  1. The North Peace region, Ft St John, BC got snow yesterday. 14-20 cm. I lived there in the early to mid 1990’s.

  4. I grew up in the area and moved away nearly 40 years ago.
    That’s not unusual. The snow often disappears after a few days. About a month later, the real stuff comes and stays until spring.

  9. 60 Minutes opens a story about the f-f-f-f en freezing Arctic tonight with a diatribe about Global Warming. So, in a story that is set in the Arctic … in summer … where the temps are minus -25 deg. F … that woman with the smeared lipstick prattles on about Global Warming. So even when they are fully immersed in an ice wasteland … talking about the EXTREME cold and difficult conditions … the media pulls Jedi mind tricks by saying this ice wasteland isn’t really here … and it will all be gone “very soon” (unless the gov’t. taxes the life out of the economy). The media just laps-up every drop of Warmist propaganda and focuses it on the public.

  11. The people who squawk the loudest about global warming remind me of when I started grad studies at UBC.
    Vancouver is filled with people who brag us hicks from the prairies that *they* don’t have to shovel snow in winter. However, they wouldn’t hesitate to go to resorts such as Whistler to go skiing, that activity that requires–ahem!–snow.
    Then, one day, snow did fall and the whole area was in a big panic, almost as if the world was about to come to an end. (“Snow in Vancouver? Eeeewwwww! Yucky!”) I, being accustomed to it, having lived in northern B. C. and, later, in Alberta, simply put my snow tires on my car and drove along the streets without giving it a second thought.
    People like the person you referred to act like they’ve never even seen snow first hand, so why should I listen to what they’re saying?

  12. Here in Southern Ontario, the furnace has yet to come on and the windows are still open at night. A completely normal September was had by all. It won’t start getting crappy ’till mid November.

    Listen to the complete interview to find out that Mayrand does NOT say that a referendum is unnecessary. When asked about a referendum (at about the 2:30 mark) Mayrand answers that any significant change to the electoral system must go across party lines. He does NOT say there’s no need for a referendum.
    Later on in the interview, Mayrand points to the example of New Zealand, which not only took 10 years to change its system, but also went back to the public, asking it whether they liked the new system. How was that done? In a referendum. So, for the headline writer to conclude that Mayrand favours no referendum is pure fabrication.

  21. The summer weather on the prairies produced a few warm days but generally it has been wet, especially since harvest started at the end of August. We’re into October and there is still a lot of crop left in the fields. Farmers tell me their crop is one of the largest they’ve ever produced so how does that mesh with the ‘warmanistas’ and their extraordinary claim that the summer of 2016 was the warmest on record.

  25. Back in the ‘good old days’ plenty of harvesting (at least in Alberta) was still going on in October. For example: my mum was born on Oct 19, 1924, and her mother had to take a whole day off from feeding the thrashing crew, who had to make do with just sandwiches (much to their dismay).

    He, gasp, might even have paid ONLY his legal taxes, so of course should be criticized for greed, simply by following the rules.
    Hillary ignores the rules, insists on being above the law, lest she be held to a higher standard. The NYTs agree.
    Now remember these beacons of the 4th estate (or is it 5th?) don’t game the tax system, no not at all:
