  1. So much for global warming, get ready for long winters and cool summers…

Here’s the thing about CO2, wherever it comes from…
Global vegetation has increased about 15% over the last several decades, proven by satellite imagery, due to higher CO2 levels. The reality is that increased CO2 will help immensely to offset shorter growing seasons and reduced yeilds, as plants grow faster and produce more mass. Current record crop yields attest to this fact. One day, not as far off as many might think, it will be realized that 400 to 450 ppm atmospheric CO2 will turn out to be a boon and a blessing that will prevent the kind of crisis in food production that was a reality of the last mini ice age.
And very likely save millions, if not tens of millions, of lives.

  2. Given the wildly different assessments of climate change risks within the non-scientist community, perhaps we need some sort of insurance/betting market. That would allow the climate science alarmists to buy “insurance” from the climate science skeptics. That way if the climate goes bad at least the alarmists will have extra cash to build their underground homes. And that cash will come out of the pockets of the science-deniers. Sweet!
But if the deniers are right, and they want to be rewarded by the alarmists for their rightness, the insurance/betting market would make that possible.
It would also be fascinating to see where the public put the betting odds for climate science. Would people expose themselves to both sides of the debate before betting? — Scott Adams

Matt Ridley delivers the 2016 Annual GWPF Lecture at the Royal Society, London 17 October

  5. I’ve read the transcript of that speech. Matt Ridley is pretty much one of the wisest and sanest persons on the entire planet. I read his book, “The Rational Optimist”, should be required reading for every student before they’re cut loose from our high schools! In the very least, they would know about 10 times as much on graduation day as is currently the standard.

  6. I agree that “Matt Ridley is pretty much one of the wisest and sanest persons on the entire planet.” Some years ago, I received the ‘Rational Optimist’ as a gift. That book re-focused how I look at the world evolving and changing around us, and it gave me a more optimistic view of the future. As an earth scientist I saw how Ridley’s perspective on the past and the future cut through all the BS, MSM propaganda, and ‘Fake News’ that washes around us every day. Yes, the ‘Rational Optimist’ should be required reading for every H.S. student.

  7. I see the MSM has the sads, one of the Hollywood royalty with a tie-in to the Star Wars franchise has had a massive heart attack at the age of 60. Not much discussion of her legendary epic cocaine consumption, she was so famous for her drug use Meryl Streep starred in a 1990 comedy movie, Postcards From the Edge, screenplay by Carrie Fisher, based on her 1987 semi-autobiographical novel. Not so funny now.

  8. Couldn’t finish the video as that kind of woman is just objectionable. And since when is Trump anti-woman anyway?

  9. MSM’s selective “outrage”.

“Registered nurse Jennifer Vaillancourt was fired from the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in 2013 for repeated theft of narcotic medications, and breach of protocols relating to access and use to those drugs. She also falsified medical records, including narcotic record and patient charts to cover up the theft. By all accounts, the theft and alteration of records went on for seven years.
Once the hospital discovered the theft and the irregular records, Vaillancourt denied responsibility, asserting later that this was at the advice of her boyfriend, and flowed from her fear of being arrested and losing her job. She claimed that she was ashamed of the theft and drug use, but was unable to control it.
It was not until after the conclusion of her cross-examination – more than 18 months after her employment was terminated — that she ultimately acknowledged the extent of her misconduct.”

“2016 was a great year, actually. It heralds a return to the old normal”
“Thanks to Donald Trump, who identified the anti-PC demographic, unleashed it and rode it to a convincing electoral college victory, political correctness has lost much of its power. As the left comes to see it as discrediting and disempowering — after, all, it has alienated most voters and led to the rise of Trump — “PC” will lose what remains of its cachet. Offensive speech can then return to being dealt with civilly, as it historically has, albeit imperfectly, by appeals to good manners.”

  12. You Tube never corrects the mistakes it makes.
One of their videos has Peevey’s voice singing the hippo song who is pretty good BTW matched to a film clip of Shirley Temple. It has been up for years; in fact I think I may have linked it once.

    “Obama shafts Israel”
“Four weeks before he leaves the White House, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Barack Obama betrayed the principles of peace, the State of Israel and America’s values by letting a lynch mob at the United Nations mug the only democracy in the Mideast with a resolution that calls for no Jews to live in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem or to pray at the Western Wall, the last remnant of the Second Temple of antiquity.
This obscenity, on the eve of Chanukah, when the ancient Israelites freed the Holy City and the Second Temple from pagans, should have been immediately vetoed by Israel’s ally, the United States. Instead, President Obama stood aside as the UN Security Council voted unanimously for a measure which has the force of international law.”
