  1. Socialists consistently fail to look more than one move down the chess board.
    In this case, it’s obvious to everyone but Mugabe that no one with any brains is now going to strive to be an Olympic athlete, guaranteeing that Zimbabwe won’t get any medals in the next Olympics either.

  4. Yes. Then there were tryouts for a special outdoor swimming event in Siberia for the upcoming Winter Olympics. Not to mention the 90 degree bobsledding and the javelin catching competitions.

  11. Did not watch much of the recent production. Never recovered from the scandal of the French and Russians rigging the figure skating a few years back. Every year it is more of the same. It is a global scam and the people eat it up.

  12. In some ways I agree with the commie. I hate, loath, detest the olympics and all it has come to be and stand for and as such every nation would be better off spending the money on infrastructure than sports. Of course I don’t agree with him on arresting people for not winning ’cause he was the one that sent them to the olympics in the first place which in the eyes of the olympics gives the olympics additional legitimacy.

  13. I think that sending athletes to Siberia was hearsay, but it was and probably still is a fact that their Olympic athletes were paid as members of their armed forces. So they live pretty good and are paid well to do nothing but eat, sleep and train their behinds off, while most Olympic athletes in Canada (and pretty much every other democratic country) paid their own way, working full-time at low paid menial jobs.
    Considering the number of people currently employed at all levels of government here in Canada, some of whom seem to be *ahem* shall we say, less than totally committed to, or challenged by, performing their assigned duties, there should be somewhere our athletes could be employed that would allow them maximum time for training and eliminate their financial stresses.
    It’s fun to speculate what that would do to our medal count at the next Olympics.

  14. We had a Rhodesian ridgeback dog. My dad had done some work for a guy and he couldn’t pay so dad took the dog. Great dog. Slept in my bed. Attacked anyone, including my dad, who dared lay a hand on me.
    Zimbabwean ridgeback doesn’t have the same ring.

  23. I’ve got some books about the Rhodesian civil war (resistance to the communists). There’s a guy in Hinton AB who grew up there and has a bookshop / jersey shop online at http://www.rhodesiawassuper.com/ In one of the books I bought from him, a Rhodesian SAS sniper had Mugabe in his cross hairs (I don’t think it was an Pamwe Chete, but that’s an amazing book about the SAS and it’s sold out now anyway). They were in a cease fire, so the sniper just kept a bead on him for 10 minutes or so thinking “Should I do it anyways? Would it be worth it? I might not get another chance like this.” He never did get another chance. Mugabe lived to rule, and ruin, Zimbabwe. If I remember correctly, one thing the SAS patrol brought back was evidence that the communists were using the cease fire as a re-arming break.
    That’s a tough question about civilization that the SJWs just don’t get. Men of good intent can cause huge evil if they only follow the civilized rules. I wonder how much different the history of southern Africa would be if the sniper, recognizing that the cease fire was doomed because of what they saw on that patrol, had taken the shot.
