  1. I sense that Albertans must be getting used to Notley and the NDP. And we always do get the governments we deserve.

  2. I live in Red Rachel’s riding. People may be getting used to the commies being in power (more like resignation and patiently waiting for 2019) but I’ve yet to meet anyone who voted for them.

  3. Well, let’s see…the Tories have done so well in the last three go-rounds: Special Ed Stelmach, Princess Alison Redford and Look-in-the-mirror Jim Prentice, I guess they figure they can’t do any worse. Wanna bet? If they’re going to stack the vote and continue with the same old crap, I’m done with them.

  4. Didn’t the federal Tories try something similar after nearly being wiped out in the ’93 election? Remember what eventually became of the party?

  5. B my friend. Every time an election happens and the results end up turning sour a few months later you’ll have a really hard time finding anyone who will admit openly that they voted for them. Dumbass cowards – all of them.

  6. They are progressives. That’s why it’s the first word in their name. Provressive first. Whatever second.
Anyone can feel at home in the Alberta PC party.
I’m giving Kenney a chance. If he becomes leader and forms a coalition of the right I’ll support him. If the ole boys pick their leader then I’ll stay WR. If the former happens the PCs are done in Alberta. WR becomes the party of the people.

  7. I’ve been in Calgary 3-4 times since May-2015. I’ve yet to meet one person who voted for Rachel and company.

  8. This is interesting.
There is certain Sandra Jensen, she was once a newsreader on the local television station.
As with all the “journalists” she wanted to change the world, they tell them that in school.
When she was done with “journalism” she decided, as all “journalists” do, to go into politics.
Jensen, being your basic socialist, could not get on the money gravy train. She could not get elected being Liberal.
You may have already guessed it, she joined the party that would get her into the gravy.
Today, while being in the Progressive party, she is still your basic socialist.
There is some thinking that she is going to run for the top job as well. The super delegate thing is being pushed by her, she is absolutely, positively pushing the Progressives into socialists with a strange name.
As soon as she wins, the metamorphosis will be complete.
You can ruminate on the change in the plebeians.

  9. Mr. Kenny should resign his seat in Parliament since he is clearly campaigning provincially full-time. Why are we, the taxpayers, paying him his MP’s salary when he is not even pretending to act in that capacity?
Have too many years in Ottawa made him “entitled” and blinded him the fact that this is wrong?

  10. I Second the motion put forth to.be DONE WITH THE CRAP. The establishment doesn’t want a real conservative in charge. Pig troughs run dry then.

  11. Why should he? Many other politicians from all parties have run for other offices without resigning. Someone on this board had quite a list the other day.
Do you have a personal problem with Kenny?

  12. My brother and his wife from Airdrie said much the same when they visited us last weekend. They have had enough of Liberals pretending they are conservative.

  13. You’re new.
Anyway, my remembered experience of that last PC leadership race,(and I’m still getting PC e-mails although I haven’t paid for membership[$5] since Stemach was a mere candidate for leader) is that when Prentice was running for PC leader that there was a significant drop in voter give-a-shit or even genuine membership because conservative Albertans had seen the light 2 TWO general elections before and in their minds the PCs were sellouts and doing NDP lite-and-slow.
Jason Kenny? What do you say Kenny? Are you going to Tell All of Us Albertans Who Exactly Sent the RCMP Thugs into High River to LOOT and Vandalized their HOMES in an epic flood where every store and outlet begged Albertans to DONATE to Flood victims?
And I’m Asking this for myself Jason Kenney, Why did Albertans have to DONATE when Peter Lougheed created the Heritage Fund for a rainy day. Wasn’t 2013 A RAINY DAY???
Admit it, Jason Kenny. You FUCKERS robbed the Heritage Fund and SPENT IT buying the PUBLIC UNION Vote and YOUR PC Government CREATED the Alberta Government UNIONS and it looks like the PC Government Created the Heritage Fund as a SLUSH fund to buy the UNION VOTE.
Why then did so many Public Union workers vote NDP in 2015?
Because the Progressive Conservatives(who created the Heritage Fund at the same time that they allowed the public sector to UNIONIZE) had spent all of the Heritage Fund before 2013 and they were bribing the Public Unions with borrowed deficit spending while promising their conservative base that they would balance the budget.
Listen to me, Albertans: The NDP does not care if the budget is balanced or if they spend money that they will never pay back.
Listen Harder Albertans: the Progressive Conservatives were already doing what the NDP are doing, they just LIED about wanting to balance the budget and end deficit spending to get votes from conservatives.
Jason Kenny? If you’re trying to show Albertans that you’re sorry and that your party has CHANGED, lets start with some RESPECT and some TRANSPARENCY by telling Albertans who gave the order to raid homes in High River and why? And follow that up with a promise to respect and protect the private property of Albertans with a Guaranteed Right(as under British Common Law) to the Safe Guarding and Respect of Private Property.

  14. Last but not LEAST: Listen UP WildRose Party Leaders, DO NOT join the Progressive Conservatives.
The NDP became the Alberta Government because 9 Traitors who weren’t conservatives stabbed you in the back.(especially Danielle Smith)
Jason Kenny wants to Unite WRP with the PCs. Unacceptable. The PCs need to DIE as an entity.
Act Conservative, show the PCs are NOT Conservative, and you, WRP, will WIN and form the next Alberta Government.

  15. Should Kenney go Wildrose and focus on bringing a party with real conservative values to power? The PC’s seem like a blind-deaf-dumb no compromise lost cause.

  16. Only one thing to say to that; Danielle Smith backstabber though she was, started her political life as a conservative. After the WR lost the first election, she started changing her tune and becoming more liberal. Now it might be that she always was liberal, but I think she changed her tune to reflect what she had heard while she was campaigning.
    That makes me sad.

  17. The PC party is a hollow hulk with members that remain mostly hoping the days of pork can return.
Kennedy has promised to end the party with a merger with the Wildrose.
No surprise that tactics like this are being used to stop him.
If they succeed, the “unite the right” movement ends and most Albertan’s who want to end the NDP will consolidate around the Wildrose and the PC party essentially evaporates.
Either way, the PC party is finished.

  18. Alberta has the strange habit of completely discarding their political parties once those parties lose power. United Farmers of Alberta – Gone. Social Credit – Gone. Soon the Progressive Conservative party – Gone. After the next election we will be able to say New Democrats -Gone.

  19. “Mr. Kenny should resign his seat in Parliament since he is clearly campaigning provincially full-time.”
As Kenny pointed out, if he did, he would be the first ever. Sitting Senators and governors run for president of the US. Require people to quit their job and you end up with losers. The Alberta PCs even required leadership contenders to resign from cabinet. That was stupid too.

  20. Very true. And how many people here will admit they voted for Pierre Trudeau the first time around?
He somehow got elected to a huge majority in B.C.,and I’m the only person in the Province that voted for him!
You Albertans are lucky, you have the Dippers in power and know how badly they are going to f*** up the economy,in B.C. we have to contemplate the horrible possibility of an NDP government next May while acknowledging that the only thing going for our Liberals is Christy Clark and her tight tank tops.

  21. ”Admit it, Jason Kenny. You FUCKERS robbed the Heritage Fund and SPENT IT buying the PUBLIC UNION Vote and YOUR PC Government CREATED the Alberta Government UNIONS and it looks like the PC Government Created the Heritage Fund as a SLUSH fund to buy the UNION VOTE.”
Yup! Lets show some respect eh!!
