  1. Alas for thee, poor Yorick. Alberta is getting the full measure of what it earned by voting in a Dipper government. And until the Right unites, this is what it’s going to be for the foreseeable future.

  2. Alberta was my birthplace and home, I have an ingrained love of its beauty and bounty on all kind. It is without doubt a crying shame thet it is now governed by baristas, social letches, and non contributing or entitled crowd. A shame.
The new class who wants, but does not pay or build/contribute. The class who degrades and corrodes the legacy of those who came before, and built the most envious/successful province in Canada. What a shame.
Without a return to valuing effort, rewarding success, individual initiative and “hard work”, the downfall of Alberta, the beautiful, and prosperous, will accelerate. I for one will be extremely hurt and disappointed.
Stand up folks, kick these leeches out, by whatever means, unless you wish to become a socialist backwater and failed experiment.
NOW, ACT NOW, or fail and suffer. Still love Alberta. Always will, let’s get her back on track. This GOV is a disaster, must go.

  3. The wealthy won’t notice the increased costs, the middle class will be screwed, and the poor will get a rebate that’s substantially more than the tax they pay. It’s little more than Socialist wealth redistribution and skimming off the top to grow the government bureaucracy bigger.

  4. I over heard a conversation at the grocery store check-out this afternoon here in Ontario…the province that is so hell bent on driving its’ citizen’s into energy poverty…the comment was “churches and charities are going to have to open soup kitchens in January when people get their hydro bills” I can see it happening…so beware the rest of you as the carbon tax/cap and trade cascades through the economy.

  5. Exactly right, John.
The problem is that socialists bribe their way into government and then use the monopolistic power of government for self-aggrandizement purposes (aka fairy tale utopias), funding it all by the money collected from citizens by government power.
Socialists and other oligarchs are attracted to government because it provides virtually unlimited power and seemingly unlimited funding.

  6. I’m not surprised at her attitude. Shannon Phillips has always impressed me as being more arrogant and contemptuous of Albertans than her boss Red Rachel.
Her policies strike me as being revenge for some unidentified offence. Unfortunately, many of her cabinet colleagues aren’t much better.

  7. What pray tell, are her qualifications for the job? Has she even taken ONE science course since gr. 11? Math or stats? Or was she simply Union Rep for the Library Assistants CUPE local at the University library, as she appears?

  8. What pray tell, are her qualifications for the job? Has she even taken ONE science course since gr. 11? Math or stats? Or was she simply Union Rep for the Library Assistants CUPE local at the University library, as she appears?

  9. Is she a 400 pounder or is that just our hehehe “health minister”. God what a nightmare here in Alberta,,thanks fast eddie, that 3 percent on the royalities will sure cost us more than you could have ever hoped to gain to placate the media morons you hoped to please with “our fair share”, when a sitting government is trying to please people as stupid as media morons, you will always get TOTAL morons for a government quickly after the next elections.

  10. When will PG&E stop lying to people about their solar panels making your electric meters spin backward?

  11. What pray tell, are her qualifications for the job?
    According to:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shannon_Phillips
she was an economic policy analyst for the Alberta Federation of Labour, hardly qualifications for being Environment Minister.
She was an undergrad at the University of Alberta the same time I was a graduate student there, though I don’t remember hearing or reading anything about her. Maybe she wasn’t politically active or kept a low profile.
However, Ezra Levant was also there during that time, studying law, and I recall reading his numerous letters and commentaries in the student newspaper.

  12. “What pray tell, are her qualifications for the job?”
    Here they are:
11,284 votes or 59.5 percent of the vote in Lethbridge West during the Alberta General Election of 2015.
    Suck it up, folks.
At least until the next election.

  13. That got her a seat in the house. Qualifications for the job…. The roller derby queen in her biography stands out.
The NDP have all the qualifications of a kindergarten PTA . Like Trudeaus cabinet where ethnicity was over experience . Now it resembles the cast of fraggle Rock
866 days till we skid the dipper rig

  14. Exactly! This is politics where popularity is more important than ‘job qualifications’. It’s like the difference between selecting prom royalty and the class valedictorian. Anyone who believes that politicians are elected on the basis of job qualification is very naive.

  15. Arlene the solar panel user in that interview is a MORON. The facts are staring her in the face and she doubles down on the green religious dogma.

  16. “A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.” – George Bernard Shaw

  17. “And PS – you didn’t answer my question. Nice try.”
There was no question to answer.
We live in a parliamentary democracy, not a technocracy.

  18. “That got her a seat in the house.”
Which was the basic qualification for the premier to be able to select her as a minister.
