  1. The entire Canadian bureaucracy appears to run on a 5 hour workday, so what are the Swedes missing?

  2. “The take away was largely positive, with nurses at the home feeling healthier, which reduced sick-leave, and patient care improving.”
No shit? If I had a 6 hour workday, I’d feel healthier too. Just think how good I’d feel with say, a 3 hour workday. Ah let’s shoot the moon and go for a 1 hour workday. Just imagine the benefits to overall health and well-being.
When will these idiots come to the realization that such indulgences come with costs? No business, other than government, can pay employees for 8 hours when only 6 hours of work are done without running into a severe financial shit-storm. What ever happened to the application of common sense to a given situation?

LOL, I was just going to say that the average Canadian seems to need that extra 1 hour wind up, then 1 hour wind down to their work day. So we only get 6 productive hours out of an 8 hour work day regardless.
That must leave the Swedes 4 hrs or less of average daily productivity.

  4. Do these people not understand simple math?
They reduced the hours by 25% and had to increase staff by… 25%!
    Sheesh

  5. That must leave the Swedes 4 hrs or less of average daily productivity.
Don’t you remember those Participaction ads from the early 1970s? The average 60-year-old Swede is healthier than the average 30-year-old Canadian.

  6. Instead of a one-hour workday, can I do my five hours (I still want weekends off) one day a week?

Heh, very true – Now they dye their hair black, design chastity belts and generally try to look as unattractive to Male Muslims as they hopefully can.
    “Live long and prosper”

  8. My wife applied for her Old Age Security back in the beginning of April. Our Federal civil servants have still not processed her application.

  9. Hey Sweden ! We’ve got at least 30million fence jumpers who are … “doing the jobs that Americans just won’t do”… and they all deserve a 6 hour workday. Perhaps your new Socialism will work if you just import MORE labor ? Quick … before all 30million get Federal jobs and get to work 4 hours per day.

  10. The answer is obvious: just legislate an 18 hour solar day.
“I personally believe in shorter working hours as a long-term solution,” he said. “The richer we become, the more we need to take advantage of that wealth in other ways than through a newer car or higher consumption.”
As always, the real question is ‘who is “we”?’.

  11. how are the swedes going to pay for all those Islamic invaders that they have welcomed in?

  12. reminds me of a huge graffiti on a wrecking yard fence back in the days of frequent Canada Post strikes:
’40 for 30′. in other words, one of the demands was 40 hours pay for 30 hours work.
little did I know until we moved next door to a letter carrier (early 80s), CUPW already had it !
yep. I worked rotating shifts and saw when the dude left in the morning and arrive in the early afternoon to fetch his golf bag.
