Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What are the chances of an increase in Capital Gains tax in the next budget?
Well, what can I say?
Democracy prevailed, seems that many Canadians were ignorant to the point to vote HRH Justin of Papineau for PM back in October 2015 so unfortunately we all deserve what we get from the elitist globalist. That in a torrent of immigrants, more deficits, more job losses and now Trump.
I for one, can afford to quit my job, (soon to be retired) move to rural Sask far away from any big city full of liberals and/or leftists. From there I will witness the implosion of Canada, well deserved too. Unless….??? Make Canada Great Again. Finally looks like the united right in Alberta is going to Make Alberta Great Again. Final option may be to secede away from the East + Maritimes.
The Republic of Western Canada. Here In Western Australia I see similar resentment of the East.
The incoming budget will include several tax increase including increasing hst to 15%. I hope you teachers and millennials are happy
You haters just don’t understand that the economy needs more hart!
No wonder Trump chose May as first foreign leader to visit. Petite patate lightweight.
@CFLRheal BINGO!! You nailed it.
LOL
Justin will have to tax us out of the deficits. Like that’ll work… The Carbon Tax scare should partially work however giving out our hard earned money (Justin has no connection to us commoners’ struggle to make ends meet) to third world corrupt dictators may finally gift him a Holy Seat at the UN…
Ronald Reagan once said: “Simple fairness dictates that government must not raise taxes on families struggling to pay their bills.”
Capital gains – not so likely. Too many high-end Liberals play the stock market.
What is much more likely is the erosion of the principal residence exemption. That will hit the downmarket folk hardest, as – for many of them – their principal wealth is tied up in their homes. The changes will be incremental. For 2016, everyone who sold a principal residence has to report sale of same. Coming up – and there are hints on the CRA website – anyone who uses part of their principal residence to earn income (either by renting out part of the home, having an office-in-home as a condition of employment, or as their principal office for a small business) will find that that portion of the principal residence no longer qualifies for a deduction; probably retroactively. Finally, CRA will go full IRS and tax gains on principal residences. Am willing to bet, however, that the CRA will not follow the IRS in allowing the deduction of mortgage interest on the T1 (as is done in the US on the 1040 south of the border.
what Canada need is for the muslim terrorists to attack Ottawa and wipe out the house of commons with everyone in it. I am sure either one of Justin’s Cabinet ministers or Syrian “children” might be able to get this done.
Perhaps when Juthtin gets finished with his taxpayer funded blathering idiot tour he can take off his shirt, that should help the economy… and it would be very uplifting for Juthtins fans in the Media… a win win.
Yes,the house/business tax will help, but I fully expect the GST will be raised back to 7% very soon.
That is crossing the line. Wishing for a bloodbath in Ottawa…
It’s people like you that give us folks on the right a black eye. Moron.
And now Trudeau is phasing out the Auto industry
GM axing 625 jobs at Ontario plant, shifting some production to Mexico
Trump fights for US jobs, and Ford complies. Now we find out Ford is going to shift Canadian jobs to Mexico instead. For all the Justin loving, Trump hating Canadians out there, let’s see who proves to be the better leader for his own country…can Justin keep up?
I don’t understand it: Junior has his jacket and even his tie off most of the time and his sleeves rolled up ready to work, and to work hard.
What could be going wrong? Maybe he should be wearing a hard hat.
Depends how greedy the Fibs are and whether the Idiot Finance Minister remembers his Bay St experience, and the implications of a large stock sell off. Even some well heeled Fibs don’t want their stocks hammered by Fiscal ineptitude. Better to hammer the stoners on heavy pot taxes, they voted for Spud
I’m mildly disconcerted that $800,000,000 is required to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, it’s not THAT significant a milestone, I’m sure communities across the land would celebrate adequately without a champagne budget, seems like an expensive patriotism orgy for the First Transnational State with no unique identity. What did I read on the internet the other day? It’s an insult to drunken sailors because drunken sailors stop spending when they run out of money…
I love the way the Liberals think, we have over-crowded under funded national parks and they give away free one year park passes. Brilliant!!
Whats next, how about free tuition for one year to celebrate Trudeau’s 4 years in office… that will get some votes from our clever kids.
Canada had a PM who studied and understood Economics, but he had a funny hair cut. This one’s closest connection is that his old man went to the London school of Economics. Sort of like having an immigrant experience because your grandfather emigrated from Scotland.
In what could possibly be one of the dumbest moves ever, there are rumblings that Morneau will tax health and dental plans. Guess what will be one of the first things employers will drop.
Federal Liberals eye tax on private health and dental plans, a move that would take in about $2.9B
If the Liberals REALLY wanted to hurt average middle-class Canadians, what would they be doing any differently???
Right you are. I went Galt decades ago. Fúck ‘Em.
Correct!!! People who advocate violence are no better than the muslimes.
That is the thing about Marxism; eventually and inevitably, a blood bath is how they always end. And all you got is a logical fallacy for an argument? An ad hominem or appeal to emotion… seriously?
The funniest thing I heard on the radio today was some Canadian auto Union type saying how Trump doesn’t care about Canadians or Mexicans. Really? You mean he isn’t our president as well? Who would have thunk that the leader of another country should think about leading his own country first. Why’d doesn’t Finland do something to help out Canada?
As far as the Liberals are concerned Canada is the lifeboat of the world. We are going to save everybody with our philanthropy, we are going to demonstrate that we can still punch above our weight, we are going to show the world what wealth redistribution looks like even if it kills us because we are Canadians and yes, “We are that stupid!!!!”
Where did the money go?
If you have money invested/to inveest, now might be a good time to sell Canadian stocks and buy American ones instead. American taxes will go down, Canadian taxes will go up and we are likely heading towards a 60 cent dollar again.

