  1. Should have read how they KEEP this quiet, but you know what I meant. I don’t think I have ever seen CNN mention it.

  2. I think I see Sean Penn standing in the crowd.
“Hey Sean, wave, can I take a picture? Hey Sean can I take a picture?”

  3. If people keep voting for liberals like Justin Trudeau, that is what Canada will be like in 20 years.

  4. Some mainstream media do cover this story: the ridiculous foreign-policy commentator on CBC, Joan Leishman (sp? — I don’t care enough about her to look it up) continues to report that the falling price of oil is the problem. She fails to mention that the problems existed when oil prices were high, long before Chavez died. And she doesn’t feel fit to mention the obvious contradiction that Columbia, a country with fewer natural resources, is a mecca for Venezuelans.

  5. I heard this referred to yesterday on CBC radio. The ONLY reason they offered for this was the current world oil prices.
The exact same narrative, BTW, that the msm will use to cover Notley’s destruction of Alberta’s economy.

  6. What people think are journalists in Canada and the US, should be questioning those media outlets they give their money to that hire so called journalists, why they never cover the end result. These same rags and BS spouts the CBC CTV Globull Red STAR etc. were all over the Sean Penns, Harry Belafontes Danny Glovers with their glowing stories of Hugo Chavez the communist scumbag who started the process of communizing a great economy into this. The couldn’t headline Sean and Harry enough, just as they do with,” large and in charge Justy”, and our current Alberta headidiot. Show the kids what happens when you vote in fools who think they can manage an economy. No the media won’t undo their progress, this picture, is what they want to achieve.

  7. Sort of like Thatcher’s great comment on Socialism. It is a wonderful idea until you run out of other people’s money.
In this case however, it’s “until you run out of other people’s food.”

  8. bartinsky;
Is there anyone left in this country that harbor any belief that most media are a bunch of lying POS? Unfortunately yes! Yesterday even my wife was repeating the standard fare on Trump. I challenged her on what she really knew about Donald Trump other than what MSNBC or CBS told her. I said you were a Harper fan and saw what the media did to him and yet you are not questioning what they are now doing to Trump.
Propaganda is an insidious process. WW II showed that it worked very well on both sides of the conflict. IMHO the lessons learned there have been adopted by governments around the world and by corporations in their advertising.
Citizens should be asking how do they get the real truth of any issue? I watched a short history on Camp X during WW II the other night. What stood out for me was the Igor Kozenski(?) defection. His revelations about the extent of Soviet penetration of NA society by their operatives was scary. Surprise folks. The McCarthy era was based on fact not the right wing effort to stifle progressive thought as it has been universally portrayed. Read a little Randolf Hurst and Ronald Reagan bios to see what they did to fight communism. My question would be whether citizens actually think the Soviets folded their tents up after being exposed for the clandestine war they were waging in NA during the ’50’s? Some how I doubt that. Soviet espionage carries out the mundane process of influencing those who mold public opinion and who can direct that opinion in the direction that benefits them most. That means the education system and the media.
Is all progressive thought created by the Russians? Obviously not. The socialists have always partnered with the communist as their objectives are not that different. There are more pragmatic nation states like the Saudis who also influence media with their money.

  9. Keep your hopes high. Give Socialism a chance. Next time it will be different.
“To keep hope alive one must, in spite of all mistakes, horrors, and crimes, recognize the obvious superiority of the socialist camp,”
    Jean-Paul Sartre

  10. Gotta admit – they seem to build decent bridges. If that had been in Quebec, they’d all be in the river by now…

  11. I wonder how many Venezuelans choose not to return after they’ve done their shopping.

  12. You didn’t tell us what your wife said next.
Leslie Stahl interviewed the Donald and his VP pick. She went right up to the limit on sneering and challenged his every thought, word and phrase.
We will get all the confirmation of mediocracy bias when she softballs Hillary, as she surely will, because email or Benghazi questions will be off limits.
Hint: the polar opposite interviews of Peter Pansbridge with Harper and Trudeau last election.

  13. Isn’t this the kind of humanitarian crisis that The Clinton Foundation is dedicated to solving ? Just like the Clintons did in Haiti ? Didn’t they build thousands of new homes for Haitians, and deliver needed food and medicine ? What’s that you say ? Haiti is still a basket case, and that tens of thousands are still living in the streets or tent cities ? Ohhhhh yeahhhh … The Clinton Foundation was just COLLECTING $$$$ under the guise of actually doing something productive. Bill will get around to it … as soon as you’all elect Hillary the FIRST woman President of the USA

  14. Socialists would NEVER admit their bridges were adequate and well built. MORE TAXES … for “infrastructure” is the current Socialist slogan. More likely the Venezuelan Army (they’re in charge now aren’t they ?) will condemn the bridge and BAN anyone from using it (except politbureau elites) till it is repaired. Violators will be SHOT

  15. Notes on how to exit the mess… from Daniel Duquenal in Venezuela..
    http://daniel-venezuela.blogspot.ca/2016/07/padrino-army-takeover-venezuela.html
“There is the possibility of general collapse. It is clear that the army, no matter what Padrino tries to do, is less and less in control. The latest shopping exodus to Colombia is an evidence. Just as when the Iron Curtain borders control collapsed announcing the end of Communist Eastern Europe.”
In my opinion, this may be the outcome. Maduro isn’t considering resigning, nor allowing a recall referendum, the opposition isn’t bending, and in 3-4 months there’s a debt bond due that will eat much of the federal government’s money on hand… Not paying this bond will trigger court actions against PDVSA’s foreign holdings, and not allow the foreign sale of oil. Except possibly to China.
So the gig is up, this autumn.
