Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

GO OUT!!!!!PLEASSSSSSSE GO OUT!
Now is the time for payback for the multiple times you held the country hostage at Christmas time when the mail WAS relevant. ITs obsolete now and while they may be doing more business delivering packages for Amazon, etc.the same lazy attitude still persists. I instruct Amazon NOT to use Canada post for any of my purchases. Fedex,,UPS!etc do an excellent job and their employees care about SERVICE. CAnada post, not so much.

Well I side with the miners on this one . They want the government out and private companies and investment (read free market) in. I wish them well I hope they stop the violence but I hope they remain fearless and willing to act again in violence until the government obeys them that’s how it’s supposed to work.
South American socialists have been having a hard time of it lately.
If the posties go on strike will anyone notice? All my bills are paid online with the exception of my property tax which I usually pay at the township office.

That second link is amusing, but of course you can’t compare SA Countries to much-more-corrupt-but- discrete -about -it Canader, unfortunately.
The Posties may actually strike, there will be wailing about Seniors and pension cheques, but in the end De Gub’mint will capitulate and give ’em most of what they’re demanding. This is a Lib/Dip voting block.
Too bad the Union transparency Bill has been stopped, the public would be rightly outraged when they see how CUPW spends it’s members money.
I agree. Canada Post is becoming increasingly less vital.
I wonder if the union understands that this greatly undermines their bargaining power. It isn’t the 1960s.
Upon reading the news all I can say is “praise the Lord and pass the ammunition”. Bolivia is another socialist shithole like Venezuela. So now big labour that supported the raise to power of the socialist government is fighting said government? Let’s hope the minister is just the beginning.
If the government had any balls, they would go for a 6 month strike allowing no raise and a severe cutback in pension benefits. The post office is just about dead, surviving on advertising revenue.
Let’s see…What came in the mail today? Much like yesterday – a half-dozen flyers, which went straight to the recycling bin. Yup, I’ll sure miss Canada Post.
I just put a card in the mail, so I want them to stay at work until it gets where its going. Then, I wish them freedom.
“Here’s hoping Canada Post employees don’t read this.”
They all will, it’s now afternoon and it’s Friday.
Exactly. We pick up the mail once a week just to clear out the flyers.
Canada post goes on strike and it means nothing.
The Canada Post labour dispute is all about their defined benefit pension plan …
New employees would need to work 30 years or more to earn an unreduced pension ….
When you consider that nobody uses the mail anymore, how could a young postal worker ever
imagine that they will earn a pension?
Sort of reminds me of the CBC … similar situation … nobody watches television yet they still
have close to 8,000 employees doing nothing …
I guess the Bolivian miners were happier when they were oppressed wage slaves toiling for the evil foreign capitalist exploiters?
“nobody watches television yet they still
have close to 8,000 employees doing nothing …”
In all fairness to the CBC, it requires some effort to blow through a billion plus dollars a year without producing anything of value or providing any meaningful service.
You can instruct the postal people to stop placing flyers and junkmail in your mailbox.
One s’poses it prolly would be too much to ask Justine to step into the negotiations, eh? (Like said Noregian Blue Deputy in Boliva.) ☺
I do feel sorry for the Bolivian minister and his family. It sounds as though he was sincerely trying to settle things. Although I do agree that the miners’ cause is legit, violence like that has no justification. Seems socialism has run its course in yet another country.
Back home — Canada Post employees strike for the right to work for private companies? Send Justin Hairdo to mediate with them. (A guy can dream can’t he?)
It’s too bad more cabinet ministers aren’t beaten to death. In Canada, I mean.
“Violence never solved anything” proven again to be propaganda by people that need killing.