Kate (and others), you entirely miss the point.
At this rate, the 12 month federal deficit is below the projected $20 billion deficit – and well below the $30 billion deficit some others predicted.
But with governments, it’s not the taxing, borrowing or deficits – it’s all about the spending.
I’ve never been more relieved than to know “the budget will balance itself”, it sure takes a lot of stress off the table. Those of us who live in the massively in debt province of Ontario need to hope Madam Wynne has been consulting with PM Selfie to find out how it’s done. There are a lot of others in the business world who would also like to know the secret. Perhaps someone will be curious enough to ask him as he treks across the frozen land to town halls…nah, maybe not. He’s rather talk about building canoe sheds for the Indians.
Said it before – those who vote in lefty governments require a lot of pain, inflicted by said governments, in order to realize the error of their ways.David VISA

The 20 and 30 billion dollar figures were projections relating to the end of liddle Juthtinth firth term. He’s still got almost three more years. Have a little faith in the tit, eh!
It used to be that a family could claim TWO principle residences. The husband could claim one and the wife could claim one. That way the family cottage could stay in the family. Guess who was the Prime Minister that closed that “loophole”? Yes. It was Justin’s dad.
Can we make Canada great too, eh?! WTF is wrong with Canadian – we need to find a spine.
And Pierre, I mean, Justin Trudeau and company are laughing all the way to the bank.
“taxpayer funded blathering idiot tour” that’s too funny.
I’ve been using the “dodging the ethics commissioner tour” and the “I didn’t get invited to the world economic forum because I don’t know what a budget is tour”.
Yours is better I might borrow that, hope you don’t mind.
It’s thunny wayths, from the heart out! Thith fellth good, I’m Juthtin and thanths to dullard voters and a complicit media, all in for failure on a grand scale, well here I am. Unfortunatly in a democracy with no electoral college system we can be gifted a moron of this order, a sort of moron of morons a virtual god, in the libtard world, someone to worship, someone that sends tingles down Peters and Lisas and Dawna’s legs, well enjoy it folks cause it’s just getting started. Unless this country grows up, calls down, and stops buying from, our so called sychophant libotomized media, Trump style, and splits from the eastern morons who steal us in the west broke, this flake Justhtin will be a frosted flake once grey. But he will still be taxing every last thing we all have because Gerald and George tell him to
if 39.42 % of the vote, saddling us with more incompetent socialists is democracy speaking, then you are right, I have always thought that having tail wag the dog was real piss off. I hate being told by inferiors how I have to live and how much I have to spend to support their incompetence.
And exactly where do these figures come from ? When I listened to Bill Morneau a little more than a month ago my take was it was more likely to be 34 billion. Oh well , when the government gets their new agency to vet all the ” fake ” news I am sure this will all be straightened out. In the meantime Ralph Goodale is keep us all safe with a new gun law panel . Yes , we are headed down that road again .
yah, GROK, Finland, with fewer people than greater Toronto, and a socialist system, could come here and teach about democracy and freedoms. Now that is a scary thought, that we have surrendered that much of our liberties, that a socialist country is better off than we are in those areas. The redeeming thing on that is that Finnish males are like Canadian liberals and progressive cons, they handed their ballz to the state a long time ago.
As I asked previously, if the money was spent then where are the receipts and what was delivered?
Any way I can help, Bill… be my guest 🙂
TimR,
The employers that offer those plans won’t be nearly affected as much as you’d think. It’s the employees that are going to foot most of the damage from health plans being taxed. Employers really don’t care if your plan is taxed if you’ve already maxed out CPP and EI… they pay nothing more. It’s the employees that will end up footing between 26% and 48% tax rates on these plans, and that’s all their cost.
Why do you write with a lisp? It looks retarded. I can understand a speech defect but this affectation is intentional. Are you looking for sympathy?

I have a hard time with this story, and fail to see how Trudeau or Trump are at fault here. In the fall of 2015, I was dealing on a new Chevy Terrain. The dealer informed me that some of the GM models that were being built in Ontario (Oshawa??) were going to be built in Michigan while others would be built in Mexico. That included certain Cadillac sedans. How is Trump or Trudeau involved? neither had been elected as of Sept. 2015.
I’ve now decided to go with a Ford.
hi ted. so you agree the shytstain that gunned down Corporal Cirillo was on the ‘right’ track?

lets all do like the ‘mercuns: got a problem? get a gun !!
captcha ‘mexico pension’. whatever could it mean? LOL !!
Sorry–my comment was intended as a reply to TimR’s link about GM’s Terrain production being moved to Mexico.

anybody want to see a relic from the late 19th century just look at the auto workers, er, ‘workers’ union.
grasping thieving worst of the worst labour union mentality. entitlements too many to count, blackmail their main strategy applied in between all the pickup trucks backed up to the loading dock so ‘Bill’ can pull away with a brand spankin’ new 454 he’s got a buyer for and all the fellows on the line involved in the theft get a cut. and when they see how easy it is, starts to snowball. foreman doesn’t want to rock the boat, looks the other way, office staff don’t dare suggest the mismatched inventory numbers are more that counting errors etc etc. upper mgmt. just increases prices and what ho, robots? robots? cutting cost by the billions and what the heck. . . . the inventory shortages start disappearing. far out.
