The WHOLE damn renewable/green/AGW is nothing but a fraud,that the gullible suck up like pigs at the slop. There are currently only three renewables that work; water, trees, and nuclear.

Of course it’s a boondoggle. It was never intended to provide a reliable low cost source of fuel. It was intended to provide price support for corn and canola farmers in the United States without triggering trade backlash from other nations. The biofuel business was simply to give it a green veneer: “if you’re against biofuel, you must be anti-environment”. In achieving that sole purpose, it succeeded just fine even if it’s been a disaster in every other way.

You are correct. This is all about subsidizing industrial agriculture, not about so called ‘green fuel’.
This isn’t about the few people who make diesel fuel from used fryer oil. Those few are merely using a product that would otherwise be waste, keeping out of the dumps, and getting good fuel from it in the process. Most of them don’t care if it’s ‘green’ not; it’s an economic choice.

In the case study … the ridiculously blatant, in-your-face, fraudulent biofuel seller is serving a 12-1/2 year sentence. I expect he will serve less than half that time … when he will fly to Barbados and enjoy the $ 9 million dollars he just stole from the American taxpayers. Until we start imposing the same sentences for financial (white collar) crimes as we do for black drug dealers (blue? Collar) crimes … our Federal deficit will just keep growing and growing crushing our children and ruining their lives

I’m confused. What’s to stop someone from buying 50k of impressive looking s!ht, take pictures, get numbers, sell numbers, get millions, claim he shut it down, and get the sh!t scraped at the dump?
This only illustrates, that with the fraudsters, there are some stupid ones. I suspect the good fraudsters celebrate the bad ones.

Many green technologies work well for off-grid households or small communities. Scaling them up to sizes that power even small cities has taken huge subsidies and investment. A problem that plagues most of the green technologies is how they attract naive idealistic investors, and the scam artists that prey on them. These scam artists are also experts at bilking the government out of grants and low interest [forgivable] loans. This often happens with any emerging technology whether it’s ‘green’ or whatever. Ever since AlGores docu-drama ‘green’ tech has attracted scammers like flies to shít.

ALL “green” solutions are frauds. All of them.

Biofuels are old technology. The Inuit heated with whale blubber centuries ago. On the great plains of Canada and the USA, flax and wheat straw was used to heat steam engines when coal and wood were not readily available. Bison and later cow paddies heated stoves on farms and ranches all over the Canadian prairies in the late 1880’s.
Sterno fuel, known as ”canned heat,” is denatured and jellied alcohol, and has been used for cooking and making coffee for over a century. The alcohol can be made from a large variety of plants. Slight problem with Sterno. Hobos and winos loved drinking it, even if it was poisonous. The drink was known as ”squeeze” because they believed that filtering it through bread, cheesecloth or socks made it OK. Not so!! Tommy Johnson, famous Delta blues singer wrote a song about it. It was named ”Canned Heat Bues.” Enjoy!!

You nailed it. This is exactly what happened. Most grain farmers here in Canada applauded the move toward biofuels at the time as grain prices were very poor then, much as they are once again for reasons I have not kept up with.

Rife with fraud you say? I cannot imagine that. After all, the government would never waste tax dollars in order to placate any special interest group. /sarc
