  1. That reminds me of why early days as a grad student. We had to attend a weekly seminar and the best way the department would guarantee that we’d come was to bribe us with coffee and doughnuts.
Sure enough, it didn’t take long for the latter to disappear, though we were a lot quieter than the dogs.

  2. You were lucky. All we got at basic training and later at Lt qualifying was a couple of slides of the fairer sex in bikinis and no donuts. Needless to say it also became considerably quieter and the first words out of the mouths of the instructor were almost always, “Now that I have your attention”. No doubt in today’s environment these slides have disappeared to the same place that all the brass balls have gone.

  3. I know what you’re referring to. Many years ago, I was a contractor at a certain government facility and the coffee room in my area had wall-to-wall pinups. After a while, nobody even took notice.
Those pinups had to come from somewhere, of course. Every month the latest edition of a certain magazine would appear. First, the centrefold was removed and put up on the wall, though there wasn’t much space left while I was working there. People would look at the magazine for a few days, but after that, it simply lay there on a table among all the other magazines and newspapers.
    Nobody openly protested or objected.
Eventually, a directive from head office decreed that such material was to be banished forever from the facilities, much to the dismay of the staff.

  4. Went to Dundurn in the militia when I was sixteen. 300 Guys and only one very chesty sgt. on site . Free condoms for all . Woke up in a wet bed every morning almost. Life is a bitch and then you die.
