line-and-sinker with few questions asked
I find myself hoping that was the case – that she was just sincerely mistaken. But my “Liberal Alert” light has been glowing red for years now – I’m deeply suspicious that she, and her ideological padawan on Parliament Hill, knew all along that this was always, only, just another tax grab.
To understand oil Commodity pricing in the last 50 years you just have to read Bill Clinton’s pardon of Marc Rich.
Marc Rick is now dead & oil pricing has returned to the Market

I agree. Anything I have read that Rex has written has always been to expose the AGW/Climate Change fraud.
Was on a cruise a few years ago. They sat 8 of us (all Canadians) at the same dining table.
Talk turned to occupations. ALL of us with the exception of one (a housewife) were employed
either as nurses, police officers or Federal Gov’t. employees. When I pointed that out, there was dead silence and the subject was quickly changed.
The worst part about the Green Schemes is that it’s all pain and no gain for taxpayers and consumers. Don’t believe me? Ask them how much their programs will alter global temps or sea levels over the next 10,25,50 and 100 years. The estimates in degrees Celsius is miniscule, as is any projected change in sea levels.
BTW, am I the only one who’s curious about the Samsung-South Korean government bribery and corruption scandal and if there was similar deals with other governments? The Ontario Liberals signature wind power deal was with Samsung, I think. And let’s be honest, the Liberals under Mcguinty and Wynne have not run a very clean government. Not that shady Liberal governments bother Ontario voters or the national media very much.
The AGW theory is a probability built upon a probability… It has NO supporting FACTS and has not published a falsifiable theory….It is drivel…
The following is a Russian understanding of science
“No matter how perfect a bird’s wing may be it could never make the bird airborne without the support of the air. Facts are the air of the scientist. Without them you will never be able to take off. Without them your theories will be barren.”
—I. P. Pavlov
Interesting.I was just on a cruise and the antiTrump banter was huge. I guess the upper class can’t, for the life of them, understand how the average Joe voted in a man like Trump, all the while enjoying a 5 star vacation with an epic carbon footprint. Your average Trump voter can’t afford these types of vacations hence why there are few Trump supporters on Royal Caribbean.
Also saw another guy with a shirt that said, “Polution in not the Solution.” On a ship that weighs 225,000 tons and is tooling around the Caribbean so we can have a first world city no matter where we go.
Laughable.
Why do you think “equalization” was invented? There is no possibility of the East freezing in the dark, as long as there is any province anywhere that can send money.
Not mystifying at all. Just as they have always asserted, the Libs and the NDP are the parties that truly love the poor. That’s why they have created so many of them.
Every time I canvassed, going back decades, for the PCs or CPCs the percentage of people I talked working, sorry employed, by a government seemed to increase. When talking about staggering debt, hydro, disappearance of high paid manufacturing jobs their eyes would glaze over and I knew it was time to move on. They just didn’t care.
I’m from the guvamint and I’m here to give you free LED light bulbs and lo-flow shower heads.
Free LED lights, low-flow shower heads coming to Alberta homes
Meanwhile, back at the deficit ranch. . .
Said it before…..the ‘average idiot’ needs to feel pain, oftentimes a LOT of it, before he/she puts down the remote and the potato chips and wakes up. Even thought we’re getting hit too I have zero sympathy.
“There is no possibility of the East freezing in the dark, as long as there is any province anywhere that can send money.”
Minor quibble: provinces don’t fund equalization; all Canadian taxpayers and corporations do.
I quibble with your quibble. Thought experiment: the economics department, the history department, the literature department and the physics department staff all have to contribute $1000 to the university accounting services. The total is $250,000. The physics department then gets the entire $250,000 while the other three get nothing.Would the economics, history and literature staff see this as their departments funding physics? Would they think this was fair?
I am all infavor of LEd bulbs, but one has to be analytical to their economy.
In the [ast 18 months when I decided to replace 10 regular bulbs wit LEDs, I have had to replace 4 of them. Now, they are dvertized at 50,000 hour lifetimes, but that is only the the LED devices themselves. If one adds the reliability of wire connections, additional circuitry, etc. one gets a much higher failure rate.
The two weakest parts of the equation are the solder joints supplying current to the LED strings and the electrolytic capacitors used in the power conditioning circuit.
It is not necessairly wise to buy the lowest price LED bulbs. (Hey, what’s new?)
Foobert, don’t you understand? The Alberta Socialist NDP has simpy discovered
the Ontario Socialist Liberal government’s discovery of the word’s first perpetual
motion money machine as described by Rex.
I used to look lustfully toward Alberta when we had the dreadful NDP running the show out here and you smart and lucky folks had King Ralph. No more of dreaming that Alberta nonsense. Too bad because I was born and bred an Albertan before I left for the military life.
BCer
Careful, Bill, you might wake up the idiot NME666.
Is it just.me or has someone handed Trudeau a big cup.of shUT the fk up?
I’ll stick to my guns re being critical of Rex. He has been like Goldstein, which has been to be critical in an indirect fashion.
Rex is by no means a full throated anti alarmist.
“Thought experiment: the economics department, the history department, the literature department and the physics department staff all have to contribute $1000 to the university accounting services. The total is $250,000. The physics department then gets the entire $250,000 while the other three get nothing. Would the economics, history and literature staff see this as their departments funding physics? Would they think this was fair?”
The fallacy with your analogy is that equalization is an “output issue” and that’s where any argument about its rights and wrongs ought to remain; there are no provincial payments into some central fund; there are only federal taxes paid by all Canadians, a portion of which are allocated to equalization payments in the Federal budget by formula.
If equalization payments were abolished, every Canadian would still pay the same scale of Federal tax regardless of where they reside in Canada.
