Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Her party has not fared well in the final elections, where the other parties unite to defeat her. Time will tell if she can get a majority of the voters this time.
Stopped reading in the third paragraph when the fiction writer mentioned Team Trump’s transition incompetency. It’s just another example of how the MSM sets its own paradigm and agenda. Trump was elected, contrary to their admonishments and all-knowing tripe, yet they are already calling him incompetent — less than 14 days after his election and still months prior to his inauguration. In Obama’s 8 years they never uttered that word – ever.
Author is severely leftarded. Not going to waste salt on it.
Yeah “Marine Le Pen, the far-right leader” except that she is not far right, she is national socialist.
“But if the incompetence that Team Trump has been showing throughout his transition keeps asserting itself”
Propaganda! Nothing said is relevant.
The poseur that wrote that article, in addition to the above criticism, conflates a discriminating view of Islam with “racism”. The Europeans certainly love their statism in all of its grotesque variants. Can there be anything more politically anti-European than a libertarian?
Yep,same here. Incompetence of the Trump transition, 12 days after the election!?
The author is trying to frighten the masses into preventing another uprising of the peasants against his cronies,The Elite, as he sees them,in every Country.
Better an Islamic caliphate than a Country led by a ..gasp!… right wing government!
And that is exactly the direction France and Europe are headed in.
“Far right”? Well, I guess so if you are used to standing right beside Karl Marx, EVERYTHING looks “far right”.
Sporty and Bl@kbird have the right of it. Author is serving up all the leftard memes.
I urped-up a little in my mouth when I read “Pascal’s” (is that his real name) description of Trump as “unstable”. Let me guess, Pascal … his voters are just as unstable as he is? 53% of American women want a president as “unstable” as themselves ? 33% of American Hispanics are “unstable” like their “unstable” president. And of course, all us angry white males relish a fellow “unstable” misogynist. Hey Pascal ! Eat a Dick! … which I suspect you already do quite regularly. Your language betrays your unhinged swingings. Your opinion piece reads like a preemptive EXCUSE for yet another leftist domino falling. Why do you not tell the truth about the FAR-left FAILure in France. How even the FAR-left government has STOPPED refugee immigration. That FAR-left sponsored Muslim immigration policies has led to the streets of Paris overrun by Human vermin. That French culture is forever ruined by invaders intent on establishing Islamoland in the middle of Europe. Yeah, Pascal, you’ve got it RIGHT … that Marie Le Pen COULD actually WIN the French presidency. That enough of the formerly LEFTIST French voters will actually vote for their own SURVIVAL ! Idiot !
Apperantly he has been interviewing to many white men . This is more prevalent in the Canadian media where they show no people other than white men who he has been meeting with. Competency is not important only diversity. So recently an occupy democratic fan shared a post about a new group gaining traction called the Resistance. I find it oddly amusing that the same people who universally condemned Trump for his stand on accepting the election results refuse to accept the election results.
I agree! Hopefully Marine wipes the floor with the Frankfurt School communists.
LePen would actually make a very Trump friendly republican and the weary French public are ready for a protectionist agenda. Progressive Globalist Merkel will pull out all stops to keep the French Presidency out of a populist’s hands. A LePen win is the end of the EU and socialist fortress Europe.
France the next domino to fall…or the next domino to stand up..stand up as in not taking it sitting down…stand up as in fighting this white race replacement program.
Some background reading from a decade ago: http://www.nysun.com/foreign/frances-le-pen-to-strike-a-deal-with-muslims/27822/ that they don’t like the ruling commies does not make them instant good guys.
And a classic quote: “Ah France, where Neo-nazis will soon complain that they’re being treated like Jews.”
I like to do a little research on the authors of these articles. Sometimes it’s predictable but sometimes not. In this guys case, he thought both Trump and Hillary were bad. But in Hillary’s case, he thought she was THE WORST. He slammed her. So, maybe he just doesn’t like anyone. See for yourself. It’s interesting:
http://theweek.com/articles/659581/hillary-clinton-terrible-horrible-no-good-bad-president
Why is it that anyone who is not an MSM cocktail party follower “far-right”?
In Germany and France, millions of ordinary people, who are actually impacted by the elite’s policies, are now “deplorable”. I look forward to Merkel joining Clinton.
And I look forward to Trudeau joining her as well!!
The people we need to go after are the leftist journalists and their advertisers!!
Leftard propaganda, not worth wasting my time reading any of it.
Well…I’m not the only one that stopped reading at “the incompetence that Team Trump has been showing throughout his transition keeps asserting itself “.
Good for Le Pen…if the electorate ignores the media.
Mmmk … I see he is an Alt.Catholic libertarian. I assume he would have voted for the Green candidate … or actually preferred Bernie Sanders for his promise of “Christ-like” redistribution of loaves and fishes ? … if, of course, he didn’t live in Muslim-infested Paris. So I see that he probably eats dick on the sly, so as not to upset his marriage. I see that he believes Trump is his intellectual and spiritual inferior. I see that he can see thru Hillary and the Clinton cartel … mmmk. What he wrote about Trump and his supporters shows a visceral, ideological HATE for conservatism. Meh.
Looks like others already beat me to it.
Remember, any time the media refer to a ‘far-right’ European party, what they really mean is ‘far left, except they’re against unlimited immigration’.
Colonialista – I’ve had a fair number of discussions along these lines lately. It comes from talking to people who forget that not all cultures have the same history. We’re discussing in English, so the Magna Carta is assumed to be the basis of all conservative thought – no one is above the law.
French conservatism would rely on either mob rule (French Revolution) or droit de segnieur (pardon the spelling), the idea being that how the law applies to you depends upon place in society. German conservatism is the minor nobility and serf ownership, the idea that those in a position of power should make decisions for those who are less noble (and therefore inferior) to them. To the French and the Germans, national socialism and the hierarchy it assumes, is on the conservative side.
As previously mentioned, we’re communicating in English. To us it’s on the liberal side – individual freedom and equality before the law are foundational principles of the right in the English speaking world. Authoritarian thought is automatically on the left to us.
Hugh, never I have thought about it that way. I suppose you’re right. Being of Polish decent I always found the Magna Carta conservatism naturally appealing. I suppose it is rather compatible with Polish classical liberal/libertarian (liberum veto) tradition and hence intuitively and automatically easy for me to adopt.
“Yeah “Marine Le Pen, the far-right leader” except that she is not far right, she is national socialist.”
I’m quoting this because it is correct. National Socialist is Left, not Right.
Forget what C_Miner said. Where in C_Miner’s screed did he mention the Right vs Left meter?
Nowhere.
Neither the French nor the Germans understand individual citizen rule and responsibility.
They do understand elites and nobility. Both nations still have peasants. Yes, peasants.
Socialism is elitist, and totalitarian. It is just that the elites are fewer and their holdings are greater, allowing fewer peasants to climb to the elite level.
Less social mobility in socialism than in capitalism because the socialists control:
a) the means of finance
b) the means of manufacture
c) the means of transportation
d) the means of distribution
e) the means of communication
Fascism and Communism are the same in this regard. The difference is that fascism allows those who know how to efficiently control these MEANS to, at the onset of their socialism, to continue controlling because it is more efficient.
As power is consolidated, loyalty to the system makes fascism yield to communism because political orthodoxy continues to overthrow efficiency , and the old fascists who knew how to run things just get old and die off.
National Socialism throws in the additional requirement that the Socialist has to be culturally pure. That is all.
For now, it is requirement enough that the Legacy culture is recognized as superior and not eclipsed in the name of diversity. Diversity being a requirement of International Communism and the only real difference between the two Socialisms.
There are two kinds of people. Those that want to live their lives as they see fit, and those that want to tell other people how to live their lives. h/t RAH
Captcha oxymoron: COURT VIGILANTE
Now I really want to see a show about a delusional man in a cape and mask that barges into courtrooms to deliver vigilante justice.
Granted, his career would end quickly. I still want to see it.
My impression has been that France has always been more authoritarian than the English world. The French revolution was followed by the Napoleonic era and France can be considered the birthplace of the concept of a properly educated technocracy to rule the country (and now that class is attempting to extend that idea to encompass the whole world). Britain, despite the Magna Carta, has gone primarily statist and one hopes that it can back away from this dead end. The American colonies based their revolution on precedents set by the Magna Carta and the US constitution is essentially the declaration of a Libertarian form of government. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the US founders to prevent degradation of freedoms by human frailty, we now have the situation of a United States where quoting from sections of the Federalist Papers can get one imprisoned as a “terrorist”.