I DARE any Tesla driver to compare their TOTAL NET CARBON FOOTPRINT with mine. That footprint INCLUDES all the industrial activity necessary to fabricate their MAGIC electric car. ALL the net power (including transmission losses) necessary to charge their batteries. And then, extend to the carbon footprints to the full LIFE-CYCLE cost of running their so-called eco-machine … including the eventual total battery swap … unless they accidentally run-over a piece of road junk which punctures the bottom-slung batteries … which always ends in a deadly conflagration..
I NEVER purchase “new” automobiles. And I still drive (daily) my secondhand 1991 BMW 325i e30. It gets 25-30 mpg, runs like a bat out of hell (weight-to-hp ratio is just SICK). It passes each and every STRINGENT California emissions test (along with most cars on the freeway). I am a CONSERVATIONIST. I CONSERVE my automobiles. I keep them in tip-top condition. I am not STRAINING the earth’s resources by CONSUMING NEW eco-cars. My personal carbon footprint is a tiny fraction of the average eco-saloon owner. The small amount of gaseous exhaust from my micro-auto pales when compared to the total industrial output of carbon necessary to fabricate and power a Tesla. The equation isn’t even CLOSE.
But I don’t get to “virtue-signal” anyone when driving down the road. The smile on my face is owed to the SICK performance of my finely-tuned “classic” … it is not a smirk of eco-affectation. Nobody on the road perceives the GREEN-IALITY of my little high-performance sedan, but my mechanic always wants to buy it from me.
I do know one thing for certain … the resale market for Teslas will be awful. Most used Teslas will end up like most used Prius … with JUNK titles … with SALVAGE titles. Why ? And damage whatsoever to the fragile battery packs costs MORE than the used value of the car. NOBODY will be extending the life of their Teslas like I have extended the life of my little BMW. Tesla owners will treat their autos like a used piece of Kleenex. Into the rubbish bin with it.
Does anyone here read Michael Harris article at ipolitics.ca ? He is still complaining about Harper with nary a bad word for Trudeau, pretty disgusting journalism.
Gee, bcER, you post three six’s, so now the devil owns you
Do you think that any thing will become of the charge that pope McStupid knew of that child molester they arrested in Itally2 (argentine), that was sent out of Itally1 because he was a child molester. Just gotta luv katholiks, never ending entertainment
MILO got over it … maybe you should too ?

CLEAN HOUSE of every pedophile Priest, Rabbi, Reverend, Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader, Middle school Teacher, etc.
When Dalton first spoke of this green energy policy (or 2? 3? billion dollars ago), I emailed him some fairly simple questions: Did anyone consider preparing a cost/benefit analysis? You have an aging population and health care is not going to be your priority? Not to mention the examples already set in other countries, should we not learn from their experiences?
Needless to say I received no reply, and it’s been a mess ever since. Will common sense ever prevail? Are there any conservatives in Ontario?
NME666 is the price we all pay for frequenting SDA.
Best if simply ignored!
Obviously, I disagree. If equalization didn’t exist the feds wouldn’t need as much tax and more money could stay in the hands of those who earned it or taxed by the provinces, who are responsible for most public services. The 18 billion dollars of annual equalization payments filtered from individuals to Ottawa and then to provincial governments (then straight companies like Bombardier) isn’t pocket change. They’d have better argument if it was a wealth transfer from wealthier Canadians to poorer Canadians (regardless of which province they live in). Then it wouldn’t be considered a provincial welfare program.
During the last four provincial elections, about two-thirds of Ontario’s electorate have cast their ballots for the Liberals, NDP, or Greens.
Ontario: old Huron word meaning “please put it to us without bear grease”
I’m with you on all.of that Kenji…bought a used Duramax in Feb 07…had 31,000 miles on it…today am sitting 300,945…and runs better now than when I bought it. Maintenance…ad nausea…but regardless, I still get 21.5 mag and for 7600 lbs..not to shabby..
Cheers
my fear is that in that bizarre realm of the Wynndefarm brain, she will see the writing on the wall re election prospects and decide to ‘punish’ Ontarians for their withdraw of support.
the worst is truly yet to come from that obscenity.
yet again I called the local hydro utility promising to cough up my arrears by Friday, and asked them to do me a favour, namely scout around for a 250 pound linebacker type, provide them a train ticket to Tranna, put Ms Wynne in a headlock and smash her face in. All in jest of course, but that is basically what the Lieberal cabal has done to this once enviable province.
JJM has just found a different way to measure how long a cats tail is. The measurement is on a provincial basis – both the benefactors and the losers are calculated on a provincial basis.
It is how you say – if both you and me put $10 in a pot and at the end of the year you get $5 back … the net is I paid $10, you paid $5. Doesn’t matter how you measure the cat’s tail.
And BTW, if we both paid $7.50 tribute to the feds, they would still have $15 to waste.
Canada’s “power house” of manufacturing…look at it now…a wasteland of empty buildings…
No Investor in his right mind would put up shop here…insane taxation coupled with the highest electrical costs in North America…and a sub national debt beyond 300 Billion….
Brilliant Stewardship – Now being mimicked by the Feds with the Prancing Pansy in Charge and Gerald Butts behind much of it. That this SCUM should be prosecuted is Clear…will it ever happen..?? Yea, once we take control of all governments in the land and turf these (_I_)holes out on their ear…leading them straight to a guillotine….seemed to work for the French..??
They are changing this country from a manufacturing haven and hewers of resources into an impoverished ghetto of safe spaces, refugee enclaves & government overseers…while the rest of us work at low paying meaningless toil and are forced to pay all of our wages to provide said govt with it’s largesse.
Sounds a lot like North Korea to me.