The major problem with “democracy” is that politicians pander to a constituency in order to get elected thinking only in terms of short term gains rather than the long term effect on the country. The US found itself at a dead end of rampant corruption and tried to get out of the problem by doubling down on what had failed so many times before. The next few years in the US are likely to be the most violent given the size and noisomeness of the swamp to be drained. The Ziocons and oligarchs in the US may well decide that assassinating Trump would be the best option so they can continue to pursue their deranged plans.
In France, I liked Marie Le Pen’s father more than her. It may be that she’s had to make herself less “extreme” in order to get elected, but once one starts to compromise then nothing gets changed if this becomes a habit. Then again, the French seem to like authoritarians but I suspect they may want out of the EU just leaving the Germans. My impression of Europeans is that they aren’t big fans of people telling it like it is and I’ve often been told I’m “undiplomatic”. This is one of the most refreshing things about Trump is that he just lets fly and one knows he’s on the right track even though it’s not a carefully crafted argument. Americans are viewed as people who tend to be far too direct in their speech and to me that’s an advantage as one knows what one is dealing with if people are speaking truthfully.
Never thought of Poland being particularly classically liberal as my father was a Ukrainian nationalist who grew up in Polish occupied Ukraine. Can’t describe him as particularly Libertarian, but he was in favor of Ukrainian revolution and I guess I inherited that anti-authoritarian streak from him. My mother majored in history in university and she and I had numerous arguments about her cyclic patterns in history that I insisted were past as we’d soon be colonizing the solar system before heading into interstellar space. It looks like she was correct in the end and that’s a problem that’s defined solution for millenia.
I was referring to the pre 19th century traditions in Poland. Unlike Ukraine Poland was not invented in the 20th century.
Oz, I agree with over 90% of what you wrote, and nothing that you wrote appears to disagree with what I said. The left is the “lets change things for the sake of change” side, identified in the English speaking world as the liberals (though they have long since left classical liberalism behind them). The right is the “don’t change things unless they are irredeemably broken, because what replaces it is likely to be worse” side. Also known as conservatives.
In the German tradition, National Socialist is right because to the Germans the authoritarian rulers were to the right – that’s how things have traditionally been run over the last 1000 years, founded in the idea that some are better than others and should make all the decisions. We are communicating in English, and the right/left divide is different here because of the historical differences between cultures. The king has to obey the law in the English tradition. In how many other cultures is this a foundational thought?
Loki – largely agreed, and that’s why the US founders didn’t make a democracy, the purpose of the republic was to stand against that type of thought. I wonder how many of their current short-term thinking politician problems can be brought back to the common election of senators instead of having them appointed by their respective states?
Some great comments here that pretty much encompass my thoughts: That this pinhead is a marxist, is absolute.
I Pray for Le Pen to win….(along with Geert in my home country), a Win for her would truly mean the End of Multi-Culturism throughout the West. And with luck a repatriation (forced for sure), of the millions of so called “Migrants” back to the scorpion infested sands of their birth. THEY DO NOT BELONG HERE. By “here”, I mean ANYwhere within our Western Civilization for they are not “immigrants/migrants” per se….rather, they are infiltrators – conquerers .
It would also possibly spell an end to Public Servant Unionism (something I blame for the rise of the Marxist ideology in our society). That it would be the end of the EU…is without doubt….and that my friends, would be a blessing.
I would pay plenty to be a fly on the wall when POTUS meets with our very own pinhead Pansy from Ottawa
“There are two kinds of people. Those that want to live their lives as they see fit, and those that want to tell other people how to live their lives.”
The latter suffer from libido dominandi: The will to power; the desire to dominate; the lust for government.
Why is no one saying this – Nazis were/are national socialists!
I can’t imagine Trump wanting to meet spud any time soon. By the time he does the sunni ways agenda will be in tatters.
If Le Pen wins in France and Merkel takes the high jump in Germany spud will be looking for friends in North Korea.
